It all goes on the line at Hampden tomorrow

Games come thick and fast when you remain in all competitions in late October. The Allianz Arena got your heart beating on Wednesday, but much more is on the line at Hampden Park tomorrow: the first trophy of the season.

While our unbeaten domestic run goes on the line every game we play in Scotland, I wish we were not facing an occasion as important as a cup semi-final immediately after such a huge Champions League occasion. The timing of this game contributes towards Hibernian’s chances of success.

Neil Lennon’s Hibs have already won at Ibrox and drawn at Celtic Park this season. They genuinely have no fears about making the trip along the M8 to face Celtic at the national stadium. While Celtic players were draining every muscle of energy on Wednesday, Hibs players were resting in front of the television. They would have been tucked up in bed before Scott Brown and his team-mates got to Munich Airport and have enjoyed the benefit of a week’s uninterrupted training.

For Brendan Rodgers, the challenge is to pick a team with sufficient energy and ability to ensure a cup final appearance next month. He is able to make changes, which I expect to happen.

Moussa Dembele and Tom Rogic should start. Callum McGregor enjoys the Hamden stage and I would give him the nod ahead of Olivier Ntcham or Stuart Armstrong in the central mid berth, although Brendan will think otherwise.

We are the champions and treble winners for a reason: that we have unerringly raised our standards to meet every challenge presented. Tomorrow is another occasion when our deep reserved will be called upon.

Enjoy your day at Hampden.

I was in Torino and it was brutal. The Rube fans were looking to do serious damage. Not a pleasant trip at all!

    Have I killed the blog?

Anyhoo, a good wee night. Great programme on Sky HD earlier with Gary kemp looking at the work of Mick Ronson, his hero and a fantastic guitarist – the MainMan in the Spiders From Mars. Followed by a mother great look at anger in Rock and Roll. Both worth getting rerun in catchup TV if you missed them.

Been listening to the news Bowie Box Set “A New Career in a New Town” – on CD for a change because I got a new Cambridge Audio CD transport and its playing through a new CA amp – almost as good as vinyl. Now listening to Dark Side of the Moon (the first vinyl press from 1973 for audiophiles) and it is just as superb as ever!

All aided and abetted with some excellent valpolicella ripasso rather than the more herbal accompaniment of the 70’s!

Looking forward to scalping the Hibees tomorrow!

  3. Gerryfaethebrig,

I’ve not seen a player quicker than Coman.

I have him in my Ultimate team on Fifa….. He certainly isn’t that rapid. No full back could have lived with him that night.

Bayern were annoyed that PSG beat them convincingly, or to put a more fine point on it, Jupp was.

    He was shabbily treated previously.

I think Cristian is a cracking player but his height, I think, is going against him.

We are getting the worst of draws…. or the best. We shall see.

Today we will Win very well or lose an incredible domestic record.

Tom and Callum are champing at the bit.

Oh and then there is a Moussa Dembele, to contend with. :)))

    It is gonnae be Good.

I am down with the kids, I think I know the players our team face, seemingly Coman was the youngest French debut with PSG ? Juventus has him then Bayern got him for 21euro million, anyway I thought Gambia done a great shift …. although it’s a hard watch am glad we are playing these superstars …. roll on the Hibees. I want Celtic to be up against the best, my Celtic never need to win (but it is better when they do :-)

Me an Petec are here not sure if that’s a good thing :-)

Reading back in work I noticed JNP posting you and Corkcelt posting sensible stuff. I concur :-)

  6. Gerryfaethebrig,

It is all about learning, we are learning from the very best on the Planet.

    Celtic need a Break howevaaah.

I mean an actual break in proceedings, chucked into action way too early this Season…. Basically a 2 year/3 year cycle of constant stuff now.

I dinnae ken how we fix it.

I’d get the current SFA to Feck ASAP.

    Bowling Club scum.

They are all linked to UEFA so unlikely.

Times are a changing leave the dinosaurs wallowing in their pool of bigotry …..

I think I just missed you at the last hoot and you got landed with that AoW character, hope to catch up on 11/11 …. we live in great Celtic times, despite their SFA and their establishment ….. its gone for them, enjoy Brendan & the Bhoy’s, am sure young Aidan is :-)

  8. Gerry,

It is the amounts of Money being transferred now.

£200Million, the guy happens to be Brazillian, so very sad.

He is a good player but nowhere near that, reprehensible attitude 2.

This stuff makes everything harder for Celtic. The BPL has went crazy with prices as well.

It is obscene and sick especially as Most are struggling to make ends meet.

The Griff, Broony and wee KT are special …. again am happy with my Celtic, Celtic means many different things to every Celtic fan who attends or just wants to be there, I love Broony, thing wee Griff is exceptional but Kieran is my type of Celtic … he is the one the billionaires might chase, anyway we have Brendan & loads of players well worthy of the hoops, we live in great Celtic times

  10. Gerry,

Fantasticque stuff by those dudes that are hardcore fitba players before Money.

Hopefully, that Love can take hold again on the Biggest of stages.

    11 from Lennoxtown????

    I think so.

Griff and Broonie will obviously have to help them develop, and they will do that.

They are now Massive Celtic Supporters.

Loved reading your Bavarian escapades, never listen to any who demean our supporters following our team, I loved reading the good will shown by fans (as it should )

  14. DD – Celtic have learned so much from that game.

Bayern should never have replaced Jupp.

That was crazy at that Time.

    GFTB,

It remains to be seen if Anthony can be even better than Kieran.

The BM fans love Jupp like they love their granda. I saw a player in Allianz Arena that I had never heard of, but was my motm. Coman? What a winger. Think he is faster than Usain Bolt

I travelled back to Munich Centre in a train fae Allianz Arena 50/50 Celtic/BM supporters. They sat silent the half hour journey. We sang the whole journey. BM fans joined into our Inspiral Carpets song.

Brendan Rodgers is here for 10 in a row. Munich was magical.

  20. Delaneys Dunky,

I think Usain is a bit slower over the first yards.

Brendan done everything he could on the night.

A few players froze, that is understandable.

München last week through up so many coincidences to be true. My Bavarian taxi driver to the airport freaked Sipsini out. He told us he was a devout Catholic and reckons we are living in the book of revelations end time. He reckoned that the Munich Pope and the Argentinian pope will be joined by the Bethlehem born second coming.
