‘IT HURTS,’ McGREGOR ON REVENGE MISSION

CALLUM McGREGOR will be a man on a revenge mission when the champions play at Ibrox on Sunday.

Brendan Rodgers’ men rubberstamped their fourth successive title with a rampant 5-0 triumph over Dundee United at Tannadice on Saturday.

Later that afternoon, caretaker boss Barry Ferguson saw his faltering team draw 2-2 with St Mirren in Paisley – his third stalemate in 11 games, a sequence that has also seen four wins and four defeats.

Remarkably, one of those successes came at the home of the champions last month when a strangely-subdued Celtic gifted the visitors a 2-0 half-time lead, fought back to 2-2 and then saw Hamza Igamine net the winner for the Govan club in the 88th minute.

FOUR IN A ROAR…skipper Callum McGregor is a roaring success as Celtic seal the fourth successive title after the 5-0 rout at Tannadice.

That was the Hoops’ second consecutive Premiership setback against their city rivals after the 3-0 nosedive at Ibrox in the first outing of 2025.

McGregor, however, will lead his team onto the field for the High Noon showdown with the club’s 55th crown in the bag and a 17-point advantage.

The title kings’ onfield leader is highly motivated for the fifth derby of the campaign – Celtic won the first 3-0 before lifting the Premier Sports League Cup following a penalty-kick shoot-out – and is determined to avenge back-to-back defeats against the Govan club.

Looking forward to the tussle, McGregor said: “It’s hugely important and not lost on the players at all.

JOY BHOYS…Callum McGregor is the cheerleader again as the Hoops whoop it up on Tayside.

“Obviously, we got across the line, but we know we’ve got a Cup Final, and we know what’s happened in the last couple of games against them, so we want to try and put that right if we can.

“We want to go and win the game. Very quickly the focus will shift to that.”

McGregor, speaking to STV, added: “I know the DNA of the club, I know what it’s about, and when you lose games of football to Rangers, then it hurts. It hurts everybody.

“We’ve all pretty much been in a bad mood since then, so it’s a chance to put it right.

“There’s no way that, just because we’re champions, we’ll take it any less serious.”
