Celtic hunt in packs.
Leipzig possessed tremendous ability to switch the ball across the field with speed and accuracy. Celtic hunted the ball down, packs of players swooped on the man in possession, then often switched to the other side of the field, before swooping again.
This took oceans of energy, but most of all speed. How many times did you notice Callum McGregor or Ryan Christie scarper 30 yards at full pace, just to add defensive cover? This is why Leipzig created so few good chances until the latter stages of the game.
Leipzig can do nothing about Forrest.
All they could do with James Forrest is get close enough to concede a foul and receive a caution. The often showed James inside, but he can drop a shoulder and escape with the ball so well he was literally unplayable.
Tiredness before equaliser.
Before Leipzig’s equaliser the visitors had three substitutes on the field, whereas, Celtic persevered with the starting 11. Rogic, Sinclair, Forrest and especially Lustig were tired. I was desperate for Brendan to put fresh legs on. Forrest was still capable of tormenting the Leipzig defence, so I was surprised when he was replaced with 7 minutes left, but Sinclair and Rogic both made significant contributions in the final minutes.

We know the script when it comes to French under-21 internationals. Leipzig could not get the ball off Odsonne Edouard inside the box. Could. Not. Get. The. Ball. Off. Him. There will be a clamour for this boy’s signature. I know it’s the last thing we want and how difficult it is to continue to go to the well and get the same results, but this one is in the post.

Yesterday I wrote that I wanted these five tested at this level. They determined Celtic’s entire structure and pace of play. The result was that we played our best football in Europe for a long time. They have already done the same to our domestic form. We will need Scott Brown and Olivier Ntcham this season, but we cannot this midfield just to accommodate either of them.

Difficult task in waiting today, horrible pitch against a very physical team with a very strong home record. New challenges for the likes of Benkovic, Christie, Edouard et al, after the midweek high today will feel like a big comedown. Personally i would make only one or two changes and try and get the job done as quickly and effectively as possible. The Hearts result yesterday was a bonus in that it should help focus the minds of the players as they now have the chance to go top of the League. Today is one of those days when any win will do.
Victory today would be good and get us back to top spot with a game in hand which is an added incentive for the players.
Victory for Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and City would be a wee bonus,playing with bookies money from Melbourne cup.
Also have a single bet on Arsenal to win at fairly good odds at home to Wolves who look as if they’ve lost their way a wee bit in their last few matches.

If I were king for a day, the first thing I would do is pass an unrepealable law that anyone who is thinking about going to war with another country had to be first in the Q when it came to the fighting, it would stop the killing in a heartbeat imo.

With the fantastic run that we are on and this being the last game before the winter break all things would point to the same starting 11 for today. Howwwevvvvah…. artificial pitch and our history of picking up injuries on the same might cause Brendan to make a few changes. So wouldn’t be surprised if 2 or 3 of our current defenders don’t feature. Now if only there was a rule that it is to be grass only in the top flight….

I’ve got a poppy on today.
Just for the day in remembrance for my forefathers that picked a gun up rather than a pay check from the shipyards, 2 that died with gas in their lungs.
It has been hijacked by them, al lot of good men lost their lifes in both wars, to me that’s what remembrance Sunday is about.
One day to respect the fallen in 2 world wars.

It’s poppy day, not poppy month and it is being used as a badge now sadly.

Today at 11am there is a 1 minute silence across the UK
So why the need for another at noon? Or indeed at any other time where football I being played this weekend?
I am out shopping and haven’t noticed ASDA or M&S employees being issued with poppy enhanced uniforms.
So why do football teams do so?
