IT troubles and Celtic v Hibernian Live updates

395

Like many of you, I struggled to get logged on with my Pass to Paradise for the Ross County game yesterday.  On the one hand, I was frustrated, but on the other, I had a bit of sympathy for the IT guys, who would have been in the eye of the storm.

Before you deploy a new system, IT will want a trial run to prove that the concept works in the environment.  Most commonly, for systems that are a bit leading edge like the one Celtic bought during lockdown to broadcast games, you are likely to stress the infrastructure in ways that the dozen-or -so earlier adopters did not.  During the trial, the vendor, not just the customer, will often discover things they did not know.

I’ve been there.  Irate customers waiting to buy, while the issue gradually escalates up the customer’s chain of command, with each level of the food chain one telling you how much money this downtime is costing them.  “Today is supposed to be the trial” is what you want to say, and it’s the truth, but you bite your tongue, block the noise out and get on with finding the fix.  All this happens while you communicate tersely the vendor, without going overboard, because at this moment, you need them more than they need you.  Software is not a business for the anxious.

I know it was frustrating, but I thought IT did well to stick the stream onto YouTube and get the login process working before halftime.  If only every workaround I’ve been involved with went that smoothly.

Live updates of Celtic v Hibernian will appear below – Pass to Paradise permitting!

    Good game, good game.

That was a decent watch for a dreich Monday afternoon.

Neil will be happy after that, lots to think about, two strikers for a start, really works especially domestically.

Much better second half. Ntcham a class above the opposition. Klimala worked his socks off, and Griff showed some really nice touches. Dembele was a lot more effective in the middle of the park, despite his size.

We need to be ready to break down a massed defence on Sunday.

  4. Very pleasing run out.

It’s now up to these players to grab their chance when it comes.

Lots raised their hands today- N’tcham, Soro, Connell and, above all, Karamoko.

I always though that, if he stayed with us, He would knock wee Jamesie out of the team. Now I think it is Rogic & Christie who might lose out

  5. Enjoyed that from a cracking CTV stream here in Naxos Town…

Great to see Leigh back and Klimala will be an absolute handful but needs a partner. Despite the doom and gloom merchants we have some great talent outside the first 11…

Off to Athens tomorrow. Will hopefully bring us back a keeper whilst I’m there…

  6. Good performance, especially second half.

Impressive performances from Klimala, Connell, Henderson, Robertson, Soro and Dembele. Griffiths looked sharp, and happy to be out there, which we all like to see.

Good run out and no-one had a bad game. Encouraging afternoon.

Final word, well done Celtic TV. Flawless this afternoon. Keep it up.

  7. Delighted with that. Positives all over the place, I wouldn’t fault one of our payers out there.

The problem is when there are points at stake will any of the young ghuns even get a look in.

  8. Connell reminded me a lot of Liam Henderson, similar style, way he takes the ball in, his turning and passing was excellent.

    I enjoyed that very much.

Beyond the real competative games coming I would love to see celtic put all levels of games online live.

Down with these positive comments 😂😂

Another good run out for the Bhoys

  10. Based on today`s evidence, I would say Luke Connell is a player.

Also, if Hazard had just come in for a hefty sum, we would think it was money well spent.

I saw a lot to like today. Roll on Sunday.

  11. A lot of good performances today. Food for thought indeed.

Some of these players deserve a competitive chance. We should use the domestic cups to give them a chance.

` Beyond the real competitive games coming I would love to see celtic put all levels of games online live.`

That seems an excellent idea to me. Is their a downside to it? Would it cost Celtic plc ?

Karamoko , Connell , soro and Henderson look first team ready . Or at least first team squad ready.

`The problem is when there are points at stake will any of the young ghuns even get a look in.`

That is another reason why I am not in agreement with those who think we need another four or five players.

  15. The future looks bright. Would these youngsters perform better with the likes of Brown, McGregor or Julien around them, or would the mot be as confident.

  16. Polish Paddy, Ballon d’Or!

Lots to be positive about in that showing

    HH jg

  17. Thanks for all the updates, Bhoys. Maybe we should have a commentator of the year award to match Jobo’s POTY. Some fine contenders today – and that’s without GG.

Karamoko , Connell , soro and Henderson look first team ready . Or at least first team squad ready.

    ——————-

my only concern would be the thuggery, allthough they all have great technical ability, I think they would get booted all over the pitch.

  19. Thanks for the updates lots of positives.

Its a pity (for the young bhoys) that we’re going for ten.

Between a rock and a hard place.

  20. Klimala took the knocks and kept at it and got his goals. Need that style for certain games. Don’t think Connell wasted a pass – and they were defence splitters! Kaddy needs to stretch an inch or two but is a player and Soro looks the part. Happy overall

  21. if you don’t have Virtual Season ticket and SKY doesn’t allow replays ..what are your options ?

    Any advice ?

  22. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Would echo many post match comments.

    An enjoyable watch.

El Hamed, Ntcham, Klimala, Soro should all make decent contributions to the first team this season.

Leigh showed glimpses of why we should persevere with him.

Lack of fitness showed but, equally, so did his natural ability. Created 3-4 good openings.

The young lads all did fine. Special mention for Karaoke Dembele who was more mature than I expected.

    Promising.

  23. Really enjoyed that, some good performances by the youngsters, Dembele, Connell, Robertson and Henderson in particular.

Soro looks decent, El Hamed and Ntcham showed why they are first team players and Klimala worked hard to get his goals, well one of them anyway, he stole the other from Griffiths, who looked really sharp when he came on.

VST worked perfectly, using a 4K FireStick on Amazon Silk browser, no lag or any other connection issues.

All in all a nice wee start to the afternoon.

  24. Great workout for all of the players superb seamless coverage and picture quality from

    Celtic TV.

Soro looks the part as a sitting midfielder Klimala has a poachers instinct but Karamoko Dembele

shaded man of the match for me.

Back to the A team and a very strong bench on Sunday for the real deal.

    M.O.M Dembele

  25. Rock Tree Bhoy on

Ajeti all but confirmed (ET) on top of LG, PK, VB and Eddie, and now we are being linked with a move to sign Peterborough United striker Ivan Toney,

OK, its still speculative but my read is that Eddie is for the offski.

By the way, thought that LG and PK against Hibs today looked a formidable striking duo.

  26. SAINT STIVS on 27TH JULY 2020 2:57 PM

Only an idiot would predict the outcome , but I see enough to say that Paddy and Griff will score before the end of the game, their movement is good already, and it will click.

    Very nearly correct! :-0

  27. we are a different team playing 2 up top , pass marks to Luka , the goalie , Dembele even more so when he came into middle and he will win a barrow load of free kicks in dangerous areas.

downside AR as I said before will not make it with us , and young Roberson struggled 2nd half
