You read the Scottish Government’s response last week when a Glasgow business won £40m worth of export income, shared with others in their sector from Dingwall to Kilmarnock? Celtic’s Champions League success this month has been phenomenal economic news for Glasgow in particular, and Scotland in general, but it would break the Scottish Government scarcely concealed agenda towards Celtic for them to acknowledge the contribution to our economy.
Instead they peddle some hoary old trash in attempting to defend their thoroughly discredited Offensive Behaviour’ Act, which sought to “equalise” supporters behaving lawfully with those behaving in a sectarian manner.
The Government, which for years placed great political capital into respecting the will of the Scottish Parliament, suddenly decided Parliament’s voice could be ignored by Government, when the chamber voted to repeal the Act in November.
It would choke these people to acknowledge Celtic’s contribution to the country’s economic welfare. They want your votes, they don’t want to listen to you, or Parliament, or any other body who may represent you, unless you conform to a cultish utopian vision.
We live in the age where governments across the globe bang the Bogeyman Drum, while indulging in crass selective seeing and hearing. This Tartan-Peronist outfit would be wise not to cherry-pick how they tackle Celtic supporters, or our club.

If Paddy Roberts was called David Roberts I think there would be a lower valuation placed on him by our support.
I recall moments of wonder, superb goals and genuine ‘get the fans off their seats’ performances.
I also recall some average at best contributions, warming of bench and do not rate PR as being in last season’s top five contributors to our invincible achievement.
So it would be great for Celtic if he came , either as a loan or permanent player because he has enormous potential. It would be really good for PR too as I suspect no other team in Champions League is remotely interested in him.
In this deal I support a hard ball approach as he’s being given plenty..top level coaching, playing in a developing team at the highest level in club football.
There are also risks and mitigations to consider in the form of Forest and Hayes. Both of whom provide good right wing options currently.
Ironically I suspect Forest will suffer most by PR arrival as Hayes could be deployed elsewhere most notably Right back.
So for me Paddy comes in at the right price or he doesn’t.
I’d much prefer to see a Centre Half come in personally. PR would be a smokescreen if he is unveiled as our only bit of business.
Am I correct in thinking that the OBAF Act has resulted in more cases involving the Huns than involving us?
JJ
Paul , Not all of us obsess on one issue, the OBAF act in my opinion is a bad piece of legislation and should be repealed. I’m afraid your labour party hatred of the snp is very obvious. Where your opinion that the snp hates celtic comes from I don’t know as there are lots of people in the snp and among independence supporters who are celtic supporters

Do you thin Paddyopolous would be more popular on CQN ?

Iconoclastic CSC.
Centre half? Dead right. Badly needed.
Is Paddy letting Peter take a Loan of us permanently?

COPFOS, knowing which side their bread is buttered, are using the Act when they could use pre existing legislation or the common law to charge people.
Paddy Bowie? Paddy and Goliath?
Hmmm….maybe you`ve got a point, Cultsbhoy.
Cheerio for now,

You reveal yourself with that comment and confirm my point. I wasn’t indicating any negative prejudice as you perhaps construed.
My point is that the romance of PR is heightened by the positive associations arising from his name.
Anyhow I’m a fan but I’m just not as seduced as others and think that commitment is a two way street.

” If already treated that way anyway then leaving will make no difference. Might as well get our moneys worth! A bigot is a bigot wherever we are playing. ”
That has usually been my view when posters have spoken of The Green Brigade giving a hostile Media ammunition . In this case , though, I was thinking of those throughout Scotland who see Celtic and Rangers ( their view) as two sides of the same coin ( though usually worded differently !) . If we were to leave, I feel those supporters would then hate us more than they hate THEM ( and I think the opposite is true at the moment) and that could escalate into something very unpleasant.
============
Maybe, but their outlet for that hate would be gone. Anyway, the views of such people will not be a factor in determining Celtics future as a football club!

You made your point much more clearly here:

PS FWIW, though, I thought that is what you meant anyway.

Tough. A party which doesn’t like dissent,no matter internal or external.
I know a fella who was kicked out of his job as an elected SNP MSP because he didn’t toe the party line on everything. Quite a minor issue compared to the dissent shown in other parties.
Diss them online, reap the whirlwind. It’s really quite an eyeopener how central and rigid their control is.
Loan Deal — Hey Ho .
Lots of gum bumping in Napoli cyberspace re the Club’s slowness to strengthen the squad for season 2017 / 2018 .
Club attempted to quieten the bumping with a statement that a super duper prospect was lined up if they qualified for the Champions League .
Cue Champions League Qualification – cue the relevation that the super duper prospect was a loan deal from Manchester City ( Oleksandr Zinchenko ) and there was no way City were going to let him play for Napoli in the Champions League… No deal . Hey Ho.
Jonny Hayes at right back…
Hmmmm
Cults you certainly have a unique view of the game:))
Spare me the party political broadcast, I come here to hear your opinion on football, not politics.
Trad
I think our support would become the outlet for their anger,hatred/dislike and that could give some cause for concern.
Whether that possibility would give the Club cause for consideration is another matter.

I’ve watched Hayes at AFC over 5 seasons. He plays rb and lb positions regularly. He does well in both.

Paul seldom opines on such matters.
It’s something notable and should cause those reading to take stock.
Some having a laugh and asking if Ernie has contributed too. Ernie as you may know has polarised vision when it comes to such.
But M, it’s Scotland. Every facet , institution et-al, have vile bigots on board. Blatant, open and both unashamed and in in un-shamed.

Your view is a minority view(ie. yourself) for a very good reason mate.
Its like John Barnes telling football fans in England the reason he failed in Scotland was because he was black and English.
Reality was it was because he was a disaster for Celtic.
Patrick? David? John? Mohammed? Roberts
Who cares what hes called.
Hes young, genius at times, has that nonchalance and swagger thats so hard to find these days, backs it up with end product and markedly grew in stature in his 18 months here already.
Yes hes human and a winger and will have off days. No one is expecting Messi(I assume we wouldnt want him anyway unless he changed his name to Seamus).
When it comes to the Tartan Tories their history is more Phalangist than Peronist.
The only thing that holds them together is their hatred of England.
Not always the same part of England but something English nevertheless.
Currently ordering in popcorn by the ton so that I can enjoy the growing Wee Eck / Nippy Sweetie spat.
CULTSBHOY SAYS HAIL HAIL TO HECTOR AND BRENDAN
That was at Aberdeen, he seems to be struggling on the wing for us, to put him in a position of responsibility in defence would see the jersey drown him..
Nothing against the boy but I don’t think he’s going to make it with us..
“The statement (Aberdeen FC) read: “The club can confirm Gary Mackay-Steven was involved in an incident in the River Kelvin on Sunday morning.
“He was treated for hypothermia but is now at home and recovering well.”
Thank God he is recovering.
i think that JH is suffering from the same issue that GMS had when he was here , both are left sided players who will never remove SS from left side, both players selected to play or played in wrong position imo.

How much would a striker called something a bit more exotic, maybe Leonardo for example, be worth if he had recently scored 2 free kicks against England……..
Big cup winner
Ill concede if his name was Mason Roberts…id be less interested…
