THE Greg Taylor transfer saga is heading for completion.
The left-back is officially out of contract at Celtic at the end of the month and is free to find a new club.
After months of swithering, it’s make-your-mind-up-time for the Scotland international defender.
Taylor, who joined the Hoops in a £2.1million deal from Kilmarnock in September 2019, is poised to move on with former fans’ favourite Kieran Tierney returning to Parkhead from Arsenal on July 1.
Brendan Rodgers has stated his preference to have both players in his squad, but talks have continually stalled with the 27-year-old full-back’s advisors.
WINNERS AND LOSERS…Greg Taylor and Callum McGregor celebrate the Premier Sports League Cup triumph over Rangers in December and (below) Taylor and Alistair Johnston look shattered after the Scottish Cup loss to Aberdeen last month.
With a last-gasp agreement seemingly highly unlikely, Taylor’s last game will remain the Scottish Cup Final penalty-kick loss to Aberdeen at Hampden last month when the club’s hopes of a sixth treble in nine years were scuppered.
It will be sad a farewell to a player who won 11 honours – including five titles – at the club after being bought by Neil Lennon almost six years ago.
Croatian aces Dinamo Zagreb were first to take notice of Taylor’s impending shift from the Hoops and expressed an interest, but they have been overtaken by Greek giants PAOK are about to launch an improved offer, according to a report in the The Scottish Sun.
It is stated the Thessaloniki outfit are ready to put a two-year deal on the table with an option of a 12-month extension.
It’s also suggested he will receive a “significantly improved” salary package compared to what he earned at Celtic.
Taylor is currently in Dubai with his family and has yet to make a firm decision.
