Celtic hammered Newco 5-1 home and away last season, knocked them out both cups, won one other game and conceded a late equaliser, allowing Newco their only moment of (cough) glory last season.
We finished 39 points ahead of Newco (who were 33 points from bottom). As we set off for the summer, glowing after the first invincible treble in history, chairman of Newco, that complete muppet Dave King, told the assembled media, “In footballing terms I don’t think Celtic are as far ahead as they could have been – certainly with our new signings.”
The two 5-1 defeats now look like Python’s Black Knight losing his legs one at a time, but protesting they were little more than flesh wounds. Except Python was a parody, this guy is being serious!
So, Brendan, Peter, Dermot, get the finger out. These people don’t believe 5-1 is a substantial enough winning margin. When we pitch up at Ibrox on the weekend of 23/24 September, ‘go Medieval on their ass’ to borrow from Quentin.
Take five minutes to update yourself on The Road to Lisbon cyclists, who traveled from Celtic Park to Estadio Nacional last month.
This has been a phenomenal and inspiring effort by a group of Celtic fans – and so many donors. What a great thing to be a part of.

Shocking bs from the suits, scared of their own shadows ffs.
I would have took my chances:)
HH
Celtic have to play whoever is put in front of them according to who is running the competition. Whilst I may not agree with the fans not having a presence there, if that game goes ahead just remember they are likely to report Celtic to UEFA if a Celtic fan were to break wind in their ground.
To me the Club are boxing sensibly here. Why have your European qualification put in jeopardy because of a Neanderthal club and their bigoted support?
I know everyone will see it differently but in my opinion the Club are not capitulating here, they have been put in a very difficult position (intentionally?) by UEFA. Don’t forget the Green Brigade made donkeys out of UEFA last season with the match the fine for Palestine campaign and some of those basturts won’t like that. So let’s not give them an excuse to make us play a game at home behind closed doors.
Pog- good post, when you need Air Force 1 to get to and from a football match, something is wrong.UEFA should have made sure this tie wasn’t happening, they fix everything else…
Curiously,
Can POG claim to be a Native American…..can a skin graft make u an a patch ye ;-))

Travel fae Glasgow to Belfast would have been fine for us on Friday 14th. No happy.
The players are still very much at risk not just supporters and begs the question, why are Linfield allowed in the competition?
Im going for a haircut, does anybody from the CQN ‘We know what’s best’ Committee, want to come with me to tell the barber what to do?
Or maybe you can come round at dinner time, to check if ive cooked it properly.
Dear oh fecking dear….the curtain-twitchers at it again.
How have i managed to survive all these years without the wonderful guidance of CQN and the PLC. It truly is a miracle.

Spoilsport, ‘its all for the best’ bollocks.
What next….will CQN be doing a fingerprint check ffs:)

1.500 Tickets for them, if they qualify.
https://videocelts.com/2017/06/blogs/fans/linfield-due-1500-tickets-for-celtic-park/
TGM, I’m not saying it’s right but I rather watch Celtic against a last 32 team than against those knuckle dragging tosspots.
When you go for that haircut can I suggest ‘The Lionel Blair’ :-)
There were a couple of other ties that were made in the same draw as our one that uefa made sure teams from certain countries were kept apart, Kosovo and Serbia were one, can’t recall the other one, shirly the prospect of Linfield and Celtic should have been in that catagory, as for the club not taking tickets, I think I agree with them on this, the tie has the pontential to blow up, with us not taking tickets any bother and we will have nothing to get any blame for and blame is what would be coming our way for sure.
Tis a shame for scottish based supporters, but there will be plenty of Irish Tims there, of that you can be sure.
Personally Linfield shouldn’t be allowed to host games if they can’t guarantee the safety of supporters, end of.
As for our players being at risk, they will be as much as any other game they play, the psni will not be wanting anything to happen on their watch.
TLT, having been born in the Americas I most certainly can.
geronimocsc
No Celtic fans section in Belfast???
Truly a Bankier-like decision,
Celtic fans will be forced to look to access hospitality or go amongst the home fans- that is the worst of all worlds
What bit of Linfield’s fans being perfectly safe at Parkhead are you not getting?
TLT aye, only liquidation doesn’t seem to mean much in some quarters so I doubt if it would be that effective against the blood of our blood, the boners of our boner.
SFTB
I think Celtic are hoping for a total boycott?
Celtic fans were not safe in Amsterdam…and in the Gallowgate.
Where was all the concern then?
Bollocks.
HH
Hope they struggle to sell those tickets now, mind you the huns will probably snap them up.
Forget the Black Knight – I’d like to know which club is the Dead Parrot…..
UEFA already manipulate these draws somewhat putting teams into two pots of five possible opponents the night before the draw
Not to mention keeping teams from Ukraine and Russia apart. And also teams from Kosovo and Serbia.
So don’t know how it was beyond their wit to keep Celtic apart from this shower especially given their kulchural baggage.
The worry is with coefficient as it is and UEFA gerrymandering the draw as they do we move in ever decreasing circles e.g. Drawn against Icelandic teams 2 years in a row in 2014 and 2015. Chances are we are likely to get drawn against this shower again at the same stage if not next year then the year after.
It’s not sustainable to keep refusing tickets if that happens.
They might be crap but by dint of the hooliganism, violent, bigoted knuckledragging tendency of their “support” they have been handed a sporting advantage by having a game played in front of a frenzied home support, drunk on the fumes of a week long state endorsed carnival of bigotry and anti-Catholicism.
Lying down to this is shameful.
Last time I was in Argos they were selling 6ft High inflatable dinosaurs..
I was in at the ticket office earlier withnmy application for the home ticket scheme.
The chap who took my application told me they have been inundated with home ticket scheme applications this week with today being the deadline for applying to join it.
With regard to the planned parking restrictions around Celtic Park by the council. I drove down Springfield Road after leaving the ticket office . At the junction of Springfield and Dalmarnock Roads , there is a sign on a lampost saying football parking. The sign is next to what was the bus park for the Commonwealth Games athletes.
Could the council be pushing ahead with the parking restrictions from next season irrespective of the problems faced by people with mobility issues or young children having to walk up Springfield Road with their parent(s) to get to Celtic Park ?
drunk on the fumes of a week long state endorsed carnival of bigotry and anti-Catholicism.
Excellent CSC
BSr
They might well be hoping for that
But the biggest enthusiasts for the boycott are those who had no intention of going and those who will be in the official party and attending whilst others are forced to boycott the fixture.
If it is not safe for the fans, it is not safe for the team.
Disgraceful decision Celtic and nonsensical also.
If they are concerned about supporter safety, why agree to switch the game to a Friday?
Why not just play the stupid game on the Tuesday or Wednesday, sure there won’t be any Celtic supporters allowed to go anyway?
Was the PSNI therefore saying that the team’s safety can’t be guaranteed if it’s played on the 11th or 12th?
No our problem that.
That snake pit, much as I dislike the midden – It’s well segregated, and it’s easily segregated.
Gift to go to also from the West, either via Atown, or straight down the Donegal Road across the M1 – No contact whatsoever with any hyenas.
West Belfast wanted this game, any date or time that Linfield stipulated.
Perfect result for the hyenas and the cops, brilliant for the hand wringers also, who nobody was asking to attend anyway by the way.
Disaster for the Celtic support.
I’m not even gonna watch that shambles on the TV.
HH.
Apparently the decision not to take tickets has been Celtic’s and only Celtic’s. The bottom line is our Club don’t trust our fans to go to Linfield and behave themselves. Talk of safety concerns is hiding behind that fact.
SFTB
I agree completely. If Celtic decide not to take an allocation then it will increase the likelihood of Celtic supporters sitting in amongst the home fans.
Personally, I also think it’s a poor decision as it looks like we’re backing down to naked anti Catholicism and anti Irish racism.
I don’t believe Paul67 wrote today’s article…it’s got that wormy naive proxy feel about it.
SFTB
I agree, the spectre of Linfield hatred didn’t come on it’s own and disagreement and division within us came gift wrapped with the draw.
I was surprised with Paul67’s leader as I thought we’d want total control of ticket allocation.
I blame UEFA not Celtic.
After discussions. which, as far as I know did not include anyone from CQN, Celtic FC decided that:
“No tickets will be available for Celtic supporters for the match. The safety and security of all Celtic supporters travelling and attending matches is of paramount importance to the Club.”
Disagree ( from a less informed position) if you wish but some of the criticism of this decision is over the top and smacks of being used as a vehicle to criticise the Celtic Board..
JJ
At the end of the day the powers that be don’t separate us, they see us as bad as each other, the fact our support have won awards means nothing, the huns will lay the blame for their misgivings at out door and uefa and the like will swallow it, this will keep on happening till the club grow a set and stand up for themselfs.
Some on here could start a rammy in an empty stadium……….
BSR
” I blame UEFA not Celtic.” Quite right and even more that UEFA, I blame the Linfield support. The root of the problem.
P.s.
And Linfield who are arrogantly riding roughshod over security
`than` not `that`.
On the subject of the nominative plural of “I” when referring to Celtic I see today that:
We are blaming Uefa after we sold the jerseys again and that we dont take up the Linfield ticket allocation because we know we will get in trouble with UEFA again and we dont want to piss off UEFA because ultimately we can make more money for we when we qualify so we kow tow. Not much money for we in this wee game anyway.
TTR – 100% correct.
Why agree to switch the game day then?
Wtf is that all about?
They obviously travelled over here, sat down with the cops and the Belfast monkey club representatives – listened to and agreed with everything they had to say.
Everybody here was looking forward to the game, just to go watch the team in a well behaved, peaceful mode.
They let us down.
Gone.
KTF.
Hopefully, we’re nearly there!
