It’s that time again, buckle in!

The final dice on what could become our second nine-in-a-row season is set to be cast.  I expect business to be done but the usual caveats apply, it takes agent, player, selling club and buying club to be in alignment for a deal to happen and if one gets cold feet a deal will not happen.

For me, the position of greatest need is central defence.  Jozo Simunovic and Nir Bitton are enduring injury problems which have forced their absence for much of the campaign.  The loss of multiple wingers is less a concern, as I realllllly hope we play three at the back and two strikers for much of the remainder of the season.

Buckle in!!

Think we should judge when the window closes. Neil’s pressers have been poor in relation to players coming in and he should just learn to say nothing. Gets the fans hopes up and then possibly dashes them. I would be extremely disappointed if we had no winger and centre back by 12 tonight. I wouldn’t be surprised as our board are prepared to gamble with 9 but not in the transfer market.

I’ll be a little surprised if Lawrence Shankland ends the day at Dundee Utd.

I know Dundee Utd are a good club and have been a good club for him but they play in the Scottish Championship, and money talks.

Whatever is said about his all round game, and I havent seen enough of him, but goals change games and he has some record.

I’d be surprised if no struggling English Championship club makes an offer at least.

That said would then be great if Dundee Utd were in a position to reject it.

From our point of view I can only assume we have decided he is not quite at the level required…

  9. I believe someone got paid to write this headline “EXCLUSIVE! Ianis Hagi’s journey to Rangers laid bare as star tipped to be ‘one of the world’s greatest’. So they are really going for it in an effort to stop 9-in-a-row with this 6 month U21 loanee.

Given Mikey Johnson’s injury problems it might also have been a better idea to keep Louis Morgan also. Most sentient supporters would prefer to keep the players that are fit and available, including those you mentioned, unfortunately that is not the Lenny way. Lenny sees himself as some kind of Seer. He sees a future for Jozo! Sadly some fans “see” things the same way. Did you know that there was a Martin (Morton) Commpner CSC? That is what we are up against.

I’d like us to be more than fractions ahead in Scotland, 100% qualified for CL back in Aug/Sept and not worried if we’re going to have a fit defence to face Copenhagen and hopefully others in the EL in Feb March.

Small spending on what the manager asked for might have helped with above.

The squad is more than capable of winning the league on paper . The problem is our extensive injury list. A long term injury to one or more of Forrest, Julien or Ajer on top of that could threaten the 9.

  22. Since when did Jullien and Ajer, become average, soft CHs.Ask Kenny Miller how soft Jozo is.In a week or two we will have Biton,Elhamed back.ElHamed who played a lot of his time at CH.Just who would the moaners bring in.Some saying the guy from Motherwell.WHO ?.That’s who you get to come in and be prepared to wait on someone getting injured. How the fek we are top of the league with the first trophy in the bag, bewilders me.

Elyanoussi and Soro to come in to a team that ,no matter what some think, are winning. How many bloody players do you want.

It’s about the probability of winning. At present we are favourites, but not by much. I just want our cavernous financial advantage to be translated into a greater footballing advantage which would increase the probability of winning the league.

    @ TURKEYBHOY on 31ST JANUARY 2020 2:43 PM

You seem to think that we won’t get further injuries this season. Elhamed, Jozo and Bitton are all fairly unreliable.

If the favoured formation if 3-5-2, we cannot go into the rest of the season relying on those 3. Additionally, Lenny has stated that he wants 4 strikers for two positions. If so, 6 CBs for 3 positions is hardly outlandish. Particularly as two of the aforementioned are not natural CBs and even Ajer is a converted CB.

There is no need to gamble with 9.

As a PL fan I must admit to being a bit underwhelmed by our CEO in this window

In any other window I get the cat and mouse of buying footballers

But I can only think of 2 occasions in our history when we have an opportunity to win 9 in a row

And I can only think of one occasion (now) when we have had the financial muscle to influence the outcome

IMHO Our only ambition should be to secure 9 in a row (anything else is cream)

For clarity I would rather win the league than the EL in 2020

At 2.45 in the afternoon on deadline day i’m not sure PL has excelled himself and given NL a bit more quality to improve the chances of winning 9

It could be argued that we have enough and perhaps we do – but a little more insurance would be nice

Especially as we have the money

However our CEO has a habit of pulling the proverbial rabbit from a last minute hat

    Only time will tell

  30. The Hands,

Dear God,every team gets injuries. Are you saying we should just sign guys,in case of an injury. We would have a 1st team pool of 35 players. We can only get 5 on the bench.Would the rest sit in the stands.
