Ivorian link at work again, this time in Athens

774

With three deals done, the pace of transfer activity at Celtic appears to be approaching relentless.  The Ivorian link will have been at work again, as news that we are interested in Olympiakos full back, Omar Elabdellaoui, testifies.  Celtic coach, Kolo Toure’s brother Yaya, spent half a season at the Greek club before leaving last month.

Signing players is always a risk, so getting a first-hand insight into how a player performs from someone who has worked with him daily for the last six months is a huge advantage.  Bear in mind, Elabdellaoui is just one of the right backs Celtic are considering.  This one could run a while.

Reports from the US that we have agreed a deal to sign 22-year-old left back Andrew Gutman are amusing, mostly as he was being trailed as a signing elsewhere in the city.  Great to see that as well as using our Ivorian links, we have plenty of connections at Scotland’s smaller clubs.  If he arrives, hopefully Callum McGregor will not see more action in that position.

  2. The Huddle

Brendan works wi them everyday at training.

That is all I put it down to.

Maybe Mulumbu and Izzy are poor at training?

Your sounds posted lately are magic, thanks.

Yeah, not really a criticism of who BR picks more when he picks them and then we don’t see them again.

Like the game at Hearts, playing Kouassi, seems crazy to throw him into that.

Personally think, the squad players should be played in our home games.

  5. The Huddle- easier for guys to play at home rather than away, agree,.Away form been poor this season, too many changes, but a lot of enforced changes due to the plastic pitches IMO, doesn’t help. A good run of home games coming up,we should get back on track.HH

I very much doubt there will be any significant outcome from the meeting and afterwards we will revert to the status quo until the next time. I hope i am wrong. Once the football starts next week it will all be forgotten.

  9. Put the Mulumbu question to rest.

He was the dressing room guy who told Kris Boyd there was unrest.

Silly but he’s paying the price.

  14. Bada,

From last night mate. PL’s bonus is irrelevant only because it would make no difference to our transfer budget.

I agree, it’s big and I don’t agree with it but he’s just an employee with a contract.

It’s the guy who gave him the contract who should be scrutinised more.

When considering the points dropped this season to date, don’t forget to factor in the extra 6 weeks of football most of our players have been involved in, including travel for International matches, that other clubs have had match free.

I believe that lack of proper rest and recuperation time has also impacted on the injury list.

Thanks for that heads up for The Charlatans gig on BBC Alba. They played a totally different set, when I saw them at Hydro last month. Amazing to see their versatility.

    Two totally different concerts.

That’s the genius Tim Burgess for you. Turn up to see The Charlatans and be surprised. The clue is in their name.?
