Ivorian link at work again, this time in Athens

774

With three deals done, the pace of transfer activity at Celtic appears to be approaching relentless.  The Ivorian link will have been at work again, as news that we are interested in Olympiakos full back, Omar Elabdellaoui, testifies.  Celtic coach, Kolo Toure’s brother Yaya, spent half a season at the Greek club before leaving last month.

Signing players is always a risk, so getting a first-hand insight into how a player performs from someone who has worked with him daily for the last six months is a huge advantage.  Bear in mind, Elabdellaoui is just one of the right backs Celtic are considering.  This one could run a while.

Reports from the US that we have agreed a deal to sign 22-year-old left back Andrew Gutman are amusing, mostly as he was being trailed as a signing elsewhere in the city.  Great to see that as well as using our Ivorian links, we have plenty of connections at Scotland’s smaller clubs.  If he arrives, hopefully Callum McGregor will not see more action in that position.

*NAW HE’S NO, he’s just playing up tae the evangelical crowd. Saw a couple of their pastors prior tae the election saying normally with his lifestyle they widnae vote for him but his pro life stance carried it for them.

Recent commentaries have said the last conversation any of his former girlfriends would have with him is when they told him they were lat, he then turned it over tae one of his henchmen. He’s an effin con man.

My doc and my nursing guard save I have to relax and not get excited.

So just a wee comment on Trump and abortion.

He has tried to exclude funding from Planned Parenthood and reinstated the Mexico City Policy which bans US aid from being given for abortions.

With Ginsberg suffering from successful cancer treatment and unable to to participate in oral arguments this last week, speculation is rising that Trump may have a second shot at a Supreme Court appointment. Of course the abortion at any time advocates in the democrat party have already declared war on Catholic judicial nominees for the lower courts.

They have openly questioned their Catholic faith in hearings.

Their worst nightmare is Amy Barret a practicing Catholic with 7 kids, 2 adopted.

At her hearing for her appointment to the Supreme Court in 2017, Senator Feinstein attacked her with a quote that “The dogma lives loudly within you.”

In recent weeks a judicial nominee has had his membership of the KOC questioned.

It seems that if you follow Church teaching you can’t be a Democrat or a nominee for a judgeship on major appeals circuit, despite a ban on a religious litmus test for judicial nominees.

Back to Trump. In the unlikely event he has a second nominee to the Supreme Court the bun fight will make the attacks on Kavanaugh look like a slight skirmish. A Barret nomination will look like Armageddon.

This is and has taken and is too long when I could be enjoying the Patriots destroy Chargers.

Do folk beleive this stuff ??

    Probably

After all many beleive that Peter Lawwell spends his days in his palatial office, counting his money, turning down deals for world class players ,drinking fine wines, organising the burning and looting of orphanages and doing his utmost to prevent Celtic being succesful…

  14. Rumours eh, one I noticed from about a week ago on Etims, watch out for an outfit called Windy City, around about the 20th of January, was not clear which club it was concerning I think it was described as a gamechanger.

  15. Marrakesh Express on

Don’t post much these days but still love the blog. Anyway I brought up the subject of Jock Stein in the Brazen earlier and btw I’m the wean at 63 (some who went to Lisbon).

I made the point that in 64/65 season we finished 8th, 3 points behind Clyde. Stein took over in February 65, and in 14 months he won the league and got robbed by Liverpool at Anfield. I would not change that decision if i could because it would’ve changed the course of history. Forward one year and Celtic are the best team in Europe, probably the World.

In 27 months Stein at 44 achieved a miracle.

He is the single greatest figure ever in our National sport.

At Ibrox on 29 December this great Scottish Sportsman had his name openly tarnished by banners in front of a global audience. I have no doubt that, as much as some bitter English rivalries exist, that not one English fan or support anywhere will abuse the name of eg Charlton or Ferguson with banners seemingly condoned by club stewards.

Even worse is the lack of condemnation by what has to be the worst and dumbest Scottish MSM..EVER..

Horrible wee country, held back by ignorance.

Was the PL secretary rumour not the one about the picture of a letter saying there’d be an announcement tomorrow ?

Etims also alarmingly said McKenna deal was a goer (foxtrot foxtrot Sierra ) ?

  18. MARRAKESH EXPRESS on 13TH JANUARY 2019 9:21 PM

Held back by ignorance? More like Racism, Bigotry and Sectarianism.

  19. Marrakesh…..great post about Jock Stein.

I don’t think we’ll try to sign Scott McKenna for the simple reason that Benkovic plays in the exact same position.

I know we need defenders but for the next 18 games we are going to face terrible tackles and decisions and for that reason I think signing a real experienced player that will go the extra mile because he’s a Celtic fan.

Like Hartley or the Keanes or NFL or even Craig Bellamy.

I think with 20 mins in a close game at Ibrox or Tynecastle or wherever we would have a better chance with McArthy or McGeady or James McLean in the team.

    DAVID17..

Yes, the word ignorance covers just about covers it all. Over the years I’ve found a raw nerve when trying to discuss the crap with them. ‘It all comes down to a lack of education ‘…A very neutral statement which hits the target.

  21. Tom Brady cruises past Chargers to a match up against the Chiefs in Arrowhead.

Now for the Eagles Saints, which will likely end up with the Eagles having their wings clipped..

Only thing missing from this relaxing day is a wee win for Celtic.

Are racism, sectarianism and bigotry, not the consequences of poor education and ignorance?
