Ivorian link at work again, this time in Athens

774

With three deals done, the pace of transfer activity at Celtic appears to be approaching relentless.  The Ivorian link will have been at work again, as news that we are interested in Olympiakos full back, Omar Elabdellaoui, testifies.  Celtic coach, Kolo Toure’s brother Yaya, spent half a season at the Greek club before leaving last month.

Signing players is always a risk, so getting a first-hand insight into how a player performs from someone who has worked with him daily for the last six months is a huge advantage.  Bear in mind, Elabdellaoui is just one of the right backs Celtic are considering.  This one could run a while.

Reports from the US that we have agreed a deal to sign 22-year-old left back Andrew Gutman are amusing, mostly as he was being trailed as a signing elsewhere in the city.  Great to see that as well as using our Ivorian links, we have plenty of connections at Scotland’s smaller clubs.  If he arrives, hopefully Callum McGregor will not see more action in that position.

Turkeybhoy lost the plot with them last night.

    Cant blame him.

  2. Happy New Year to all my fellow Tims. I’d a great festive season here in the Emerald Isle but it’s good to be back to normality. Next Saturday can’t come quick enough, really miss it when the Hoops are not playing.

Does anyone have any idea when official details regarding date/time will be announced for the Sevco game at the end of March? We have flights booked over from Éire so really hoping the game is on the Saturday lunchtime.

    Do you really think so.?

Surely the more succesful Celtic are the bigger Lawwells bonus??

  5. Guttenberg- his bonus compared to a similar small /medium sized turnover is ridiculous, i know it was a 2/3 year bonus…he is on more than 90% of EPL CEO’s….

It was a 3 years bonus, and probably his final golden handshake before going. All businesses do this. He’ll be gone soon and the next guy will do everything better :O)

There’s no way any of the CEOs of top English teams are picking up less than PL.

  7. thomthethim for Oscar OK on

Peter Lawwell has to work harder than any CEO in England.

They get money thrown at them. He has to go out and hustle for it.

  8. petec jibber jabber……

Last season Celtic were awesome away from home and quite poor at the Holy Ground.

The rebel songs are sung more than Celtic songs away from Home in Scotland.

Remember that so many Celts have no idea of the rebel songs. Need the sonics that will boost the players on the pitch to help get the 8.

    His bonus is irrelevant.

He has a job to do as CE of a PLC.

There’s no part of me that thinks that Celtic failing will increase his bonus.

If you know different then happy to defer.

  10. Like for like,Peter Lawwell will be massively overpaid before bonus, compared to any EPL Club

You really think the CEO of Man City is getting paid less than the CEO of a minnow club from Scotland? What about the Man U one, they turn over £600mill a year?

  12. Guttenberg- thanks for replies, it’s totally out of sync with a club of our size IMO and some bhoys on here who are used to the bonus thingy said it was hugely disproportionate to the in ome etc. I am not financial guy,but i have had a ST for 34 years, long before Peter Lawwell turned up ,do i get a bonus?
