TOMOKI IWATA, Ange Postecoglou’s third signing for Celtic in this transfer window, is on his way to Glasgow.

The J-League Player of the Year began his journey to join up with his new team-mates and could be introduced to the fans before the Premiership match against Kilmarnock at Parkhead tomorrow afternoon.

Iwata, a 25-year-old defensive midfielder from Postecoglou’s former club Yokohama F Marinos, completes the manager’s hat-trick with Canada World Cup right-back Alistair Johnston, who made his debut in Monday’s 2-2 draw at Ibrox, and left-sided central defender Yuki Kobayashi, from Vissel Kobe, arriving last month.

WINGING HIS WAY TO PARADISE…Tomoki Iwata prepares to fly from Japan to Scotland.

The anchorman will join on an initial loan deal with the switch becoming permanent in the summer in the identical manner as the agreement that took Daizen Maeda from the same club a year ago.

An initial fee of £1million is reported to have been agreed between the clubs.

Iwata will become the sixth Japanese player signed by Postecoglou in 18 months as he joins Kyogo Furuhashi, Reo Hatate, Yosuke Ideguchi, Meada and Kobayashi at the champions.

“Everything about Celtic excites me,” he said in a CQN report last week.
