IZAGUIRRE’S FIVE-YEAR PLAN
EMILIO IZAGUIRRE has admitted he wants to stay for five more years at Celtic before moving back home to his former club in Honduras.
The 29-year-old left-back has already spent five years at Parkhead since his move from homeland side Motagua.
And Izaguirre believes he can stay with the Hoops until he is 34. He said: “I’m sentimental and my dream is to return to Motagua and retire after playing for them again.
“I want to play for Celtic for five more years and then go home. I’m on my way back to Celtic now for pre-season training. The goal is to be better than the previous year.
“We will play the preliminary round of the Champions League and the first step is to overcome this obstacle and go further in the tournament.”
Izaguirre has already played over 200 games for Celtic and would eventually be due a testimonial if he fulfils his dream of playing for the Parkhead club until 2020.
Meanwhile, as CQN Magazine revealed yesterday, former Celtic striker John Guidetti has the choice of moving to Lazio or Sevilla after his Parkhead loan move disappointment.
The ex-Manchester City hitman is a free agent after his stint in Glasgow, where he complained he didn’t play because he told manager Ronny Deila he wouldn’t be staying with the Scottish champions.
Now Guidetti – who played for Sweden last night in their 4-3 penalties win over Portugal in the European Under-21 Championships Final – will make his decision on his new club soon.
But Serie A side Sevilla and La Liga giants Lazio lead the chase. Guidetti, who scored his nation’s first penalty-kick after the game had ended goalless following extra-time, said: “I’m not worried about not having a new club yet. “I decided to trust my agents and concentrate only on the Under-21 European Finals. “They told me it will be sorted out and I would expect my future to be resolved with a new club soon.
“I have learned from my setbacks and it’s something that makes me stronger.”
