BRENDAN RODGERS has described comeback Bhoy Emilio Izaguirre as being “the perfect fit” for Celtic.
The Hoops boss welcomed back the 32-year-old Hondurian international defender last week after the player’s 12 months absence.
Izaguirre spent seven years with the champions before moving to Saudi Arabian club Al-Fayha at the end of the Irishman’s first season in charge.
However, Rodgers is delighted they have been reunited and said: “To sign Emilio was an opportunity that came to us late on while we were striving to get cover for Kieran Tierney and to allow young Calvin Miller to go out on loan.
“Emilio fits the bill perfectly. He knows the club, having played for the team, so it’s an easy adaption for him.
“His family are coming back and they’re happy, too. He’s ready if and when he is needed.
“He’s had a season with me, so he understands a lot of the principles of how we work. His profile and fitness all suit and it’s good to see him again.”
Izaguirre has agreed a one-year deal with the Parkhead outfit.
