Jack, Kris and Marvin

412

I’ve loved the coverage Jack Hendry and Kris Ajer received for their international appearances over the break.  The situation in central defence is fluid, with Jozo Simunovic, Dedryck Boyata and (on loan) Erik Sviatchenko each with questions to answer, Jack and Kris have to be considered as having an equal chance of starting the Scottish Cup semi-final.

The thing I’m most looking forward to is seeing Marvin Compper fully fit.  There can be no doubt that Brendan sees Marvin as a crucial element in developing younger players around him, in particular with an eye on the Champions League qualifiers.

Saturday’s home game against Ross County is a perfect opportunity to give Marvin a start, while resting one of the international travellers.  Let’s hope he plays.

repost from last story as P67 put up a new story…

I know there were complaints about ticket sales for the semi, and exorbitant charges, so I thought I would mention this …

It has been announced that sports teams sell tickets directly to, and get substantial payments from, ticket “reseller” Stubhub, who often sell tickets for more than 200%. Basically, clubs are scalping tickets to fans. Disgraceful.

We have to realize that the clubs see fans first and foremost as a source of revenue, and we need to deal with the club accordingly. That is not to say that the club and the fans don’t have many common goals, and can’t work together. But, if we hope to accomplish anything, we need to be honest with ourselves about the nature of our role and the nature of our relationship with and to the club ….

Meanwhile Rodgers has played down the prospect of winger Scott Sinclair, who has scored 42 goals since arriving in the summer of 2016, returning to England this summer.

“I just think between now and the end of the season this is probably where the stories begin, and if reporters aren’t sure they’ll probably just do what they normally do – make it up,” he said.

We must be leaving a door open in Lennoxtown. If the window is shut, but we are still losing players? :)

The thought of all those EBT gracing our football pitches for so long still sticks in the craw.

However, our fight is not with them. It is with their club and the SFA.

Hand on heart, if any of us went for a job and the company told us that our wages would go further if they paid part of it through a Trust Fund, of which we had control.

That way, we would gain what would have been paid in tax, as it was exempt.

On the off chance that HMRC would come looking for tax, then the company would pay it.

    What would we have done?

    Honestly.

  9. I am off to Croatia tomorrow. I will take Jozo with me.

A big disappointment that he has not worked out but we cannot depend on him.

  10. Brendan Rodgers says Kris Ajer is quick, that’s good enough for me. Not really sure why anyone says otherwise.

  11. A bit disappointed that I didn’t find a stained glass window to kick a hole in, but then again I’m not a bishop.

The stroll on Nairn beach was excellent and helped clear my bunged-up napper. Heading to the Beastie tonight to take them up on their £19.99 offer for a ribeye steak with all the trimmings and a large glass of wine. Back down the road tomorrow and head for Coias on Saturday. I have a hot date their at 13:00 then onto Paradise to find out why I paid £2.30 to Print@Home.

Still waiting for Hamilton Accies to put their tickets on sale.

  12. Thanks DD

Save me petrol and parking. Pick me up at 15.00.

No English refs at World Cup …….at least we won’t hear the bollox we had in last one, after an English linesman got an offside right, 10 minutes later we were told he was ‘probably the best assistant ref in the world..’

He would probably have said go for it, as the club have covered you, as Trusts are tax exempt, as they were then, I believe.

Just after the Dalmarnock Bridge do a right and cut through the Athlete’s Village.

Hi Matt, been ‘oot’ as they say in this parish. Yesterday morning, about 9.30ish the tail back from the roadworks was way beyond that turn-off (which I normally use for parking for the game), almost to the bridge itself, so I think with a crowd arriving on Saturday there are bound to be major delays.
