Jack, Kris and Marvin

412

I’ve loved the coverage Jack Hendry and Kris Ajer received for their international appearances over the break.  The situation in central defence is fluid, with Jozo Simunovic, Dedryck Boyata and (on loan) Erik Sviatchenko each with questions to answer, Jack and Kris have to be considered as having an equal chance of starting the Scottish Cup semi-final.

The thing I’m most looking forward to is seeing Marvin Compper fully fit.  There can be no doubt that Brendan sees Marvin as a crucial element in developing younger players around him, in particular with an eye on the Champions League qualifiers.

Saturday’s home game against Ross County is a perfect opportunity to give Marvin a start, while resting one of the international travellers.  Let’s hope he plays.

    Morning from central california,,

    MIT,,if you dont mind,

I noted with interest your post highlighting greed vs fans essentially.

That your particular example took place in a different sport is not really important I feel.

This particular clash has been long in the making and will be very interesting to watch develop.

The prem perhaps isnt the best place to look as they dont actually need the fans money,,the tv rights are more than enough but the broadcasters demand fans.

However it looks like the prem will breed this clash indeed.

It could have been Liverpool with that 77 quid walk out but their board backed down. Rightly not only because 77 is too much but also that is a club with fans that actually will all pull in the same direction when it comes to whats right for the fans and the club in general.

Looks like it will be the hammers who are finally the straw that breaks the camels back.

Its a shocking state of affairs down there. Its a club I hold a wee bit of affection for as not only have I found their style of play entertaining for the most part through the years but my right hand man supports them.

Hes gutted and tells me they are dead.

The owners have sold them down the river with broken promises and locked them into a long term lease in a stadium the fans hate. With a shambles signing policy on top of that.

And have announced they , the board and club, arent going anywhere.

Im honestly expecting their fans to mass pitch invade in protest before the end of the season,,and get the game abandoned. They will probably go down anyway,,whats another few points.

Should the fans boycott a game in the EPL or whatever its called,,I suspect the broadcasters would pipe cheering in through the PA system and tell the camera men no crowd shots pitch scenes only.

The only challenge to that could be the fans outside chanting soo loudly it would be noticable.

Or the broadcasters would blank it and not show that teams games live on tv at all whilst the issue is ongoing.

Unfortunately should the hammers fans boycott then,,

1,,theres no real point as even if they do get rid of the board they are still left with a stadium lease they dont want

2,,it will probably be in the championship and will receive less exposure.

3,,the club dont actually need their money and could well tell the malcontents goodbye.

The mate also tells me thats its the cheapest prem ticket in London so tourists are snapping up season tickets not with the aim of supporting the hammers but using that seat as their own vantage point into the EPL. Thats all well and good should you just wish to be entertained but what happens when your team should you have one comes around?

Also if your tourist seats has came at the expense of a genuine hammers fan then thats not right at all.

I used to be caught up in the hype machine whilst living at home,,

took me to move away from the hype and look in from afar with little interest so see its all bull.

They scream rooney or aguero all week,,show you the few goals there have been over the last few encounters,,and make you feel an unmissable event is about to be aired.

Then its propbably a nil nil borefest. It was more about meeting the mates in the end rather than the game itself.

And lets face it,,we could all probably name the 5 or 6 teams who will share the spoils over the next 5 or 6 years so wheres the entertainment?

Its funny typing this on a footie blog but when I do desire genuine sport these days football is not, well very rarely, my choice to be entertained.

The yank sports , rugby, the GAA all much much better from a sporting point of view. Imo.

And no songs of hate etc.

I happened to mention on the blog I stopped watching the first team as Im about to have a wee one and dont want her getting into it also as its rotten.

Plus I myself had become very disillusioned with Scottish football and its bent ways.

When youre sitting in the states with all these options for the kids of not only viewing a better sporting spectacle but could easily be actively taking part in many many activities such as little league etc that no one gives a toss who or what you are and just want the kids to be happy never mind think heres the taigs then could anyone honestly say that Im wrong in my stance?

Didnt think so. Should anyone reading this disagree with that please let me know and try to convince me otherwise,, I long to be convinced otherwise actually.

Although if I was back there and within travelling distance to the games again this choice would not be so straight forward.

Scottish football doesnt need me,,wont be getting me anymore,,or any of mine. Actually doesnt want me either and wishes me to “go home”.

If it had even tried to confront the corruption I might well be discussing whos gonna start this weekend with you instead of probably watch the padres in Americas favourite pastime.

I will never insult anyone who chooses a different path than mine,,indeed I would gladly fight on behalf of that choice being available.

Hope youre well,,I like your posts.

    Hail Hail

    DD,

No doubt, but when those contracts were signed, they were considered a legit way of paying players.

I imagine many clubs in England were doing the same thing.

Vialli insisting in being paid Netto, e.g.

It took the Supreme Court last year to finally nail the tax question.

It was the way Murray operated the scheme, that apparently caused their problem, according to the adult cinematic inclined lawyer.

As an individual, I reckon most people, certainly those without a CA as a relative, would have taken the enhanced pay packet, with an added indemnity from his employer.

    What could go wrong?

I maintain that the tax question is not our main grip.

It was the dual contracts, one of which was not submitted to the SFA that remains the bone of contention.

That is where the damage was done.

RFC obviously knew that they were at it, as, why else withhold the Full Monty, but the players were reassured that everything was Hunky Dory.

The EBTs are a Red Mullet. a distraction from the crimes of the SFA.

Paying the players wasn’t against SFA rules. Not disclosing was.

    =========

There is a trap here for the unwary.

The fact is LNS found RFC guilty of taking a deliberate decision not to disclose side letters and the sanction was £250k eventually recovered.

However (all will be glad to hear) there is a difference between taking a deliberate decision not to disclose something when not specifically asked to do so and lieing about the existence of side letters when you are asked if they existed.

As mentioned this is what happened in the wtc, details of which could not have been disclosed to LNS.

If you are not asked a question you can hardly be accused of lieing/cheating in response. But if you are and you lie, then it’s a lie.

In his Decision, because wtc details not disclosed (and how that came about has to be part of the Comp Off investigation as in who knew and when), LNS was abe to say “there is no question of dishonesty individual or corporate”

Once Comp Off has completed his work we will be able to ask who benefitted from that non disclosure in 2011 AND in 2012 and who were involved in it. (and I’m not excluding LNS but he should be given opportunity to clear himself.)

The universe is unravelling as it should.

Tony and Archie moved to England. I met TG in Blackpool as a kid. Still got a photo of him and I.

Loved Archie as a player for Derby, Forest and Scotland. Great wee Scabby necked player :)

Can anyone clear up for me who actually owns Scott Bain’s registration at. the moment?

Bit concerned that if it is Dundee, we will have Dorus back in goal on Wednesday.

If Hibs own him, hopefully Craig Gordon will be available by the time we meet them.

    Also, is he cup-tied?

Shortbread desperate with the anti Celtic agenda, dredging up the referees strike from 2010, i think they will skip over the Dougie Dougie, the lies of Dallas, and the victimisation of the linesman at Tannadice that day.

  13. good evening ghuys, just had the most embarrassing moment of my life this afternoon, two guys came into our salon with 2 yorkshire terriers, had thick glasgow accents, were you from i said, the older guy said im paul quinn im from elderslie, this is john rooney he is from scotstoun. im from glenboig i said, you know near the big tim town of coatbridge. look i just presumed because of the names they were tims. they laughed and rolled up their sleeves, king billy tattoos on each arm, how feckin embarrassing is that, to be honest they seen the funny side of it and even gave a tip.

  14. Mahe the Madman on

    Big packy,,

If that’s the most embarrassing moment you’ve done well , very well indeed! At least they did see the funny side.

I certainly didn’t went I got dragged out of a fine Irish bar to see the historic liberty Bell ( never heard of the stupid thing but it wasn’t far away at the time) only to discover we had actually paid good money to see something that was not working and I want my money back. And why did she drag me here?

Who keeps a broken bell? Lazy bassas,,fix the effing thing or smelt it and make a new one no?

Anyway after asking the room did they know the bell was broke and if so why are they there security and the wife forced me outside to calm me down. I actually still don’t understand it. Didn’t get my money back either.

I believe the evening ended very late in that same fine Irish bar with me explaining to the missus that the next time we pay to see something that’s broken then we will be broken.

Hope you’re well,,,ps you never mention my Hamish and he’s feeling left out. ;) Draggin the wife around the dog park as I type.
