JANKO’S TARGET

SAIDY JANKO, who cost £1million from Manchester United a year ago, is making up for lost time.
Celtic’s Swiss Under-21 international right-back started only eight games under Ronny Deila and missed the last five months of the campaign through injury.
However, he has already impressed his successor Brendan Rodgers during the pre-season tour.
Janko was grateful to get 74 minutes on the pitch during Wednesday’s 2-1 win over Slovenian title holders Olimpija Ljubliana._84006577_10940567
The powerhouse defender said: “It was quite hard, but it was good to get some game-time, longer than 45 minutes.
“I think it was good for everyone. Training has been very intense and a lot different from last year.
“It’s been a lot harder, but, at the end of the day, we’ll get our fitness back quicker.
“We’ll be ready for the start of the Champions League on Tuesday and, of course, the season ahead.
“On a personal level, I’m feeling fit. It was good to play so many minutes in midweek and Olimpija have been the best team we’ve played so far.
“I think we did well although they did press us. They were a good side, but we were better.
“We managed to follow the game-plan set down by the manager.
“He has told us to shoot and get our shots on target, so I think it went alright.”
