Japan talent seam

474

I saw “Japan first country to qualify for 2026 Word Cup” and quickly clicked on the line-up for their win against Bahrain.  Neither Daizen Maeda nor Reo Hatate made it off the bench.

Japan top their group with 19 points, Australia are second, nine points adrift.  Reo and Daizen did not get into the team because Japan have an ever-expanding talent pool of excellent players to choose from.

Celtic used links to City Football Group to align with the Japanese market in 2021.  Ange Postecoglou, Koygo, Daizen and Reo came and transformed the club.  The years since would be unrecognisable without this influence from Japan.  Despite this, Japan is no longer on our radar; Korea has also slipped from our scope.

We had First Mover Advantage in 2021.  The value available may not be exactly the same as then, but it feels like we have walked away from the richest seam of talent we have seen pull on Celtic shirts in decades.

  1. Private talks ahead of Scottish Premiership win celebration in Glasgow

Private talks between Celtic and Rangers, and community leaders have been taking place before the end of the football season after previous ‘disruption and disorder’ in the city centre.

Glasgow City Council and Police Scotland have also been involved in the discussions before the Scottish Premiership title win in a bid to avoid “the kind of disorder, vandalism and violence that has been a persistent feature of gatherings at Trongate and George Square at the conclusion of recent football seasons”.

    —————–

Quite incredible what occured for Maleys 3rd great team, tragedies laced with only some triumphs, a high point being the winning of the BRITISH EMMPIRE EXHIBITION TROPHY IN 38,

  5. The book/Maley and Hanley all commenting the irony of the Celtic club established by Irishmen descended from the famine victims, winning THE BRITISH EMPIRE trophy.

  6. Now the random .

Celtic won the trophy on 1938-06-10: Celtic 1-0 Everton, Empire Exhibition Cup Final – Pictures

Our manager Mr Maley having played in our very first game, and having server 50 years as a Celt.

Johnny Crum scoring the winning goal.

and that morning JOE MCBRIDE had been born on the Govan Road literally a few goal kicks away.

and the day I was born, Celtic were at Hamilton winning 7-0 with JOE MCGOALS scoring a hat-trick.

Aipple- I think as we got soaked a couple of times yesterday, it coloured my judgement a wee bit,it’s absolutely mobbed here

  12. lets all do the huddle on

the disruption argument is a load of shite.

as are the next day photos showing the streets covered in rubbish.

orange walks and new year celebrations also cause those things yet you never hear the same complaints.

i have been to a few of them though in the trongate in the last few years and there is some stuff that is pish – coked up we fannies trying to wreck traffic lights and bus stops for example. but if you put that many people into the same place in many other circumstances you will get the same number of muppets.

and to be fair to the cops in the last few years – they clearly mark out where you can and cant go around that area with a carry out which is fair enough considering it is illegal!

however after what the cops did last sunday i wouldnt be too sure in that being the same this year.

I hear you, parents sent some videos of the storms last two days. Not fun.

to be fair its only a friendly.

so henrik, zlatan, brolin and dahlin have all been left out the squad!

  16. as an aside.

i am using the Hampden mobile ticket portal for the first time today.

Literally took me 3 minutes to enter all the relevant details, and Digital ticket will be delivered to my mobile phone.

NO BOOKING FEE & NO DELIVERY CHARGE

Celtic plc need to modernise and get us online digital ticketing and the ability to digitally allocate your “season card” to be used by someone else.

The much maligned Starfelt started for Sweden

SWEDEN QUICKNEWS have lablled him as a celtic reject and an escaped goat for the Luxembourg goal.

SS- The bombscare word gets thrown about too easily, I’m sure big Virgil probably got it after the Astana game,CS was a very solid player for us

  19. my suspicious mind, but, is the rangers ladies team now getting a lot of tv time, and reporting on news items now that they are winning things, and there is a takover being muted.

how long till sevco add their titles to the mens to nudge them back in front on the myth trohpy count ?

  20. “The Old Firm is alive and kicking, I hope our Board are proud of themselves”

Eh, how many £49-£52-£54-£56-etc old firm tickets did the board buy?

Rangers have wun! You could count a busload at most out of the entire country who don’t call Sevco – Rangers.

Just look at who bought all of the tickets priced above and then called Rangers – “Sevco” – after paying Rangers prices for tickets.

I canny remember, and if I’m wrong I put my hands up – but – were Gretna FC a new club? And if so – how much were their tickets? £49? Hmmmm.

Almost every Celtic blog calls them Rangers until the day we play them then everybody is talking about Sevco. lol

The propaganda war has been won by Rangers. And it was won in December 2016 when 7,000 Celtic season ticket holders paid £49 to watch Rangers vs Celtic at Ibrox and then pathetically sung “Your not Rangers Anymore” after paying £49 for tickets which Celtic PLC agreed with the pricing! And brought Brendan1 in to deflect Timmy attention away from “Same Club Lie” arguments – and the Old Firm boards and Brendan1 [ the plant? ] wrapped it roon yeez awe!

“Oh but the trolls” – Trolls didny stiff yeez Desmond, Lawwell, Brendan1, etc stiffed yeez.

PS, Why all of a sudden after 140 odd years did we want to celebrate League Title wins in the middle of Glasgow?

Cause Rangers did it and made an absolute erse of themselves – Timmy dizny want left oot, so they want to make an erse of themselves with less violence – but – much more scummy looking piles of mess littered all over Glasgow streets – from Celtic fans?

    Naw!

From the Green cheek of the Old Firm erse?

    Eye!

If we were led by leaders or proud supporters groups – we wouldn’t want Celtic’s name coupled with the “Who left the maist Trash on the Streets Trophy!”

If Timmy’s vote for Degenerate Political Sleekit Trash and are unconscious of that Trash – then you too are Trash!

Don’t shoot the messenger who’s been telling yeez for 10 years to “Empty The Park” and rid Celtic of its real PLC Trash – 20 Double Decker PLC Buses stuffed with Ungettable Tickets For ALL Cup Finals type of Trash!

A Celtic support led by Leaders not by Sleekit Complicit Suckulents will be on the way back to being the best fans in the World again. We were once – before All seating and the snobbery which has come with it. Snobbery generates cliques. Cliques are anti everything that Celtic is supposed to stand for.

    Ach well.

  21. Prestonpans bhoys on

I take it they have to involve the huns in the winning of the league celebrations is because it’s still technically possible for them to win it.

How they can hold a conversation with them on this subject without laughing is a major challenge 🙃

  22. With the passing George Foreman all four of the fighters who dominated the first half of the 1970s are gone, Foreman himself, Ali, Ken Norton and Joe Frazier. Ali of course had first became Champ in mobbed up Miami in Feb. 1964, when he was still close to Malcolm X. And kept his title on May 25 1965. That fight was supposed to take place in Boston, later in 1964, but again Beantown was too mobbed up for the fight to be sanctioned. It actually took place in an Ice Rink, in Lewiston Maine, a town I know well, which is bit like holding it in Ayr or Falkirk, both of which had ice rinks at the time. Still not buying that phantom punch theory, but after that the only guy capable of beating Ali was Uncle Sam. There was a connection between Liston and Foreman, that being Dick Sadler, trainer and or manager to both, dont know if he was mobbed up, might well have been. Of course Ali, 1960, Frazier in 1964 and Foreman in 1968 were all Olympic Champions, the latter no Tommy Smith or Jean Carlos in Mexico in Mexico 1968. Ken Norton joined the Marines around the same time, another great athlete. Norton – Frazier fight never happened. Norton beat Ali in 1973, lost to him in a second fight and lost again in NYC in 1976 to a controversial decision in a title fight, in my opinion Norton won that fight, though he did win a title later before losing to the the great Larry Holmes. Ali fought on too long and suffered for it and Foreman became Champ in 1994, thirty years after Ali beat Liston. Dont know If Ali ever wore the kilt but Sonny did in Glasgow in 1965, but Ali met the Celtic team two years later, so we’ll call that a draw.

Okay Larry Holmes is still around, again one of the greats, but even so with Big George passing there is a sense on the ending of an era…..

  23. Just asked a question how many leagues have second won I said 54 came up on internet 55 thought they were going for 55 this year

Good find! Dont think I’ve ever seen either of those pics. There is a great one of Sonny in full regalia, in a Glasgow street near Central Station during his 1963 visit. Now that I think about it both Sonny and Ali ‘fought’ at Paisley Ice Rink, so maybe I should have thrown that in with Ayr and Falkirk. Oh, and Ali being welcomed by a Pipe Band as he arrived at the airport on that 1965 visit to Glasgow.
