Jar to the senses

568

It was such a jar to the senses.  Twice a striker was clean through on the keeper inside the box.  For 12 months, this only led to one outcome.  Last night we saw Joe Hart make two saves we have not seen since his former England squad team mate was in goal.

Playing out from the back, as we do, takes nerves and practice.  The key players are the goalkeeper, the central defenders and the two deepest central mids.  The latter two need to be comfortable controlling a pass facing their own goal with an opponent on their shoulder.  Callum McGregor and David Tunbull have this.

You can expect a few bumps on the road; McGregor’s nightmare back pass being an example, but we will improve as the season progresses.  Developing this attribute will inevitably cost goals, but you see the speed and effectiveness of the transition into attack.  Gone are the days of circulating the ball endlessly in a horseshoe pattern, or worse, the long ball.

I also liked our new player, Tom Rogic – another who has the ability to bring the ball under instant control with an opponent (or two, as it often was last night) breathing down on him.  Kenny Dalglish would use his body to keep an opponent from getting a toe on the ball, Tom brought it all back last night.  For me, this is an unexpected sunset performance.  Tom is a throwback, without an engine for the modern game, so these treats will remain a cameo.

How are you feeling about the direction of travel?

Last night’s starting 11 had three new signings, eight players who were here last season, seven of whom are Scottish.  Three signings and, of course, a manager we traveled the world to bring to Glasgow!  There are certainly no guarantees against AZ, but the recovery has been swift and impressive.  You are not going to hear this from too many sources, but the fundamentals at the club remain very good; watch how we grow.

“Has anybody else in the Superbru competition received an email from a nymphomaniac called Kayla ? 😛”

    —————————–

I seem to have been left out of this very generous bonus offer of sexual services. However, I understand that those affected have received a communication from Superbru which explains some of the circumstances. I have been forwarded a copy of this letter, which says:-

    “Hi there,

We’d like to apologise for a spam email you may have seen that was sent via Superbru’s BruMail system in the last few hours. We want to explain what happened, advise you on the impact, update you on how we’ll prevent this in future and, of course, say sorry.

Firstly, delete the emailPlease delete the email from your inbox.

Secondly, they didn’t get your email addressWhilst you received an email to notify you of the BruMail, your email address was not shared with the spammers.

What happenedOvernight, spammers created new Superbru accounts and then used the BruMail features on our website to send the spam message out to random Superbru users. As such they didn’t penetrate our security or gain access to our data, but rather exploited existing features that are used for legitimate user-to-user messaging on Superbru.

The impactThe spammers’ objective was to send spam emails. By design, BruMail does not expose either the sender or receiver’s email address or other personal data to either party. The impact of this incident is therefore that you’ve been sent a spam email, but no more.

How we’ll prevent this in futureWe have a clear understanding of what the spammers did and will add additional protections and validations to the BruMail system to prevent this from working in the future.

ApologiesWe’re so sorry about this. We pride ourselves on taking care of our users and seeing a spam message like this go out is really upsetting. This is the first incident of this nature in more than 15 years of operating our platform.

BruMail has temporarily been disabled and service will be restored with additional protections in place within the next few days.

Apologies again and thanks for bearing with us.”

I am writing to complain of being left out

I am not intelligent enough on the it front to know how big an oversight it was.

I will be impressed, however, if their claims about “no damage done” etc; prove to be true. They are a small site and it is thier first breach in 15 years. I am sure the bigger cyber criminal sites are concentrating on crypto currency and financial transaction sites, as they offer more valuable info.

Superbru has nobody’s financial details, apart from mine, as I had to pay a fee to register this pool.

  4. Good chance Raith…only watching this to get an idea of where Aberdung are…it’s a poor game

  5. T…didn’t realise u had to pay a fee, ty…good luck wae having yer bank account cleaned out ;-))

  6. JackieMac: From last night.

Yeah, I’m ok, thanks for asking. Watched the match with my Mayo neighbour. Couldn’t believe the second half collapse but fair play to Mayo – they stuck to their task and were deserved winners on the night.

I think the final will be won by Kerry.
