Jaroslaw Fojut on Celtic, Lennon and possibly moving this month

1057

Jaroslaw Fojut spoke to a Polish newspaper yesterday on his decision to join Celtic. Our man in Poland kindly transcribed:

When asked if he would like to move to Celtic this month, Jaroslaw said, “If I move to Celtic this winter a convenient outcome for all sides would need to happen.  If I need to stay in Wroclaw until the end of the season it will not be a tragedy.  My decision to sign for Celtic is not going to change my dedication to Slask.

“Whatever the outcome, I will not be aggrieved.

“The people at Slask offered me a good contract.  Before I signed for Celtic I met Slask chairman, Piotr Wasniewski and explained my situation.  I wanted to play fair with the club who were always fair with me.

“Money was not the main reason I decided to go to Scotland.  I do not have to justify myself by telling you what kind of club Celtic is and the real reasons behind my decision.

“My agent told me about signals from other club but there were no concrete offers.  Celtic were determined to sign me and when their offer came in I did not look for other options.

“I expect competition for a place in the Celtic team to be high but when I get a chance to play I will make good use of that privilege.  I have not spoken to Neil Lennon yet but I am aware of what he has said about me and look forward to meeting him.

“I remember playing against him when he was with Nottingham.  I think we played twice in the cup and once in the league but could not be sure.

“I planned to call Lukasz Zaluska and ask what it was like at Celtic but what if he told me things were bad there?”  Which Jaroslaw laughed at.

“Lukasz and I will have lots to talk about, we are both Legia supporters.

“I’m not going to argue about whether the Scottish or Polish league is better, everyone is entitled to their opinion on this.  I’m pretty sure we have no club in Poland who can compare to Celtic, whatever aspect you analyse, economic issues, organisation, supporters, stadium or anything.

“Let’s not forget Celtic play in Europe every year and battle for the biggest prizes.

“In a way going to Celtic is a dream come true but my dreams will have to change.  I will not going the Bhoys and feel happy, my ambitions will have to move on.  I am sure Lionel Messi still has something to win and achieve.  He has never been the champion of the world and that is why he must improve.  I’m pretty sure I will not be short of incentives.

“Celtic is a very big deal for me but you do not climb the mountain and say, OK, I’m done.

“My acclimatisation is going to me easier in many aspects.  I know the British game, I know what the coaches expectations are.  During my years in England I learned the language so I’ll not have problems with communication.”

My gut reaction is that, in a secret ballot, they would vote to keep the Huns in the SPL. Otherwise, they would have to consider if the financial loss in ST`s by deserting Celtic fans would be greater. Either way, I believe their decision would be determined by pounds rather than passion.

The board are obliged to do what’s in the best interests of the shareholders.

That means it comes down to ££££££.

    And only ££££££.

How do you think they would vote?

    ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

I think the board will comply with a media campaign driven along the lines of, “Rangers saved Celtic from being thrown out of Scottish football when, the flag issue of 1953 loomed large over the Parkhead clubs future !”

The smoke and mirrors merchant’s of the board/CEO/DD will drive home the message of, “how important it is for the future of the game that, Rankers/newco should remain in the SPL!”

Last night, like many others, I commented on the James Forrest post of 14.59. I’m tempted to say that its the finest piece I’ve read during my 3 years or so on CQN. The reason I dont is because I feel I would be doing some disservice to many other brilliant posts. I’d like to know how many regular posters we have (Paul ?) perhaps a hardcore of maybe 100 writers? Leading the way are guys like Auldheid, Awe Naw, BRTH and Forrest. Sorry if I’ve missed some of the others who have produced excellent pieces.

The old media have finally met their nemesis and the end is near for them. Thats the most heartening aspect I get from reading posts like James Forrest’s yesterday.

  9. Cannot wait to see Forjut. Personally I only think he will come this month if we are able to offload one of our current CHs, most probably Loovens to a Championship Club for a nominal fee; this would be used to secure Forjut.

I don’t have shares in Celtic [yet], but if I did buy them it wouldn’t be because I seriously thought I would get any return on my investment.

Buying a share in Celtic is a completely different transaction from buying a share in BP or Glaxo.

  15. If/when it comes to voting on NewCo FC’s parachuting straight into the SPL, the Celtic Board will vote on one thing, and one thing only. Money.

They will weigh up potential drop in TV revenue, sponsorship, reduced crowds (which would be minimal, at least to begin with) against the potential increase in revenue from winning the league/cups (prize money and merchandising), champions league participation and further reductions in wage bill.

They will pay lip service to Integrity, Fairness, and Supporter’s opinions, but whatever generates biggest profits wins.

  16. Can the SFA or SPL take action against clubs who don’t pay the agreed transfer fee to another member club on time?

Can Lee Wallace be recalled to the ‘Creditor’ Club if Rangers go in to administration and cannot pay for Wallace in full?

Most of all though has Keith Jackson really written that Rangers are ‘cash strapped’ and ‘crisis stricken’?

More than the Lee Wallace affair I think this story reveals something about the mindset of the press. I think they now realise if they didn’t before that the flush is busted and the writing is on the wall.

It’s funny that you should say that. It seems that the majority on the blog are in agreement over the fate of rangers. You seem to be one of the few dissenters with your constant posts about “Scotland is the Huns, the huns is Scotland” and your denial about what fate awaits them. You wouldn’t be one of the smoke and mirror merchants would you?

I feel pretty sure that the board wouldn’t be foolish enough to vote a newco back in, they must have an idea of the depth of feeling amongst the support.

I also think they made a statement in late October, in light of an article by Phil, stating quite catagorically that they would do no such thing.
