Jenz parallels with Jota

279

At 23, German central defender Moritz Jenz emerged from the Fulham youth setup two years ago.  A season in Switzerland with Lausanne, then one in France with Lorient, 45 games in total, is apparently enough to convince Celtic to move for the player.

Interestingly, before leaving London, he was in the same Fulham youth team as Matt O’Riley.  It seems likely that much of our scouting of the player took place before he left England.

Last season was a start-stop period for Moritz.  He kept his place in the team until injury kept him out for six weeks until December.  Thereafter he was as often on the bench as the starting line-up, as Lorient struggled to avoid relegation.

The parallels with Jota are also interesting.  Moritz is one month younger than the Portuguese, who also drifted between starting line-up and bench before arriving at Celtic, as his previous club struggled near the bottom of the league.

When we beat Barca, Milan etc we defended deep, rode our luck and hit on the break with 20% possession.

We are more exposed as long as Ange keep playing the press – horses for courses isn’t for Ange, therefore he needs to find players to break up play – Mcregror is a defensive trier , but its just not his skill.

Mooy maybe, Welsh in midfield maybe, – we see what Ange does with current squad and/or new faces

Danes and Cypriots, who were possible opponents for the Orcs, finish 1-1. Of the little I watched, neither was impressive.

Shocked and stunned! Are we in with a shout of winning the close season trophy?

Is that why this purveyor of very poor toilet paper withdrew the story?

7 times GVB phoned, 7 times!

Be afraid. GVB must be saving up all of the money from the sale of their galacticos for a major punt on someone. No laughing at the back now. No laughing at the back now 🤣

  7. Watched the first half of their game.Slow build up,no flair,as usual strong tackling but workmanlike. No shots at all on the Hammers goal.Mc Laughlin, couple of saves.Full H un team, but no Morelos.

    Weak bench for them.

20% possession in our greatest victories against Barca and AC Milan?

Barca maybe but not against AC

  9. Artur Boruc.

Loved the big man. Best keeper in Europe, at one point.

    My favourite Boruc moments:

    3) Scoring penalty against Dundee United. What a cool clinical finish.

    2) Saving penalty against Manchester United.

    1) Saving penalty against Spartak Moscow. His hand waving and wee dance were pure magic.

    Artur Boruc, a true legend.

I hope that relations between Celtic and Legia improve. We should have made the offer to let them progress, when they beat us well and truly.

Matondo with goal 3 for Orcs. This against a team that demolished us 6-2 last pre-season. Maybe the Undead team are not as geriatric as some suggest?

Good evening all from Paddy Neesons. It’s far too hot for me to go home, I may have to stay til closing to see if the temperature drops. Or I get thrown out.

  16. Just watched about ten minutes of the Sevco V West Ham game. I know it is a Friendly but it is a Friendly for both sides and Sevco are making the Hammers look second rate. They ( Sevco) are moving the ball about superbly well and look very accomplished.

0-0 at Windsor Park after 72 minutes. Bodo bring on first line strikers Boniface and Pellegrino.

Artur was a Celtic icon,a world class keeper who has to many fingertip saves,or as he spread himself to stop a goal.

To me tho the penalty saves vs Spartak Moscow in the shoot out.also the save against Saha(man united that put us thro.)

A lot of his saves were in the ‘did he just do that’ category.

Artur also shone a light in inculcated anti Catholic bigotry that came from our establishment,in the sfa and in our media implying/attempting narrativesforcing the issue that making “the sign of the cross,” blessing himself was offensive! The seething hatred of Artur caused our own bishops to speak out in defence of his human right to express his faith.

    Hail Hail

  21. Watched another 10 minutes of Sevco game. Maybe I was being too generous in my praise for them. This game really is being played as a Friendly so any assessment is likely to be pointless.
