Jeopardy of international travel

252

While we are all feeling confident ahead of the title run-in, things can change quickly, especially with a monitored infectious disease spreading through society.  In little over a week we go to Ibrox, where our hosts are already fretting over the absence of a player who tested positive after flying to Zambia on international duty.

Travel through international airports, on connecting coaches and flights, brings a jeopardy until domestic travel.  With so many players away on international duty and set to return in the days before going to Ibrox, we face a lottery.  There is nothing Celtic can do about this and little the players can do.  It will be a tense few days when they arrive back at Lennoxtown.

First time reading a few posts since the weekend.

Auditions to be the next Big Jimmy:

IniquitousIV No, not enough enthusiasm for the blog

BluegrassCelt No, obsessed with Scotland for reasons beyond our ken

Edward Nygma No, can’t tell a joke (and is a permanent disgrace with all his other monikers)

Gene No, goes to bed too early in an evening

Bring back Big Jimmy, says the Panel

  2. Ramsey is a top player and can greatly influence games – the only question to then ask is…will he? We will find out in the next two months.

Top class from you, as expected. You’ve provided a speedy retort to posts for all the years I’ve been reading the blog.

Consider yourself warming up, hoping for an injury to the jokers Steve Clarke has sent onto the pitch.

    I’m a Big Jimmy fan. Didn’t realize I was auditioning!😊

  5. Sweden win. Could see Ibra vs Lewandiwski.

A wee break, then back for the South American fiesta, and then the Mexico – U.S. dogfight.

Steady there mate. The thing about a secret ingredient is it should stay secret.

I applaud you for enjoying the games you’ve watched today. It’s given the blog a current to follow, away from the repetitive stagnant themes.

38,000 at Hamdump supporting a good cause? For once I’m happy watching on. Scotland played well. Glad I stuck with it.

Couldn’t give a flying fook watching who we MIGHT meet in the next round. Just interested in how our team performs.

You seem to have a bee on your bonnet on this, its freedom of choice and you pick and choose what you prefer. You prefer the Scotland friendly then good on you.

As a matter of note, most friendly games are free on our ST’s at CP and in the past two decades think I’ve went to one or two, primarily for the drink and not the game🍻🍺⚽

Not at all. Why do yo think that? Just didn’t get the Wales v Austria love in and suggested that the Scotland friendly was equally worthy of note.

    Bluegrass,

That’s fine, at least you are debating football on the blog 👍👍, unlike others.

Notable paragraph from Guyfawkes @10:22 above is this one:

  11. Kinda unsure what result I wanted in ramsays game tonight. No matter I think if he is picked for them on the 3rd it will cause disruption to their regular line up and playing style.

  12. BLUEGRASS CELT.

I bet Steve Clarke has the game taped. Check out Bale’s 2 goals. If we end up meeting them, we’ll need some plan to stop this guy. He is world class. You can’t go in to face your opposition blind.

Personally, where I’m located, I couldn’t get the Scotland game, so thought I would take a peek at our possible opponents. Glad I did – it was a great game.

Tough choice between Uruguay -Peru and Ecuador – Paraguay in 30 minutes.

Tuned in to the Scotland game cause of the strong opposition originally. Not so much a friendly and more of a test against likely opponents. Just didn’t get the Wales narrative on here when Scotland were on too. Like I said, it doesn’t matter who we get if we beat Ukraine, and even that’s up in the air. If the game does go ahead, I’d be more concerned about that one that Wales or Austria. Playing Poland at home was a reasonable test and more worthy of my attention, all be it a friendly

  14. Opted for Uruguay – Peru, as both are in competition for direct qualification. ( 4th and 5th at present ). Thousands of Peruvians in Montevideo for the game. Light rain falling. Suarez starting.

Cameraman not panning the players during the anthems, but Godin lead the team out. Don’t see Cavani, but Betancur and Nunes start.

  15. Game fast and furious. Most players and staff on benches wearing masks, as are many in the crowd.

Peru just miss with diving header. Commentary well ahead of video.

Off to my cot, 29 comments on this page so far, all on football, well done

    👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

  17. Bluegrass I wouldn’t open the blind if Scotland were playing in my garden but then I have no interest in International football other than watching the later stages of Tournaments.

That being said 2 of the best games of football I have ever watched involved Brazil and Italy in Mexico then Spain.

  18. One Peruvian player with Callum McGregor type mask, except it’s black. Looks like the Lone Ranger ( which is probably why Callum’s is not black.🤣 )

  19. Football Insider saying Leeds will sell Raphina for £60M to Liverpool, or Man City, then buy Kent for £20M. Funny how rumours about Hun players start when they are in a financial pickle.
