Great to see so many names from years ago back on the blog yesterday. As well as the jetsam and flotsam of life at Celtic, there have been times when the blog has had real value to the few, and occasionally, to the many. Once or twice, we’ve made a real difference to our club.
Our ability to add value correlates directly with the great contributions which appear here; sometimes when people offer remarkable insight, sometimes when many aggregate their thoughts to analyse an issue.
My guess is that there will be moments in the next decade when that insight and aggregation will be needed, so thanks to everyone who keeps the place sane through the flotsam days, before the biggies emerge. Thanks also for yesterday’s enormous support. The untold stories of acts of kindness and generosity from the community over the decade are so numerous they are no longer exceptional. It’s a great place to be a part of.
There are changes ahead. A new blog design is on the way and the Quick News section will retire this summer. Canajunbhoy has exclusively posted the section in the wee small hours for the best part of the decade, so he more than deserves peace to hang up his keyboard. My sincere thanks for all his help.
CQteN was an enormous success and built three school kitchens in Malawi for Mary’s Meals (photos from the last two are on the way). It was also enormous fun. We’re going to do it again, although I’m not sure yet if it has the legs to be an annual event/bi-annual or other. Open to ideas.

A wee story about Paul. Those who were at CQTEN may recall that he was presented with a wee gift.
It was a bit of a personal joke to be honest. Paul is very much a PC / Windows man while myself and BRTH prefer Apple.
We got him a wee iPad – as a toy that he could play with and enjoy CQN away from his PC. That’s what we thought.
BRTH and myself were over at Paul’s office last week. He brought his iPad into the meeting and as usual we pulled his leg about the vast superiority these machines had over those crappy PCs he uses.
How’s the toy I asked?
He proceeded to show us what he’s been doing with the “toy” – wired up to his phone system it is now his phone always on local rates, Internet where he goes, a notebook linked to his main computer and a funny wee pen that meant he could write everything without the need for typing. All linked up.
BRTH was speechless and that is not something that happens every day!
So when Paul is away he will have his iPad toy and will be routing into his office so he can read and post on CQN.
When he’s back he’s going to show us how to do it!
Now imagine what he could do with a decent computer?

That is too much for us old fogies, and I use an ipad, unfortunately only for CQN and twitter. Honestly. :-)

Condolences on your sad loss. Just back from holiday yesterday and catching up with the blog.
I’m sure she is in a good place now.

She sure is, and at peace. The past few months were difficult, but she had a heart of a lion. As TBJ often said, clyde built, ye cannie beat it. That’s what being brought up in Govan does for you. Thanks for that lovely post.

Prayed for you in church tonight that you will have all the strength and courage for the day ahead tomorrow. I will pray for your mother’s soul and for you and all your loved ones at Mass tomorrow morning.
You have been an inspiration to us all these last days. God bless.

Thoughts with you and your family tomorrow,
Hibs game getting pumped 2-0, the invasion from jungle resulted in the fence being put up in front of the jungle.

going to Mass tomorrow -will say a prayer for your mammy
weefra,
Your Mum, and full family, will be in our thoughts and prayers tomorrow
Just remember all she taught you, and you will all get through.
WeeFra,
I hope tomorrow goes well and is a celebration of your wee Ma’s life.
Weefrathe Tim,
I will remember your mammy with a prayer at Mass tomorrow. May she rest in peace.
Auldheid,
This is not directed against you, but, can you explain how do Celtic pick the fans it wants to talk too ?
Maybe an idea for CQN, a question and answer session on such items with the fans on here.
I get plenty of emails from Celtic, to buy stuff, only ever remember 1 survey, with absolutely no response after completing
I should I am glad they are talking to some fans, are they listening though ?
Hail Hail

dont back out now. We couldn`t get the mic off you at the Thai Karaoke :-)
BTW you missed a cracking weekend but a divorce would have been in the offing. It was maybe a good thing. Both those sofas were occupied by amorous red wine filled Thai girls asking where you were. I had a lot of talking to do about mixing up dates etc. They were not buying it. Anyway I will say no more

Weefra, I can’t think of the right words to say but I’m sure your mum will get a fitting farewell from you and your family tomorrow.
May your mum rest in peace with your dad. I still smile when I think of your post the other night of them meeting up again.
Awe_NAw, Aye right mair like:-)
Fill me with beer and I’ll sing!

So far I’ve watched Celtic in three games against Rapid Vienna, Reykavic and on Saturday against Dresden and have been impressed by the team and the job Ronny seems to be doing – unbeaten now in six matches i think – not a bad record.
Creating plenty of chances but unfortunately a poor scoring return.
Regarding Anthony Stokes, some on here think he’s for the off because he faied to embrace Ronny in a bear-hug when he left the field after being subbed in a recent game – not really Stokesy’s style I would say. We lost a thirty goal plus striker last season, I don’t think we can afford to lose another twenty plus goalador. Still only tweny-four years of age Stokesy in my opinion is a far better footballer than either Leigh Griffiths or Pukki. John Collins and Neil McCann acting as pundits for Sky rate Stokes highly. Collins now Ronny’s assistant I would be surprised if Stokes was moving on.

Wholeheartedly agree Anto is one of themost skilled footballers in the team. For some unknown reason he is much maligned by many on here. I also think he is a far bigger talent than ‘LG’ or Tony Watt (both somewhat ugely over rated and over hyped players, again imo)
Anyway Anto is asusposedly injured and will miss the game tomorrow. Lets hope we don’t need someone to do a mazey though a packed defence in the last minute to set up the vital winning goal.

You talked so lovingly about your mum that I got a great perspective on her character without ever knowing her. Funeral services can be so comforting when the person has had a full life. Tomorrow will be the same and you will forever have the memories.
You will be in my thoughts.
Got a full car load for Murrayfield so I am doing my bit to get the crowd up.
I will let you know how it went.
God bless.

Will be thinking of you tomorrow.
My late dad would have turned 90 today if he had lived for another 9 months!
Thinking of him today, as I do every day.
I know you will give yer mammy a fitting send-off.
Auldheid,
Let’s hope Celtic finally enhance the ‘food’ being sold at Celtic Park. I wouldn’t subject a Great White shark to such garbage. We have told Celtic time and time again.
I like Cork Celt’s point about a fan zone.

A prayer for you tonight and tomorrow. Y’ar mammy was good at her job if you’re anything to go by.

Awe_Naw, did you hear the whoooooosssshhhhhh as that went over my head!
We should thump the pub team tomorrow but I concur with Sydney Tim, our forward line is mediocre. Celtic must invest. There is plenty of scope for LG to improve though.
Weefra, best wishes.

Tomorrow should be a bit of a hoot with loads of bhoys hitting the town early. Looking forward to it:)
Thank you all so much. I have tears in my eyes as I type this. This place is such a comfort to anyone who has had to suffer the loss of a dear one. Once again, thank you all. She would be so proud.

Weefrathetim,
Remember……………
When you’re weary
Feeling small
When tears are in your eyes
I will dry them all
I’m on your side
When times get rough
And friends just can’t be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
When you’re down and out
When you’re on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you
I’ll take your part
When darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Sail on, Silver Girl
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way
See how they shine
If you need a friend
I’m sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
…..but not as good or as thorough as you Ma … its your turn now
Thinking of you buddy ..you do what your Ma would want tomorrow.. nothing changes
