Jim Goodwin’s proper football team

354

In their last four outings, St Mirren won 1-5 at Tannadice, 1-2 at Celtic Park and beat Kilmarnock 2-0.  Their only points dropped was a 1-2 home defeat to Hibs after going down to 10 men early in the game.  You will not need to be reminded how Celtic teams in better form have struggled at St Mirren Park against home teams in significantly poorer form.  Or that St Mirren are the only Scottish club to beat Newco this season.

Jim Goodwin has built a proper football team* that will take points off anyone who arrives ill prepared for the task.  I find the odds, which favour a Celtic win, a tad ambitious.

*St Mirren baiting will resume when appropriate.

    Charlie Bhoy was a great young player when he broke into the team. One of the coolest finishers I’ve ever seen. However, being a great player doesn’t make you the most sharpest off the park. We are constantly reminded of this and our media pals are only too happen to provide the platform.

  4. ZIGGYDOC,

    I used to know Charlie quite well when he had the pubs in Glasgow.The thing that really gets me is,you would have struggled to find a bigger Tim.I don’t mind him slaughtering the powers that be at Celtic,but when he comes out with this sort of latest guff,its disgusting.He was maybe relevant when he was on Sky,now just looking and sounding desperate for a headline.Only too quickly gobbled up by the SMSM.

  5. From last thread and for info re: J Kennedy next manager betting.

    Certain firms – eg Skybet – will pay out on scenario of a named caretaker being in charge (under whatever job title) of team selection for 10 competitive games.

    It’s not beyond the realms of possibility that JK takes over in that role at some point before the end of this season and gets at least 10 games in charge.

    In which case he would be declared a winner by some firms for Next Celtic Manager market purposes.

    I would say (and hope) that this is the factor which is primarily responsible for his position in the betting markets.

    Bitton? Waste of money. But then so many have been..

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

    Bought for £700,000 and seven years of service? Any waste was that he was never used properly – just my opinion.

  8. Charlie is probably just obeying the SMSM rules to get his pay check

    You want a gig then we only want anti Celtic stuff.

  9. The game I remember Big Nir for,was the one in Israel.5-2 up from the 1st leg,we were 2-0 down,in the return,and all over the place.He was brought on for the last 20 mins,and proceeded to calm the whole team down with a terrific display of keeping ball.Guided us into the CL group stage.Waste of money though.Aye right.

    Just as I was saying never got a run in his best position. His adaptability may have worked against him.

    Ho ho.

    Interesting Pablo that you framed this article around a message that says

    “Jim Goodwin has well prepared a team we need to be ready to face”

    As opposed to ….

    “Look at how well Jim Goodwin sets up a team. I wonder if he’d be an upgrade …”

    Very first measure of any team in any sport – a basic prerequisite (which should be automatic) ….

    Is the group greater than the sum of its parts?

    In this context ….

    St Mirren – Yes

    Celtic – No

    Hail hail

    Keep The Faith

  12. Nir Bitton has over 230 appearances for us, when cup games and Europe included

    It’s only league appearances if quoting 150

    At approaching 30, he should be a first team regular, his versatility may be impacting on this, and Neil’s insistence on playing at CH, he’s 6’5″ so must be a CH thought process

  13. Happened to have the misfortune of spending a night with Charlie and Jimm Duffy at a table for a chartity night.

    Two of the biggest anchors you could ever with to meet. Arrogant smart assed clowns.

    my impression of him hasn’t changed since..nor Duffy for that matter

    Be delighted if we could win. Don’t expect to. We have better players. They have a better attitude and better manager. Itself an indictment of our club leadership.

  15. What is the Stars on

    Bitton

    Sorry to see him him go

    good footballer,calm in possession,could pick a pass…. are these qualities (like salad dentistry and forgiveness) alien to the Glasgow mind !!!!

    Take your point fully but he’s contributed very little in that time, injury prone and a bombscare as well.

    If we could get £1m for Bitton, which I doubt we will.

    I would bite your hand off

    ~~~~~~~~•••••••••
    Can I ask , what would you do with the £1m?
  19. !!BADA BING!! on 9TH FEBRUARY 2021 12:39 PM
    I think Championship teams in England would take Bitton, so £1 m plus could be done.
    _____
    There are players in England, who aren’t as good as Bitton, going for a lot more than £1m. He might not have turned out to be the player we thought he might be, but he’s still decent and a regular international. Big job for the new manager, although he’ll have a blank slate almost.
    Can I ask , what would you do with the £1m?
    I’d imagine the reply will include something about bonuses
    If it were me I’d buy a young Victor Wanyama and a Jeremie Frimpong. EASY
    Who would win in fight between Nir Bitton potentially the best midfielder in Scotland against Olivier Ntcham potentially the best midfielder in Scotland?
    ___
    😂 😂
    Ntcham will be back in the summer, potentially.
