JINXED CELT OUT AGAIN

INJURY-JINXED Celt Marvin Compper won’t travel with the squad tomorrow for Wednesday’s Champions League second round qualifying tie against Rosenborg.

The German defender, bought for £1.2million from Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig in January, has been sidelined with an abductor problem.

Compper, 33, played for 45 minutes in the pre-season win over Standard Liege, but hasn’t been seen since.

He made only one start last term in the Scottish Cup victory over Morton at Parkhead in March.

With Jozo Simunovic facing an extra one-game ban after his red card against Alashkert and Belgium’s World Cup centre-half Dedryck Boyata unavailable, Brendan Rodgers is likely to go with the inexperienced double-act of Jack Hendry, 22, and 20-year-old Kristoffer Ajer, who played in last week’s 3-1 win over the Norwegians.

However, frontmen Leigh Griffiths and Jonny Hayes are likely to be in Rodgers’ travelling squad.

A prize of a third round tie against Greek champions AEK Athens awaits Celtic – if they do not slip up in Trondheim.
