Congratulations to Scotland’s Player of the Year, Stefan Johansen, and Young Player of the Year, Jason Denayer. It’s fair to say Stefan had an underwhelming first eight months in Scotland, but the turnaround since October has been stark.
It was during our home defeat to Hamilton Accies that month that I noticed a change in his game. He took on more responsibility and pressed incessantly for the equaliser. The next game, away to Ross County, was a Johansen virtuoso performance and he’s never looked back.
There was a similar ‘So what?’ reaction to Jason’s early season performances. Performances were far more like Efe Ambrose than Virgil van Dijk, but he grew increasingly assured as the season progressed. His international debut two months ago was merited.
Manchester City want him back for next season, where he’ll be second reserve for central defence. On the upside, he’ll get six games, some of which will be in the cups against lower league opponents. If City and the player want to map a route to the first team, this is a step in the process, but it’s not without its risks to the player.

Thanks for posting that article.
Will need to have a serious word with Martin.
What was he thinking about?
If VvD and Denayer leave we need to sign two CHs. I like Lustig but wouldn’t have him there plus he’s too injury prone. Denayer is a great footballer but with the money Man City have, he’s no chance of getting a game at CH. I’m not sure he’s physical enough either for the Premiership. If we need two new CHs, the sooner we get them the better, though we do have options with Mulgrew.

The hurt was palpable throughout that article.
……. ……………..
Frankly, I’m astonished having just read the article. Martin Hannan’s a Tim. He is either being devious and believes that having King in charge of Sevco will further compound their troubles and will provide us with more
merriment or he is doing a Keevins and has spotted a niche in the smsm market for a controversial Tim journo who will big up Sevco and have a go at Celtic and this is his opening gambit. Appearances on TVS shows and Radio Phone Ins will surely follow.
Starry..
Re: the huns, rules are made to be broken…sfa.com
My friends in Celtic,
As Paul 67 has alluded to I think the home defeat by Hamilton ( under a superb manager in Alex Neil who is only 33 by the way ) defined our season. As in any walk of life you can learn more in adversity, both players and management.
While we all crave a good European run we all realistically know its harder to attract the quality signings that MON made, even if pro rata we were willing and able to spend that sort of money. However we the fans can help RD and the team by buying ST’s if financially affordable and more importantly actually going to as many games as possible. ( I know. I know )
IMO the constant blame culture towards PL is a convenient diversion. Yes he has faults, who hasn’t, but if we want to help our cause in attracting / retaining players and encouraging the team then large enthusiastic crowds will certainly help.
It will also be the perfect GIRUY to the huns who love to say our lower crowds is down to them.
HH to all.

Why dont you invite Hannan to an interview to justify his article on allowing a convicted fraudster into Scottish football to help stop Celtic
How many wrongs make a righr in a lamb eaters world?
If we do indeed need more of a challenge (for the good of the game, of course), why are journalists not thinking about how Aberdeen might strengthen? Or Dundee United? Maybe even manager of the year inspired Inverness? Or perhaps promoted Hearts, free of their past difficulties?
No, there’s only one club they really want to see helped out. That’s the true agenda.
In fact why not just hand them promotion right now – for the good of Scottish football.
Four big hoops urnae hoops. They’re bands.
A non-starter for me if true.

Sports direct will fill the void of not having a league sponsor!
Stories you will never read Part 1690
Sevco’s fourth successive title should have everyone in Scottish football worried. It is surely not healthy for a single club to be so dominant, and can anyone seriously doubt that Sevco will go marching on to win championship after championship?
Seven or eight titles in a row is not just possible but probable, because Celtic could take years to get back to their best.
Dont want to keep the awards chit chat dragging on.. just catching up here
Did a championship manager not win it couple years ago when lennon took us to a title and last 16 in europe ?

It certainly defined my likelihood of ever ever being allowed to use the family tickets again in the autumn.

leftclicktic,
You are amazing.
Every day is a battle as well.
All I see from you is, an incredible willingness to impart knowledge that is Good.
humbling.
Any article proposing that Celtic be disadvantaged, by favourable rule changes to Sevco.
Is purely illustrative, of the notion of entitlement.
i.e…We have always cheated, and we claim a continued right to cheat….Let us cheat.
Now, for any journalist, to come up with this line of argument…..they cannot be taken seriously.
That article was written by an idiot, who has quite obviously taken leave of his senses.
Sheer unadulterated Hunguffery.

Dave King and league reconstruction.
Beggin’ for them.
When what they really need is the trust of a bank and the city, which Celtic have in spades.
The long game.
From twitter ;))))
Congratulations to Kris Boyd, who finishes the season as the Scottish Championship’s joint-39th top scorer with 3 league goals.
Ps get the best team on the park on Sunday and then give them an extra two wks holiday.
As for manager of the year the media orchestrate this every year to ensure it isn’t a Celtic manager. Any old excuse is given for it.
More institutional sectarianism.

It kinda looks like Hannan is saying, hey never mind the rules let him in, and you know what ? They probably will never mind the rules, and he probably will be allowed in, as far as I’m concerned one way or the other it will not make any difference, with or without him they are slowly getting back to the old ways, not a mention of who was tapped for last months wage bill? One way or another they are heading to hell in a hand basket, of that I have no doubt,
Martin Hannan? An attention seeker of the highest order, it covers up his poor poor attempt at journalism to say the least, it’s either soup, or Lamb, take your pick.
To be fair to Hannon, I do recall all the press had similar stories about ending the Hun’s domination near the end of their 9iar.
Living in a parallel universe…………..:0)
Thanks Sandman and starry plough.
“Everyone wants to see a strong Celtic but not too strong” Fergus McCann.
I keep going back to the fact that Oldco were described as the “Establishment club” by certain members of the media during their liquidation.Every help will be afforded them and Celtic will be vilified if we, as a club, don’t accept this meekly. If Newco don’t win the play offs expect demand for change.
TD67
T…Its probably both….Soup and Lamb.
The purpose….like you say, is…..Let us cheat.
HH
dont suppose that Martin Hannan will be getting an invite or embraced at CQN coarnir for the forseeable future. I am sure he is going to lose an awfy lot of sleep over that
The photo of Ronnie’s girls being confirmed brought a tear to my eye, you see I am the father of twin girls also, and I know the pride he experienced today at his beautiful girl’s confirmation.
I hope, no, I demand his beautiful girls are at Celtic Park on the day the League trophy is presented we must get at Ronnie through his girls, the roof must be lifted so that these beautiful girls will never allow Ronnie to move from Celtic.
Lets have a look at this from an Aberdeen fan’s POV.
They got a blatant handball denied to them at Dundee which would have put them 2-0 up and 2 points better off at a time when the points were closer.
They could have taken the lead at Celtic park in the 4-0 game and that might have turned out different.
Most of the rest of the league have not beaten them regularly and they don’t face 10 men behind the ball in every league match.
A provincial team pushing the championship to May has not happened since the 80s.
They might beat Celtic this weekend.
Their fans will think we are not that far away and they’ve already put in place signings for next season including Shinnie of ICT.
In short, they are not going away and will be the strongest opposition team to Celtic next year as well.
That article is a fanboy of another Glasgow team hurting.
Him and his ilk never once wrote how boring the 90s were when a financially irresponsible Rangers (actual Rangers) ran roughshod over everyone in the league. Those were apparently great days in Scottish football.
Well the shoe is on the other foot now Journos and you’d better get used to it.
“Truth forever on the scaffold, Wrong forever on the throne,—
Yet that scaffold sways the future, and, behind the dim unknown,
Standeth The Unseen Fenian Hand within the shadow, keeping watch above his own.”
Dont know if tonyd has put this up yet, but on the day of the eire/Scotland game in Vegas at the convention there will be a five dollar levi at the door with all monies going to the kano foundation.

We’ve only done four so far and the venom is out there. I was too young to appreciate our nine in a row but, by Feck I won’t miss the huns when we do ten…God willing.HH
TBB @ 11:48,
That’s a very good point. UEFA seem, so far at least, to be implementing the FFP relatively fairly.
As you know I’m no expert in this field But one thing that I consider when Paul Murray was passed fit and proper.
He gave an undertaking not to repeat the same mistakes he had made with Rangers FC.
Surely one of the mistakes was a failure to put the necessary contingent liabilities.
That being the case and the New Club he is with has going concern issues as highlighted by no nomad and their annual accounts, a substantial loan that may be called in at short notice and there could be many other issues e.g. Ownership of assets.
Surely as Chairman of the new Ibrox Club he must ensure these contingent liabilities are covered.
Hail Hail
