Johansen becomes second Celtic addition

818

I’ve seen nothing of Stefan Johansen but I’m delighted we have signed a central midfield player.  Deficiencies up front are glaring, especially in the Premiership, but in Europe, the critical area is central mid, where we need to control more than we did this season.

Central midfield protects your defence and provides the foundations strikers stand on, it has been an important area for Celtic to strengthen since losing our top man last summer.

Conversely, Scott Brown is playing his best football since joining Celtic in 2007 but, as his European adventures were nullified by disciplinary action, the gap was unbridgeable.  Honourable mentions should go to Charlie Mulgrew, Beram Kayal and Joe Ledley, but in the case of Charlie and Joe, they were asked to play secondary, or tertiary roles, while Beram was promoted from well down the pecking order to a Champions League starter.

Please observe the usual caveats when a new player arrives.  New club, new city, new tactics, team mates, match officials and game atmosphere, Stefan has a lot to assimilate in the coming weeks.  It took six months for Victor to settle and at least as long before Mikael, Scott and Joe looked their best.

For Stefan and Holmbert Fridjonsson the primary objective of the next six months is to prepare for Champions League qualifiers, closely followed by a Scottish Cup tie against Aberdeen in three weeks.

Welcome to Celtic, Stefan.  You have a fantastic opportunity ahead.

my mistake howecer both companys are based at the same address in Guernsey so they are essentially tied together but accept that the Li or II as they are referred to may not require to cease trading in march this year ……. but still believe something is afoot

Well, as I pointed out above, they’re linked via Richard Prosser to Imran Ahmad. Conspiracy!

Sorry I meant to add that it’s the same people. I believe that quite often these funds run for a set period of time and then close down.

  6. A very warm Celtic welcome to Stefan Johansen.

Know very little about the bhoy but it would appear that he is NOT a ‘project’. We have enough of them.

    Now for a goalscorer!

Did you know that game at Leeds was played on April 1st? Big George was subbed that night with 10 minutes left.

    …………………………………………..

Remember that it was a freezing cold day and we drove through flurries of snow on the way down. I went with Phil Coles bus from Coatbridge. All the pubs were closed in Leeds but we found our way to the Irish Club were I was introduced to Tetley’s for the first time. Great night. The Leeds fans were blown away by Jinky as were the Leeds players. Some of their fans told us that they had seen George Best but after that performance they felt Jinky was No. 1.

  10. @RFCSwitcheroo @Kieran_Celtic the club haven’t even released a statement to say the 128 banned were unbanned. They’ve got what they wanted.

So anyone know if the club have apologised to the GB regarding the Motherwell shenanigans ?

That night will live with me forever. Not all for good reasons either! That night , I came home from school, and my dad had a car. Our first ever. At that time, I got taken to most home games.

I kept pestering my dad to take me for a run in the car. He kept putting me off, telling me to ” go out and play and I’ll take you a run tomorrow”.

Something told me something wasn’t quite right, so, despite his trying to sent me outside, I hung around. My brother was also acting kinda shifty! I was 8, my brother 11.

Some time later, my brother went to his room, and reappeared in the living room with his jacket on, saying he was going out to play.

As he tried to slink out the door, I noticed the end of his Celtic scarf sticking out his pocket. The penny dropped! ” yez are gain tae the gemme, ain’t yez?” I insisted I was going too.

My dad said I couldn’t go as the crowd would be too big for me.

I decided if I stood crying long enough, he’d relent and take me. Even as they walked to the car, I stood bawling my eyes out, but to no avail. I was sure as I watched the car disappear around the corner, it’d turn back for me.

I think it was about 7 pm when I accepted I wasn’t going!!!

@Kieran_Celtic @RFCSwitcheroo more interesting is the news that all those boys arrested were from the Motherwell area.

  15. RaymondPool1967

Now that it’s a FACT that no member of the Green Brigade broke seats at Motherwell will the club apologise and let the lads back in 111 ?

Thanks for posting all those links…now I’m late for work.

  17. Did anyone see the irony about Stewart Regan pontificating about possible corruption through match fixing and footballers betting, yesterday ?

    Corruption!

He has presided over the most corrupt period in Scottish football history and done not a jot about it, in fact covered up for it!!!

    Classic case of double standards.

    Welcome Stefan

  18. What about Celtic bringing the GB back and any political banners then they get banned for good.

I will always be a GB fan but if the club say no political banners then it means no although others may not agree with no political banners but if it gets the club in trouble then it has to stop.

    Stv mathematicians are amazing

They state “Its 6 weeks since stefan played”

Over to stefan ” last game I played was 15th November”

Maybe the stv boys did the maths for sevco on their points total ;)

  20. Like the cut of this new bhoy Johansen’s jib on the STV news there. Talks well, get the impression he’s no sufferer of fools; no ubiquitous Hun question thrown at him.

Hoping we’ve got a new Thommo-type of player here.

    Welcome, Stefan.

  21. Henr1ck – sigh

Ok once more for good luck. The so called GB political display was a protest at the offensive behaviour at football act. Ergo it was football related and a perfectly legitimate protest.

Celtic should have taken UEFA to task about the punishment – but Celtic wanted to ban the GB to comply with the polic and scottish governments attempts to censor debate on the bill.
