ARRANGEMENTS for the funeral of Celtic legend John ‘Yogi’ Hughes, who passed away on Monday evening at the age of 79, have been announced.
The service at St Mary’s Church in the Calton district of Glasgow has been confirmed for 12.30pm a week tomorrow, Friday August 12.
More details will be announced as they emerge with Celtic fans wishing to bid their former goal hero a final farewell.
Big Yogi became a firm favourite with the Hoops support and the chant ‘Feed The Bear’ blasted out from the terracings and stands in the sixties and early seventies as he swept in 189 goals to make him the eighth highest scorer in the club’s illustrious history.
Unfortunately, Hughes, who netted on his debut for the team as a 17-year-old in a 2-0 League Cup win over Third Lanark on August 13 1960, passed away at the start of the week in a Glasgow hospital following a short illness.
