JOTA KO FEARS GROW

CELTIC are bracing themselves for news today that could confirm Filipe Jota’s season is OVER.

The Portuguese maverick limped off after only 35 minutes of the champions’ 5-0 title-clinching win over Dundee United at Tannadice on Saturday.

Jota injured his right knee as he fell awkwardly following a challenge for possession with Allan Campbell.

The winger didn’t respnd to onfield treatment and had to be helped off by physio Tim Williamson with Adam Idah taking his place.

It was originally believed the £8.5million former Benfica ace would miss Sunday’s match at Ibrox, as CQN reported yesterday.

GAME OVER…Filipe Jota is helped off the Tannadice pitch by physio Tim Williamson.

However, it is now anticipated the news could be a lot worse with the 26-year-old flamboyant raider facing months on the sidelines, according to the Scottish Sun.

Apparently, Jota has had an initial diagnosis which suggests this campaign is definitely over with the player missing the four remaining Premiership games and the Scottish Cup Final against Aberdeen at Hampden on Saturday May 24.

After being helped off at Tannadice, the fans’ favourite returned to the pitch on crutches and with his knee in a brace as he joined in the post-match celebrations.

Jota has made 16 appearances since rejoining the Hoops club from French side Rennes in late January, just 18 months after being sold to Saudi outfit Al Ittihad for £25million.

He has claimed five goals, but, if the worst-case scenario is realised, he won’t be adding to that tally this season.
