CALLUM McGREGOR stroked home a perfect penalty-kick as Scotland beat Israel in a spot-kick shoot-out to reach the Europa 2021 play-off Final against Serbia.

It was an evening of high drama at Hampden as the semi-final encounter ended goalless after extra-time.

John McGinn netted the first penalty-kick and then David Marshall handed the advantage to Steve Clarke’s team with a brilliant stop at his right-hand post.

Ally eyes were on Celtic playmaker McGregor when he stepped up to take the second kick and he made no mistake with an unerring drive beyond keeper Ofir Marciano.

Scott McTominay, Lawrence Shankland and Kenny McLean took the following three spot-kicks to fire the Scots into the final play-off.

Hoops double-act Nir Bitton and Hatem Abd Elhamed played the ehtire two hours for the visitors with the former thumping in a spot-kick.

Meanwhile in Oslo, the Serbs rocked Kristoffer Ajer and Mohamed Elyounoussi by going ahead in the 81st minute through Milinkovic Savic, but Martin Normann levelled two minutes from time to force the game into extra-time.

However, Savic killed them off with a seond in the 102nd minute.

While McGregor and the Scots were enjoying spot-kick success at the national stadium, Shane Duffy and his Republic of Ireland team were failing in a penalty-kick showdown against Slovakia in Bratislava.

The game ended scoreless after extra-time before it went to penalties. Stephen Kenny’s team toppled out as they lost 4-2.
