JOZO IBROX BOOST

JOZO SIMUNOVIC has a chance of making the Celtic squad for Ibrox on Sunday.

The Croatian defender has missed the last couple of games while makeshift centre-half Nir Bitton partnered Christopher Jullien in the heart of the rearguard in the 4-1 Europa League play-off win in Sweden last night.

However, there is a chance Simunovic could be in the running for a place in the pool of players for the game against Steven Gerrard’s outfit.

Lennon, speaking to the Daily Record, said: “Jozo has been rested. He still has the issue with his knee, but we are hoping he will be in contention.”

The Irishman also gave an update on Kristoffer Ajer who limped off with a groin strain after only 15 minutes against AIK to be replaced by Scotland Under-21 star Anthony Ralston.

Lennon added: “He’s had a little bit of acupuncture on it and he’s getting treatment this morning and this afternoon and we will see how he responds to that on Saturday.

“Touch wood, our injuries seem to be clearing up pretty well. We will have to see how Kris is for Sunday but he is positive about it and Odsonne Edouard will be fine.

“But looking at the squad in general, apart from Hatem Abd Elhamed – who is reaching to get 100 per cent fit – and Tom Rogic, we are in good shape physically, even though it’s been a monumental month.”
