Jozo’s Achilles, McGregor, McGeady, succession for Scott

464

You can be sure Peter Lawwell was not working on contract renewals for Scott Brown, Jozo Simunovic and Callum McGregor last month, as the transfer window reached is climax, but 14 days after it closed, all three have signed new long-term deals.

Scott’s keeps him at the club until he turns 34 in two years. Jozo is contracted to 2021, when he will be 27, while Callum this morning also agreed to stay until 2021, when he will be 28.

Callum is a fascinating case study in player development. After making a substantial impact on the right wing, his form faded, but he has been reborn in central mid. More than anyone else at the club, he has an ability to instantly bring a difficult pass under control. This affords him that valuable commodity: vision.

I’m not going to tell you Callum is as good as the PSG players we saw on Tuesday, but he is the only player we have in the mould of their midfielders. They also fire the ball around with precision and control. Aiden McGeady had this ability in abundance (none of his Celtic contemporaries did). I’d like to have seen the Green Garrincha in a central role.

My sense is that we may have struggled to re-sign Jozo if questions didn’t hang over his knee. His ability is comfortably worth an eight-figure transfer fee and far higher wages than Celtic could afford. The player’s proverbial Achilles heel may bestow long-term stability in Celtic’s defence.

Celtic gambled on signing him two years ago – and let’s not forget the comments pages here were full of angst, as a regional Guardian journalist expressed astonishment that we’d gone for what he viewed as such a limited talent. We are in a place where we need to take a few chances. This one paid off.

I fully expect Scott Brown will sign one more Celtic contract to see him through his mid-30s, when thoughts at the club will turn to succession.

If they are from Livingston, they did my loft insulation and cavity wall insulation, I paid some of it though think about £350, upstairs is like toast due to the loft insulation, since been told by a joiner that cavity wall insulation can lead to airflow issues, dont know if thats an issue or not.

  4. Jobo go for it mate. I got it done a couple of years ago. Didn’t cost a penny and worth it heat wise. Pretty sure you will notice the difference living in the North Pole EK.

    Hi Jobo

I live in a semi detached bungalow and had my house insulated a few years ago. I keep the exterior of the house well maintained and painted, but about 18 months after the insulation had been installed, moss started growing on the rear wall. I called the installers out but to cut a long story short they said the house had not been properly prepped before painting. Nonsense. The long story involved getting my MP and the backer of the guarantee involved.

In the end I had to get the moss removed and the house repainted at my own expense. The house is warmer, no doubt; but I still think the retained heat is preventing the rear wall from drying naturally as it used to and promoting the growth of moss.

My neighbour never got his house insulated and he has no moss.

Bit of a ramble but hope it helps.

At a match sponsored by Heineken, a young man who supports a club that are sponsored by Magners, apparently consumed too much alcohol, and ran onto the field of play during a blackout.

Another supporter of the club sponsored by Magners then allegedly assaulted the drunk supporter.

Outraged Bloggers then demand that the intoxicated supporter is sued and made homeless. One blogger had previously described online how he was off the drink for two days to make sure he was ‘match fit for Tuesday:))’

The club sponsored by Magners will ban the intoxicated supporter.

The tournament sponsored by Heineken are set to punish the club sponsored by Magners due to the drunken behaviour of the supporter.

It is not known how much Heineken or Magners had been consumed prior to the outrage.

Bloggers with no knowledge of the circumstances of the supporter describe him as a ‘Chump’. His assailant is a ‘hero’. No doubt the tabloids and the Sevvies agree.

just seen your erm “interesting” post.

You were obviously referring to my posts from earlier without stating my name, for reasons only known to yourself ?

Firstly, When I decided to have a few beers last Friday and Saturday and took the next two days off to ” Get match fit for Tuesday”….that was to give my liver and WALLET a wee rest.

During drinking a few beers on Fri/Sat…I didnt invade an area illegally…nor did I attempt to feckin assault someone….Especially a “Boy” who was younger than me When I was 22 years of age I knew then as I do now how to feckin BEHAVE MYSELF even when drinking !

If this CHUMP knew he couldnt handle himself or had no control of himself when drinking then he’s EVEN MORE o f a feckin CHUMP…Hes a prick who deserves a feckin good slap.

NOTE See above reply to GORBALSTAM.

As for me not knowing the ” circumstances” of the supporter ?????

are you having a feckin laugh ?

what “circumstances” do you refer to ?

The “circumstance” that an ADULT/MAN aged 22 decided to get pissed oot of his napper, lose control of ALL he was doing and then shame MY CLUB in front of millions of eyes across Europe, with the sole determination and intention to physically assault a young Boy ( aged 19/20) who just happens to play for PSG……What term would you use to describe this Chump who shamed MY club ?

As for you to describe him as ” a supporter”….a supporter of what exactly….how was his CHUMP LIKE actions on Tuesday in any way an example of being a Celtic supporter ?

  9. I meant to ask CLOGHER….Where in ANY of my posts earlier did I demand that the CHUMP INVADER is made homeless…please repost where I said that ?

As for him being sued…this Chump was the feckin instigator for getting a CELTIC SUPPORTER into trouble with the Law, so why shouldnt the Chump pay the TEAL Celtic supporters Court fine, and I DO hope that WHEN Celtic…MY FECKIN CLUB are FINED by UEFA ( at the very least)…my club Celtic send that CHUMP TWAT the feckin bill.

iF you have a problem with that then….feckin tough !

There is a reason houses are built they way they are with a cavity, and it’s for air flow, unless you have a wood built interior with a brick exterior, then you don’t need to fill it in, it will be warm enough, no way would I fill in the cavity, but as ever you can take all the info you get and decide.

Trust me I know about dampness problems, I am having serious bother with a neighbour that lives down-underneath the Rambla from me, he reckons that my pool is leaking into his cave, it’s not but he does have problems, it’s not from my pool but from a pipe that fed the pool, it burst and deposited about four pools worth of water into the ground before I sussed what was happening, anyways, the heat is drawing the moisture out of the ground and it’s making his cave rather wet, thankfully so far he hasn’t gone to the cooncil, but trying to convince him that it’s no my pool is hard.

Back to your decision, don’t do it would be my advice, insulate your loft to your hearts content but leave your cavity alone :-)

    No can do.

The CHUMP INVADER ADMITTED his guilt in Court, so how can a “not proven” verdict happen ?

  16. Jobo,

My memory might be playing tricks on me but I think I remember years ago there was a problem with companies not doing this properly and letting the new insulation drop below the existing DPC (damp proof course) leading to rising damp….

If you are going to let them do it….ask some pointed questions in writing…..good luck ;-))

London missed a beat not having a Fan Zone for tonights match in Islington. Islington Green would have been big enough for the Cologne fans without tickets, plenty bars, restaurants around, set up toilets, pop-up bars etc. Main bus routes got blocked anyway, might as well allocated what is a public space, not too far from the stadium.

You are spot on re the reason for cavity walls, fill that and you are guaranteed to increase condensation and dampness down the road. Add it externally with flammable insulation and cladding, recipe for disaster as has been shown.

I thot about the Grenfell disaster when Jobo posted earlier, aye, people who have been building houses for many years know what they are doing, it’s taken long enough for the brits to build with a wooden interior, but they are getting there, but air flow is paramount.
