Nothing makes sense about the reports that Manchester United and Chelsea are considering a bid for Josip Juranovic. It is just less than a year since the player signed for Celtic. For much of that time he played at left back, a position he had never played before and did not enjoy.

While he was an important part of the story last season, his impact was significantly less than at least four other new arrivals. I’m not seeing the evidence leading to such interest.
What we know for sure is that this publicity is disruptive. I am also sure the newspapers reporting did not make the story up, there is a source of the disruption. Jura will move on eventually, but it would take a spectacular bid to convince Celtic that time was now. In the meantime, all they can do is try to disuade the disrupter.
Good luck to Dundee United in Alkmaar tonight. I suspect they are not ready for the challenges of away games in Europe, but reaching the Conference playoff round would be a huge achievement. It would also give them a chance of stemming the flow or red ink all over their accounts.

Not happy with the Dutch TV coverage — far too much coverage of the DU fans.
Always on the lookout for “characters” to highlight — burds / fat men sleeping.
Showing the DU support leaving the stadium with 20 minutes to go was very cheap.
I fear that we are now the laughing stock of Europe / European football.
Either that or the Dutch are a bunch of ersewipes when the mood takes them.
I could use my influence to get a few sacked in the morning.
Wife’s family are DU supporters so I might not even need to ask.

It’s pretty unarguable that we’re a better team right now than the one that beat az alkmaar 2-0 at home and held them to a single goal defeat in the Netherlands
We would start with two better defenders, and four better attacking players. 6 players who would be better than those who put alkmaar out
Thats all I was saying. I would be confident we’d go through with a single goal defecit. Although we did finish a bazillion points ahead of Dundee United in the league so I’d be confident we’d be more than a goal up

The DU team set up was horrible — LB pushing up left a prairie of space behind him.
DU — team with a bit of quality but no coaching / organisation?

AZ looked a competent outfit , they were aggressive , physical and were up for the job in hand , but I was really impressed how they converted most of the chances there good play deserved Something we could do with copying , that way we won’t have to read how we were saved even after 82% of the play . If only Scottish teams stopped clogging their way through the domestic league and actually tried to play football, then they wouldn’t have to completely change their game when it comes to Europe. Aberdeen and Dundee Utd played some lovely football back in the early ‘80s….and were successful.
Hubs in the early ‘70s were a great team to watch, (Hibs 6 Sporting Lisbon 1 immediately springs to mind)

In putting down sevco’s win against Union Saint Gilloise someone on this site described the Belgian club as a mid-table spfl team. Just like Dundee Utd who conceded seven or Motherwell who lost home and away to an Irish club. A few years ago Kilmarnock, who had finished third in the league, were knocked out of Europe by a Welsh team. I think Union Saint Gilloise, who finished second in the Belgian league, are way more than a mid-table spfl team.
The standard in the spfl is steadily getting worse.
We’ve too many teams chasing too few supporters – most SPFL teams have attendances less than Div1 in England.
