Justice without fear or favour, but much more to come

400

The SFA Judicial Panel which disciplined Rangers two weeks ago was independent of the SFA.  Tonight’s appellate panel was also independent but as I was reminded tonight, there’s independent and there’s ‘independent’.

Celtic Quick News has cast its share of aspersions in the direction of the SFA in recent years but even President What-school-did-you-go-to? could not spike what appears to be well established processes.

The consequences from tonight’s decision by the SFA appellant panel will run deep for Stewart Regan, and I suspect life would be easier for him if a more accommodating verdict was returned, but the structure he created delivered what he promised.  Justice, without fear or favour. Credit where due.

You and I have a responsibility to start rebuilding trust, and Scottish football, from here. Don’t wallow in past times, or a in an old victim mentality. Tomorrow belongs to you and your neighbours who support Aberdeen, Dundee United, Hibs, St Mirren, Motherwell and many others. Make sure you enjoy that future and are not consumed by past torments.

Rangers is a former football club.  They played their last game on Sunday 13 May 2012 at Perth.

We’ve been predicting this for months, and if you think the revelations and shocks are over, think again.  Empires will crumble, oceans will dry and galaxies will collide next week.  The surface has only been scratched.

Charles Green is neither a Preferred Bidder, by way of not having paid £500,000 for that right, or an Owner!

His consortium (20) have a period of exclusivity to complete the purchase of the club and this is expected to be finalised at a creditors’ meeting on 6 June por cierto.

The arrogance of theses people is there for all to see. Anyone knows that to take a bully down you need that initial piece of bravery to stand up to them. Yeah they will threaten you, yeah they may try and hit out at you yeah they may try to justify their actions as part of some throw back to a child hood problem but ultimately they will lose their power and hold over you. Well done Panel 2 and the SFA. At last they got it right. It may have taken 100 or so years of head in the sand, delayed player registrations, bigotry, apathy, you name it. Our national football association is beginning to do the right thing.

  3. Morning, amazing what happens when the old SFA blazers are replaced by an independant panel JUSTICE !!!!

I am against a New Club in the SPL , but I am not against them continuing as RFC in Admin next season with their key players walking away and the big tax case decision not announced.

They will be bottom of the league getting gubbed every week, worried about going away to Ross county in a relegation six pointer.

We won’t have won until they think they are beaten.

They’ll only think they are beaten when they are playing in the third division.

    Morning all

Their slow, painful death is such fun to watch. This morning I am particularly tickled by the fact that the Big Tax Case appears to have become an irrelevance. Our Hero has done a fine job of killing them off without the assistance of the FTT.

I wonder what joys await us today…

Excellent! ……apart from the fact that, in Hateley`s column, it cannot be dismissed as reality!

Couple of contrasting approaches from RM:

“If 50 of us could get tickets for the game , at diffrent entrances , we could handcuff ourselves to the turnstiles in a silent protest.

Like the suffragettes did trying to get votes for women”

  8. The last few days on CQN have been like that alleged football match between Britain and Germany in WW1. We had a truce where Celtic football matters were back on the agenda but now we are back to the reality of the Hun!

Hopefully, the matter will eventually be resolved justly and we can return to celebrating (and criticising) Celtic.

In the meantime, enjoy the aroma of justice.

But Mr Green has already purchased 85% of the share-holding, does that not make him the owner?

  12. As the price of acquiring the bones of RFC(IA) and turning it into a New Club continues to fall at an impressive rate, the phrase ‘distressed debt’ comes to mind.

Even ol’ Machiavelli himself (i.e. Craigy Craigy Whyte) can’t possibly have had a cunning plan which foresaw the sh*t storm now taking place.

Can any of you accountancy types out there tell me is there is a term beneath ‘distressed debt’ which indicates the (latest) ‘value’ of RFC(IA) … ?

It goes on to say he ‘ could be forced to think twice about continuing with his proposed £8.5m rescue package ‘

  23. It is good to see that Stewart Regan has followed through on the change required within the SFA ; it is striking that independent reviews have delivered fair verdicts. There are still parts of the SFA stuck in the 17th century , notably John Fleming who is a big Rankes fan and his referees. Of course throughout the SFA from Campbell Ogilvie to Darryl Broadfoot the ‘ what school policy ‘ dictated the majority of hires. Stewart Regan has shown moral fibre and honesty to address the problems.

However compare Regan and Doncaster. Doncaster has a chequered past and his only interest is to achieve his bonus. No matter if Rangers are found to be funding nuclear weapons in Iran , he will turn a blind eye. He has the support of Ralph Topping ( another Rangers man ) , Chairman of SPL and who recently resigned from the SFA. He also has major challenges at his day job as CEO of William Hills.

Both Doncaster and Topping have a vested interest in having a newco in the SPL. If either of them were running the SFA instead of Regan it would be the same old cover up that has resulted ultimately in today’s mess. Topping should resign from the SFA like he did at the SFA ( he is only staying there to saving his beloved newco ) ; I expect him to resign once he has done the dastardly deed. Doncaster should be sacked ; I wonder if he would pass the SFA ‘ fit and proper person act’ ; I have my doubts.

Yesterday was only one small step on the road to an equitable system in Scottish football. Until we have men like Mark Wotte , Regan who are Impartial replacing the cheats such as Ogilvie, Fleming , BRoadfoot, durst teams rangers doctor etc we have a long way to go.

I might get in to a boxing ring and get put in to a coma. I might be lying in th hospital bed in my coma dreaming that I am still in the ring fighting. The pummelling I have taken is no less real. I’m beaten, even if I don’t think so.

  25. I might add Ernie that a small part of me would quite like to see new rangers in a relegation battle in the SPL.

But the other 99.9% wants to see them in Div 3 if I have to see them at all.

  26. By the way ernie, I was originally writing about the SFA when I wrote that.
