Juxtaposition of Keane with wannabes elsewhere

Worst Rangers [sic]chief executive in history?

Worst Rangers [sic]fans in history?
Oh, please.  They have played their part to perfection.

Worst Rangers [sic]manager in history?
Who, Ally the Great Enabler?  No way.

Charles Green would not have any authority at Ibrox if Ally McCoist didn’t act as his enabler last year.  While every Celtic fan with a keyboard was typing “Can they really be so stupid again?” Ally was cutting a deal for almost 5% of the share capital of the company [sic].  None of this would be possible without Ally.  If you see him, buy him a pie.

The juxtaposition was pointed out to me:

19 years after John Keane stepped forward with an amount of money very precious to him..

With no guarantee it would solve our problems…

Or that he would see a penny of it again (for the record, he hasn’t, and he is unlikely to)…

A very different history played out across the city.

Today’s Herald told us the group trying to overthrow the Sevco board contains Jim McColl and that, “McColl is one of Scotland’s richest people, but he won’t spend his own money”.

The world is full of rich men who will not spend their own money.  Long may they squabble over the Ibrox debris.

Our honorary chairman, John Keane, waved to the Celtic Park crowd before letting the league flag fly high, a direct consequence of putting his money where his mouth was.

I was too young to be allowed to go to such a big game at night. Me, my sister and my mum are watching the game ( delayed transmission) and although we are a goal down we are right in the game. My dad comes in and doesn’t even say ‘hello’. We knew we’d lost. I can now live with it – but never really got over it or Milan in 70. Inter in 72 was bad and Atletico in 74 still annoys me but 69 & 70 were the two we should have won.

We have had our fun with the zombies…. watching them die…. looking as if another funeral coming soon

Maybe time we laid off them and let them sort themselves out to give us a challenge in scotland

What dya say hoopies : This humour at their expense has gone on forfar too long

  3. Paul67 great leader post.

A major difference between us and them is we have Jinky as our greatest player…they have a thug,Greg. Says it all!

  4. Maigh Eo 4 – 17 Dún na nGall 1 – 9 in front of a crowd of almost 64,000 . Maigh Eo have slacked off. Eamonn McGee has been sent off for stamping on the neck of Enda Varley. Horrible act by the Donegal defender. This has to be the worst performance in Croke park ever by All Ireland champions.

THERE WAS CONTROVERSY during Jim McGuinness’ post-match press conference after last year’s All Ireland final as the Donegal manager refused to take part until a journalist had left the room.

Having just led the county to a second ever Sam Maguire win – their first since 1992 — McGuinness entered the customary media briefing and, upon taking his seat, briefly spoke to GAA communications staff before walking out again.

Declan Bogue of the Belfast Telegraph was then informed by GAA press officer Siobhan Brady that McGuinness would not return while he remained present. Bogue agreed to leave and McGuinness soon came back in.

The pair had history as a book by the Fermanagh journalist released in 2011 led toMcGuinness dropping All-Star defender Kevin Cassidy from the Donegal inter-county panel.

The Gweedore man had made comments about McGuinness’ training methods in ‘This Is Our Year’, which prompted him to remove Cassidy the previous November. He later asked Cassidy back into the panel but he refused. Bogue attended the press conference in Clones after the Ulster final and McGuinness did not object on that occasion.

Most journalists present were unaware of what had happened and many have stated if it were to happen again they would all walk out.

I suspect there will not be anyone asked to leave today (assuming Jimmy turns up)

A wonderful Mhan put his hand in his pocket to the tune of £1m to save our Club, with no guarantees at all, and with no financial gain motivation….he simply loved Celtic….. I just think it was amazing, and deserves the eternal / unreserved praise of everyone in the Celtic Family …. It certainly should not be compared to the oldco shoite in ANY way …. HH

John Keane highlights the difference between us and them. Many a Celtic fan would have done the same had they had the money. Lots of celtic fans then spent more than they could afford in the first share issue – with no expecation of financial return, just to help out the club.

John Keane is a Celtic fan and did what he did for love of the club. They have noone like that. They’re just not cut from the same cloth – as him or as us.

I don’t doubt it. Preferable to many who have both captained and managed their club since – both liquidated and otherwise- mind you. Dreadful bunch

    I’m glad we agree.

What John Keane did was admirable, but it wasn’t insane.

Anyone doing the same for the huns would have been off his head.

  19. Another, perhaps unkind memory of 69 Cup final. The previous day, with THEIR usual arrogance, THEY announced that the stadium (the rest of us had parks and grounds, THEY had a ‘STADIUM’ doors would be opened from five o’clock on the Saturday afternoon to welcome back the cup.

At two minutes past three Big Billy had decided that the gates would be kept shut.
