On tonight , it seems to me that the players are terrified/not allowed to depart from BR’s tactics, no matter what happens in a game.
Agree on Sunday.

Colby Donovan is afar better player and one of the few players who played well. Luke McCowan did OK when he came on but how Nygren Hetate stayed on the pitch for so long is on Rodgers. Our corners and free kicks were atrocious and I’d be surprised if we don’t have a massive hangover from this and drop points against the huns.

The Board, the manager and the players ALL share the blame tonight.
Brendan’s team selection and tactics were wrong and Yang should have been hooked after 20 minutes. The rest of the team were barely any better and played like it was a pre-season against Troon juniors.
The penalties utterly shocking.

We play exactly the same way against every team.
Any half decent manager has us worked out before the game starts.
Shut Callum down, press the midfield and let the defence pass the ball to side and side to each other all night, while you regroup.

Our defence can’t even pass the ball to one another under no pressure. A really poor pool of defenders to choose from. Thought ccv was really poor and has been for a while.

Probably for the best not being in Champions League. It would just be embarrassing.
———————————————-
Am not sure we wont be embarrassed in the Europa League. Everyone is to blame, to a varying degree……
-The board has not supported the manager with recruitment
– The manager is one dimensional, and that can bite you when Plan A doesn’t work. Can we not shoot rather than recycle in the horseshoe system we seem to have to stick so rigidly to
– The players there should have been enough to beat Almaty, no question. 2 games and they did not turn up
A shambles on an epic scale

It’s this rotten system that Rodgers he as instilled with the players, he will be shown up this season,Rodgers blaming the pitch, etc,if it was another manager he would resign immediately, hopefully that happens next season with a good young quality manager, who will play the real Celtic Way,with at least 6 Quality players,

That is right up there with the worst I have seen us play.
Kairat were truly awful and we were not good enough to beat them over 220 minutes- that is embarrassing.
As individuals the players were very poor tonight – there is no pass marks for anyone but some were astonishingly poor and frankly desire looked to be lacking in some. McGregor in particular deserves some criticism tonight – he should be driving the team forward demanded and leading by example. His example tonight was terrible – constantly backwards and side ways 5 yard passes. He gave the ball away and was robbed constantly and it was because his first instinct was to go backwards. His pointing to others about where to pass when he could have done it himself is driving me up the wall.
The manager has to recognise an alternative plan. We are predictable and slow and even that mob tonight with little prep were able to blunt us. He needs to find another way – playing out from the back on a pitch like that was foolish – there are times to play the game in their half and press them in there to make errors not the other way round.
Finally the board – well you reap what you sow and that lot are a disgrace to this clubs history. Shame on them
the long wait is over on
ZIGGYDOC1 on 26TH AUGUST 2025 8:42 PM
I know we weren’t up against much but the defence did okay.
Defenders in my view like to defend.
CCV likes to defend.
I don’t think he enjoys having the ball at his feet more often than almost anyone in the team but that’s how we play.
When was the last time a midfielder picked the ball up and drove forward 30/ 40 yards?
Even if we had the players to do it – McGregors legs are going imo and Bernardo doesn’t get a game – we take so long to be the ball out against anyone other than Scottish domestic dross the midfield are marked out.
I hope Russell Martin is as poor a coach as the Rangers fans seem to think he is.
If not and he susses us out as Clement and even Barry Ferguson did last season , Sunday could be tough.
it shouldn’t be but neither should Almaty have been and they have just humiliated us.
KevJungle on
If there were any serious people on the board then Rodgers wouldn’t be allowed back onto the clubs return flight, and convene a press conference on the Celtic Way and announce that Rodgers has been SACKED and is no longer a part of the club, neither is daft arsed MON for twisting the boards arm up their back to take a relegated manager to Celtic, after the Tony Mowbray disaster.
Luckily for Rodgers he wasn’t competing against the EBT Doped-up Huns like BTM was.
