  1. Come on Brennan. Give us your entitled fans and panic merchants lines again. Tonight is on the board and their sycophants like you.

  2. glendalystonsils on

The board are fortunate that Sunday is not a home game . Worked by a billionaire golfer by remote distance control , seemingly at war with the manager and witholding recruitment funds either by design or imcompetence . It’s more like a soap opera or a netflix series than a feckin football club .

The end result …? ……..our worst qualifying fuckup ever . Because that Kairat team is worse than Copenhagen , Mitylland or Cluj or any of the other poor teams we failed to get past .

If we don’t recruit and the present civil war continues , it might be worth a punt on Hearts for the league …. we’ll be stretched by European games and they won’t

I meant that the manager spends too much time telling the world that he needs quality signings. Players take their lead from him, I think he’s gone too far

I agree that Stan Petrov had a point though, we don’t seem to have big characters in the dressing room.

Perhaps this will be the making of them, like Basel was for that team

  4. couldn’t have asked for a better draw.

no kuhn , kyogo, jota: no play upfront.

a tired poor squad had no one to aim for.

we still got quality in some places

    calmac, it’s time to ration

we missed KT when they tired

not one of that shower would get into hertz’ team

the model has its moments and we did f all against a pub team over two legs

  5. MOISEY17 on 26TH AUGUST 2025 9:53 PM

Whilst the manager is not blameless the club has basically sold the best two attackers and not replaced them.

The club replaced Kyogo with at least an as good an attacker in Jota.

It’s nobody’s fault he got injured

  6. Kieran Tierney is a real worry, offered next to nothing tonight and strange to think he is still not match fit.

It looks to me that we have changed our style of play to accommodate him and taken a huge step backwards as a result.

I fear the worst on Kieran.

  7. Tonight was dreadful. Painfully dreadful.

Enough will be said about the poor quality of the squad by Celts over the coming days,

This is a re run of Rodgers first spell here. Remember the window he wanted McGinn, Shar and Piccolo? All available within budget and Lawell delivered none of them .

Are the Boca Jnr player and Balwiska his targets ?

He has a personality clash with people on the Board.

He will leave at the end of the season at latest.

To be truthful his crab football is a bane to watch every game.

This shambles tonight is firmly at the door of the disfunctuality between Brendan and the Board.

Brendan cant walk now because he said he would honour his contract.

    But something’s gotta give.

  8. Whoever is to blame, it’s everyone’s job to make up for your eff ups by doing the best you can for the rest of the season.

Why is anyone surprised by this? I’m beginning to wonder if there are people who watch Titanic for the tenth time and think “maybe it won’t sink this time”.

  10. glendalystonsils on

I do agree that Brendan could have been more diplomatic in some of his comments to the media regarding lack of quality . He’s right of course and I can understand why he did it , but it wouldn’t do much for the morale of some of the players who are presently having to plug the gaps . He’s usually cuter than that .

Having said that , the root cause of the malaise doesn’t lie with the manager .

  11. I feel scunnered but not surprised.

This collection of players have failed to turn up too many times in the last year…always when it mattered.

Yes, the board are incompetent or deliberately undermining Rodgers (blame Idah & Engels for that) but, our team properly managed should have skelped that lot, twice.

That we didn’t IS down to Rodgers & that team.

Pity our next couple of games aren’t at home.

    Best run club.

    What a fuckin joke!

    Can’t argue with that…

  13. GLENDALYSTONSILS on 26TH AUGUST 2025 10:13 PM

We spent 30m on players last Summer who had zero impact on our qualification 12 months on. 2 players who broke our transfer record two weeks apart,

The malaise isnt caused by not spending money, it’s by what its been spent on

  14. Weebobbycollins on

Midfielders McGregor and Hatate were truly woeful tonight…

Why do we take so long to take a throw-in and mostly end up conceding possession to our opponent?

We seem to be discouraged from shooting from range…

    Engels’ set pieces were dreadful…

Trying to think of something positive…Murray and Donovan perhaps.

Worrying times if DD,BR and Lawwell’s puppet are all singing different hymns…

  15. ” An Dún on 26th August 2025 9:38 pm

We’ll struggle to fill 40K seats for the Europa imo. We’ll find out soon enough.”

If your prediction becomes the reality, then I would suggest that we are becoming more Hun-like in our sense of entitlement.

I`m reasonably sure that many will disagree and say that our anger is not because we cannot accept defeat but is directed at a Board who don`t spend enough . I don`t think that is really the source (of supporter anger).

    Goodnight all.

“I’ll say it again. BR has worked for other clubs.

What clubs have McKay, Lawwell and hide and seek CEO worked for outside of Celtic ?”

    %

Their job was to bring in a swavvy bawheid just relegated, and available manager.

Kit the manager out in a Matalan version of an Epl suit, and the happy clappy, easy meat Tims, will sell the park oot, then post pics of themselves all over the internet, bedecked head to toe in Adidas trashy genocide gear, whilst waving Palestinian flags!

Cringe – does not touch the sides!

Reform party will renegotiate the GFA to stop the invasion, as Ireland is an affront to humanity.

Go woke – go broke, is the saying.

When Irish people held street parties to celebrate being allowed to legally murder the unborn, on prescription, God should have turned the island and everybody on it into stone.

When God didn’t do that, that is when I realised that all holy books were fake pish written by liars.

Good luck to Kairat in the group phase. They’re going to need it. Will be an interesting football experiment to watch the equivalent of Renfrew Juniors in the ECL.

  20. Was not among those on here who thought we “should” win in Kazakhstan…

But did believe that we “could” win.

In fact we could well have won in extra time but failed to take some well worked half decent chances.

Over the two legs Brendan Rodgers was out thought by his opposing number, and a fairly modest outfit. Not helped by his well publicised demands for more quality a refrain from two seasons back.

Anyways we will find out Friday, I think, who our opponents will be in the Europa League, still a major tournament, and see if we have a realistic chance to get into the last sixteen. Lot of football ahead of us whichever way we look.

  21. Boca fans can’t rid of of their left back quick enough desperate to see the back of him, surprised that we are taking him

  22. Rodgers said he wasn’t happy with the pitch – THEN WHY DIDNT YOU PLAY MORE DIRECT THEN?? His ego and stubbornness and the boards lock of ambition cost us.

Something drastic has to change – I’ll not watch them ruin the culture of Celtic Football Club. We played scared tonight and that is not acceptable!

    CELTIC40ME

Hard to argue that the amount of money on Idah and Engels (I’d include £6m on Trusty in that) represents money well spent . But is the answer to limit the pre qualifier spend to circa £3m?

If the blame lies with the manager (or at least his judgement) then why not get shot and trust this window’s spend to his replacement?

  24. A very familiar response from our manager

Immediately following the game a very straightforward response to the game.

In the post match conference it’s a different story, shift the narrative. It’s the boards fault for not signing anyone in time. An eye firmly on the headlines.

If we need to spend another 30m to score a single goal over 210 minutes against that team I think, at least, the blame has to be shared

  25. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    Nope. Still not over it.

This one is going to hurt for a long time.

BTW – Scottish Champions have 3 qualifying rounds to navigate next season.

    PLB re Kairat’s prospects …

I hear you but I think this could go either way.

Kairat can now afford (in Kazakh terms) funny money to buy new players, and pay all players big win bonuses for playing through their close season.

Plus, with expanded league format, I wouldn’t be surprised if the pot 1 and pot 2 teams send their reserves over to play in Almaty.
