Shakhtar Karagandy Russian manager, Viktor Kumykov, gave an interview after their elimination of the Albanian champions in the last Champions League qualifier. He talked about his team, which, unlike some in former Soviet countries, does not have an oligarch benefactor or rich sponsor.
Kumykov thought four of his potential opponents were of equal standing, although he clearly respects Celtic’s recent achievements in the Champions League.
He said, “Getting through to the play offs round is historical achievement for the club and for Kazakh football. We hope this is for the start and we would play in Europe regularly. Even if we don’t go to the Champions League, we will play in UEFA Europa League, which means we will be in the elite of the European football.
“We have made it to the group stage of one of the European competitions, which was our main target. It does not mean we can rest now and say we will not fight for more, but our main target is Cup of Kazakhstan. We have never won it before.
“From a football perspective, I think it might be better for us to be in the Europa League than the Champions League. If we go through to the Champions League we will play against much better teams, where we can meet giant clubs. For this we would need to buy few players to strengthen the team. We short of depth and players I have at the moment would not cope with big competitions. I have no experienced players.
“It’s difficult to say who against I want to play. All five teams are better than us. Celtic is different story, they are apart from the others. That team played in the Champions League last season and got through to the knock out round. They beat Barcelona. They beat Spartak Moscow away and at home.
“The Other four are all similar class one to each other but they are all stronger than us. Each of them play at a higher level. The team God gives us will be the team we will play against. It makes no sense to say who we want.”

We can’t go into the game even weaker that we were against the Elfs.
Another plastic pitch, long haul flight, jet lag.
PL needs to get the finger oot, my worry is he will gamble on beating them without bolstering the squad.
This is a CEO who disny gamble btw.
This is massive financially for us.
We will see.

I’m starting at Roncesvalles (Roncevaux in French, Orreaga in Euskera). I know a lot of people prefer to start in St Jean Pied de Port on the other side of the Pyrenees, which is where Martin Sheen and Emilio Estévez start out from in the film, but the reading I have done makes it clear that for a walker who is “not so young” and “not in such great physical shape” (ahem), it’s better to start on the other side of the mountains.
It’s not that you couldn’t do that first stage across the Pyrenees. You could. But because it’s the first stage, you would run the risk of injury, if not that day in the subsequent days owing to the exertions of St Jean-Roncesvalles. So I’m starting in Roncesvalles. I’ve got a flight booked to Bilbao and will take a bus to Pamplona and then another bus up into the mountains, with September 25 as the first walking day. I’ll probably be back on CQN some time in 2017.

Are we away for the 1st leg?
At the end of the day as long for them coming to Glasgow as us going there. Away goal crucial.
‘In December 2006, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev unveiled plans to build Khan Shatyr, a “giant, transparent tent”, over an area of the city. The project was completed in July 2010. The tent is 150 meters high, and like the pyramid was designed by the British team of Norman Foster and Buro Happold’

Can you name any team which does not play poorly now and again ? …. The trick is not losing many of those games ….. Think most reasonable supporters appreciate the disadvantage of playing opposition who are well into their season ? ……. and we are not ‘up to speed yet’ ….getting there, though..

Keep in mind, last year’s Celtic and present – are two big differences! They have two key players are gone. Equivalent replacement did not find them. We have to see them a couple of matches. I’m sure it’s real, TAKE THEM! Barca and that last year lost due to wild Celtic simplified scheme. Think of Spartacus – led and flew through the complacency game simple design of “hit-and-run.” They are stubborn, yes. But, master, not super complicated playbook at them.
Eh!!!!!!!.

Have a bet on Celtic losing the league.
Tell us the odds.
It’s not on Google
What is most amazing about this whole Sevconian saga is that despite being found repeatedly guilty and going almost completely unpunished;
despite having the MSM, SFA, judges, police and politicians all doing their best to aid them;
despite all of this, Sevco and their previous incarnation have still managed to end up in a mountain of sh*t.
What a staggering omnishambles that mob truly are!!!

Speaking of the stadium, according to rumors, UEFA has closed his eyes to the fact that we do not have toilets, seats are not like VIP lozhy missing, filled the bowl that our mayor went on the field to congratulate the players after the match against BATE Borisov. This shocked the inspectors game, because you can not be on the field to outsiders, in the locker room, please, and can not be on the field. So we played in Astana.
Pardon!!!1.
Astana Arena, where the game may be switched to, has an artificial surface!

You can always catch the opponent on undervaluation, I think there will be an underestimation. The main thing that could Kumykov players to properly configure
Sunnybhoy, have you checked your keyboard lately.
Good draw for us
Celtic have to indeed plan for this by chartering a jumbo with 1st class for players with beds and then selling rest of seats to fans no brainier
Can’t have players flying in upright seats for 8 hours
On the other point. Our spine of team gone for 20m with no replacement bought

Never tried that although i was given a large portion of what appeared to be boiled sheep fat – apparently the best part! Not wishing to offend i nibbled a few bits took a few small gulps of the ‘warm fermented camels milk’ and made some lame excuse about not being hungry.
The temp could be a big issue for us i can remeber it being +40c during the day in August albeit i was out in the desert – Tengiz oilfield.
macjay1 for Neil Lennon
Seriously? I’m not saying we will lose it but we have to make it our proirity. We are talking about a team who are playing in a league that may be of the level orf the Scottish 3rd division. Can players really not play two games in a wek at this stage of the season?
Seriously? Reserves against Aberdeen at Pittodrie? Seriously?
I am astounded that anyone would even suggest that. I would play our strongest 11. Every league game no matter who we play the next match. Players need to play together to build up momentum.
LB
Who was it that said “Define Europe”?
Middle of the Urals. Abu Dhabi has excellent connections to Astana, so thinking of packing the hooped mankini as we speak!!!
Watch the highlights of Shakhtyor Karagandy vs. Bate on the STV page.
http://sport.stv.tv/football/235516-a-guide-to-shakhtyor-karagandy-celtics-champions-league-opponents/
Constant pressure from Bate home and away, missed a penalty then lost a last minute goal playing with a “backy in” goalkeeper who fluffed a simple clearance leaving and empty net to shoot into.
Grass pitch in a small stadium, cannot see any reason to move it to another stadium as its already been used for qualifiers.
With the right attitude and even with a fully fit squad, Van Dijk and Boeriggter includes we should be good enough to beat them over two legs.
Travelling is a two edged sword they also have to fly to Scotland so no disadvantage there. Travelling to Asia in business class is a breeze, trust me I know and the Celtic players wont be drinking wine and champagne to dehydrate them!
Lenny has consistently said he will bolster the squad prior to the next qualification round, why don’t we just trust him to do that.
Hail Hail!

I assume that for somw, the £5M we have spent on Balde and Virgil not counting as replacements for players who have left.
Then again, why let facts get in the way of a good moan…
The Kazakhs will probably be somewhat surprised by how many fans there are in the visitors’ section for the second leg, although I suspect their players won’t be able to understand a word of said fans’ Govan dialect!
Seemingly cannabis plants grow freely all over the place…
