KARAMOKO UPDATE

1

KARAMOKO DEMBELE is edging closer to his first appearance for Celtic in the Ange Postecoglou era.

The 18-year-old winger, hailed as a Bhoy Wonder when he was preparing to launch his career at Parkhead, was crocked in the pre-season challenge game against Bristol City and has been on the sidelines ever since.

Karamoko had to be helped off before the end of the first-half after being on the receiving end of a horrendous challenge on his ankle from an opponent.

Speaking of the youngster’s chances of making an appearance in this campaign, Postecoglou told The Herald: “He’s been training well. He’s been out for quite a long time. We might get him some game time in the B team to start with. We’ll see how he’s tracking.

“He’s training at the moment and getting close to being available.”

Karamoko has been on the periphery of the first team during the tenures of Brendan Rodgers and Neil Lennon and scored his first goal for the club in a 4-0 league win over St Johnstone at Parkhead last year which doubled as Scott Brown’s last appearance in Paradise.

The player is out of contract at the end of the season and the manager is keen to view him in competitive action.
