KASPER SCHMEICHEL will miss his first Celtic game after being ruled out of the squad for the Scottish Cup-tie against Raith Rovers at Parkhead tomorrow night.

The legendary Danish keeper has a 100 per cent record after playing in 38 games in all competitions since he arrived as a free agent from Belgian side Anderlecht in the summer.

Schmeichel will not be risked against the Fifers with Finland international No.1 Viljami Sinisalo coming in for his debut seven months after his £1million recruitment from Aston Villa.

READY TO POUNCE…Viljami Sinisalo will make his debut for Celtic against Raith Rovers.

With the Hoops due to face Bayern Munich in the Champions League under the lights in the east end of Glasgow on Wednesday evening, Rodgers will take the opportunity to rest his 38-year-old shotstopper who has a minor knock.

The Hoops gaffer, speaking to Celtic TV, revealed: “Kasper Schmeichel won’t play. So Viljami Sinisalo will start and go.

“Kasper had a little issue with his back. So he’ll miss out in the game and, like I’ve seen in pre-season with Viljami, he’s a young goalkeeper who came in and played those games really well.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing him make his debut.”

It could be good timing for Sinisalo who is part of the Champions League squad and will be tuned up if required against the Bundesliga giants.
