Kasper spooks

Like you (if you are typical of the CQN demographic) and me, Kasper Schmeichel is older than Joe Hart.  In itself, this doesn’t mean he is wrong for Celtic, he could be a perfect fit for what we require.

I suspect, however, we will both be alarmed that our recruitment strategy has pivoted so sharply from that of any forward looking football club.

Joe worked out well for us. At the time, I viewed his signing as a consequence of a new manager arriving during lockdown, with very limited scope.

Maybe Brendan will beat the system, this way won titles here back in the 90s, after all.

Victory for football and Spain 🇪🇸

Respect for England’s organisation and their new young players but they were never winning this tournament having leached their way to the final. Some players past sell by dates, including Harry Kane.

Fair play to the English commentators who roundly acknowledged immediately that Spain were a better team.

A great day for sporting Spain from London to Berlin.

  2. Spain once again have shown the way forward

    Fantastic football team

At the back, midfield, and up front a great great team

  3. Lord Nelson. Sir Winston Churchill. Henry Cooper. Lady Diana. Margaret Thatcher. Gary Lineker. Alan Shearer. Ally McCoist.

  4. Credit Alcaraz for an amazing performance today. I am a huge admirer of Novak. Massive to get back to his level of fitness 5 weeks after his op. Young Carlos was magnificent and took it to another level.

Amazing effort by young Bob in winning his second tournament in 2 months at the golf.

    Incredible performance at the Tour.

Spain were really special though. Above them all ensuring the best football team won.

Scotland finish the tournament as the only team who beat the winners.

  5. Preliminary Superbru update

10 punters got the exact score tonight. Hamiltontim should get a prize for the 9:0 forecast he put in. Two renegades who shall remain nameless (Let’s call them Greentoymexicandonkey & Large Archibald predicted a draw or a win for England).

I’ll check again tomorrow but it looks like we have joint winners sharing the top 2 prizes- 18 yard Man & RP McMurphy on 51 points and 2 more sharing the 3rd prize on 50 points (One Malloy & Borgo67). Congrats to them

  6. Two magnificent goals.England, for all their undoubted stars,a very poor team.

The boy Williams is a fantastic player. My POTT.

  7. There is no ambiguity

Engerland are, without doubt, the worlds biggest underachievers in world sport.

With the resources they have in terms of numbers and money they have the worst record of any country at sport.

Denmark Greece Czech Holland Portugal Spain France Germany Italy all won this (many of these multiple times).

England won 1 World Cup at home back when many countries were not even professional at football.

England has won 1 rugby World Cup compared to South Africa with 4 and the All Blacks 3 and Australia 2 times. Despite more players than these 3 added together.

Similarly they have won 1 cricket World Cup which even Sri Lanka has achieved and nowhere near India or Australia or West Indies.

Yet they still seem to have such arrogance. Hopefully one day the penny will drop.

didnt take long for the snide sniping of the manager to start.

the fabled previous recruitment team – did they leave us a keeper even if brendan hasnt already signed one ?

as for “Maybe Brendan will beat the system, this way won titles here back in the 90s, after all” – i think you’ll find that “this way” contributed greatly to a double last year.

100% agreed with JF on this one.

Never interrupt your enemy when they’re making a mistake.

I like Gareth Southgate for exactly the reason so many of their fans don’t – for as long as they believe they are entitled and chosen, we have to encourage it.

I will say that generally their players are decent professionals and should do better but will enjoy the period when they don’t for a while longer.

The stats are crazy on how much they have underachieved and their first (only) win was invalid.

  11. Good morning all from a current 23 degree but still dark Playa De Las Americas, Tenerife.

What a shame for our butchers apron enemies. 🤣🤣🤣

It was great here last night with carcades, fireworks and generally a GIRUY to those rude, arrogant English fans.

What is going on at Paradise regarding signings?

    Do we never learn?

    D. :)

  12. God forgive me but around 10 o’clock last night all I could say was Thank you, God, thank you, God. The idea of them winning would have been too dire to contemplate. It really annoys me that they sing GSTK. That isn’t their anthem. Their media-all of it-is even worse. Before the match was bad enough. What it would have been like if they had won isn’t worth thinking about.

Manager Philippe Clement reckons Rangers should only consider selling Jack Butland if there is an offer of £30m for the goalkeeper. (Daily Record)

Above from BBC Scotland Football gossip this morning.

Mr. Clement I also have a bridge in London I can sell you…..

Agree on the England stuff. Their fans and media so Hun like: they genuinely expect to win but can’t see the reality in front of their noses.

On another note, did Cement really say he would sell Buckland for nothing less than £30m???

If he did he’s lost the plot before a ball is kicked.

  15. garygillespieshamstring on

They need a reality check. I think they overachieved getting to the final.

What makes the EPL a competitive league in the champions league and Europa is the number of top foreign players in their teams who enable the English born players to play at a better level.

They got a lucky draw and some jammy results. Thankfully their luck ran out.

  16. Given the games and opponents lined up against them England did exactly what any reasonable observer would expect them to do. Comfortably win their group then beat the teams on (another) very charitable run to the final, where they inevitably faced a better team and lost.

These England players aren’t the world beaters they think they are, you can pick pretty much any one of them and in their domestic teams they’re not the best player, not the player others in the team rely on to turn a poor game on its head or drag them to victory. A lot of those players were in other teams at this tournament.

They’re also poor professionals. The football world needs to be saved from this recent fashion of runners-up instantly removing their medals as they walk off the podium, before it becomes rote. 24 teams contested this competition and only 2 of them made it to the final, one of which naturally has to be the runner-up. That sight of the runners-up removing their medals shows incredibly bad sportsmanship and arrogance, they felt the medal was worthless and perhaps the other medals should be rightfully theirs. I’m pretty sure this behaviour started with England losing at Euro 2020/1.

  17. Magic….I was praying for a Spain VICTORY.

I also got my Pre Euros Bet up at odds of 7/1 with the Bookies which was a nice wee bonus.

There was NO WAY I was gonna watch the EURO Final IF McCoist was on commentary, and as soon as the commentator mentioned that McCoist and Lee Dixon were to be on co-commentary I switched onto BBC.

McCoist is the WORST ever, but not far behind is that other CHUMP LEE DIXON, who talks as IF he’s a player on the Pitch, almost like an imaginary Third Person and who also likes to think that he is somehow FUNNY with comments that are BOTH UNFUNNY and Predictable.

I can also remember back in the old days of SETANTA SPORTS, when they thought it was a great idea to have the Hun KLINGON ” MARK HATELEY” as co commentator on SPL Games.

He couldnt start a sentence without a ” OH…ER, ER” whilst stuttering all the way through the 90 minutes.

But McCoist is a league of his own when it comes to ” PUNDITERY”….and I strongly suspect that there maybe a percentage of Hun fans who also find him to be an annoying Twat ….although those Hun fans wouldnt dare admit it to anyone outside The KLAN BASE ?

Thank you GOD for the Spanish VICTORY last night !
