Kazakhstan CL ticket for Celtic

Celtic will play Shakhtyor Karaganda from Kazakhstan in the Champions League play-off round.  Shakhtyor are 22 games into their league season but are 12 points off the pace, so are unlikely to add to their two Kazak titles.

They lost 3-2 away to Skënderbeu Korçë of Albania after a 3-0 home win to reach this stage but eliminated Bate Borisov in the earlier round.

Everyone at Celtic will be delighted to know that St Patrick’s Athletic, from Ireland, eliminated Shakhtyor from the 2011-12 Europa League, overturning a 2-1 deficit to win the home game 2-0.

There is 16 hours of flight time between Celtic and Shakhtyor, not counting refuelling, so the journey will be for the hardy, but as a ticket to Champions League riches, they don’t come much better.

One to keep an eye on, five years ago Shakhtyor were briefly disqualified from league football for match fixing……..

Whilst i agree this is a good draw for Celtic, we will have to perform a lot better than we did on Wednesday, lets face it we were crap. We also need a striker who can score at that level before the next round, Kevin Doyle is mentioned, but he as not scored many even at Championship level and look were Wolves are now. Having watched Swansea last night in Sweden i am thankfull we cant draw them, they know how to keep the ball and looked solid all through, were we looked like we could concede at any time. Sorry this seems a bit downbeat but the only good thing i could see on Wednesday was the result.

Don’t worry about Chuck he will still be there. He may have ‘disappeared’ from view to appease the knuckle-draggers and Bling & Blong maybe on the board with no power but Charlie boy will still be pulling the strings.

Probably more interestingly would be who the Kazakh team would speak to if they wanted to speak to the ‘owners’ of Murray Park to hire it.

It might have been better to play them at CP first, win by the approved 5-0 and let away leg take care of itself.

I see the MSM are all over the”We will try to get rid of Ole Big Hands”while trying their damndest to ignore that the huns have only £10 million left,INCLUDING,season ticket monies.Zombies wearing the old blinkers as well. Not a mention of this crisis.

Where’s your start point if you don’t mind me asking? It’ll be an insightful walk for sure, you’ve seen the film I guess with Martin Sheen, not bad I thought..

Chuck is a genius. He has 7 % of shares but is the controller of 51% . None of the other 44% can get rid of him without surrendering their control of the Boardroom. Therefore Charles only leaves when he wants to.. With his pockets full…

  15. The Bottom Line is ………….

    I know its an ‘L’ of a journey! :-)

Looks like anyone travelling would need to take the London-Moscow overnight flight to arrive on the morning of the match.

There is no flight out after the game that evening – so it would mean an overnight stay and flights back the next day getting into London in the evening.

Including taxes – looks like flights would be in the £1400-2000 range (excluding match tickets and overnight stay).

I think the TV wins this one! :-)

“Mad” David Leggat (copyright Jack Irvine) has really taken Jack’s description of him badly. “The Sevco version of Phil Mac Giolla Bhain” (copyright Jack Irvine) is obviously not getting his orders from Media House anymore.

It seems like the Legless Loon is getting his orders from Jabba now. Oh dear.

  18. They changed formation and ensured they lost the league game when Borisov scout was watching them.

    Borisov were completely caught out.

  19. Just looked at the UEFA report on the Shakhter VS BATE game… 6 bookings for Shakhter. Don’t know about their other games but that will be partly tactical but may also mean they already have some suspended by now?

Can you name any team which does not play poorly now and again ? …. The trick is not losing many of those games ….. Think most reasonable supporters appreciate the disadvantage of playing opposition who are well into their season ? ……. and we are not ‘up to speed yet’ ….getting there, though..

  21. Elfborg will, I would imagine, be a much better team. Although they do have several internationalists (albeit mainly Kazakhstan internationalists).

  22. Lads, an elite few have signed up for the Naps competition (so far) :
