Shakhter seem convinced they will eliminate Celtic tomorrow. Their friendly journalist explained why to Kazak readers today:
“Despite winning comfortably enough in the capital last Tuesday, Celtic remain confident of overturning the deficit in Albion (sic). Getting to the group stage is not a forbidden dream for Shakhter, it is their right as a result of recent domestic success.
“Shakhter have the mining spirit of resilience, respect and strict discipline. Glasgow also has a long mining tradition but Margaret Thatcher closed the mines in the 1980s (!). Since then, Glasgow people lost their previous spirit once and for all.
“Neil Lennon was unprepared and the Celtic defenders unable to do the job in Astana. Just like BATE Borisov, they think they will overcome the result in the second leg. Just like BATE they are still unprepared for Shakhter.
“Albion’s (sic) best managers are from Glasgow, Busby, Ferguson, Stein, Shankley, Dalglish, Moyes, but the current Celtic leadership chose a man from Ireland, Neil Lennon, who is permanently under fire from fans of the “Celts”.
“Celtic have an epidemic of injuries. Stokes, Commons, Forrest, Boerrigter, Kayal and Samaras.
“The referee is from Norway. Scandinavians appreciate a tough fight. The game is a very sensitive, contact, martial arts sport. Svein Moen will understand.
“Before the game in Astana Neil Lennon said Shakhter play a very British style. Why wasn’t he able to find an antidote to this? Maybe he got Shakhter completely wrong.
“Karagandy’s three central defenders are impenetrable. They close down space and do not interfere with each other.
“The “Catholics” refuse to acknowledge that Shakhter did not miss a ball against them in the first leg. They think that because they can from 0-2 down against Inverness they can do the same against Shakhter. This is unacceptable. It will seem more absurd if the Miners open their account in Glasgow.
“In defeating BATE, Shakhter have already eliminated a higher seed than Celtic.”
Leave nothing in the dressing room, Celtic.
Charlotte Fakes
When I started Celtic Quick News in 2004 I had neither contacts nor inside information. I started writing about the accounts, which was hugely consequential but, at the time, largely ignored public information. Soon after the blog gained some momentum this changed. People would come to me with information and views which were used to direct articles.
It only took a matter of weeks to go from zero contacts to having a network of people feeding into the blog.
I have no idea how Charlotte Fakes acquired some of her early information but, with doubts over the matter, it is understandable that the media was hesitant at touching it under the shadow of Leveson.
The Charlotte Fakes story has moved on, recent revelations have nothing whatsoever to do with Mr Whyte’s mailbox. We are now in the territory of cast iron whistle-blower information. She has her own network of people feeding legally acquired information, which the whistle-blower believes is in the public interest to reveal.
Some people in the game have had their snouts in the trough for so many decades a reservoir of resentment has built up against them among those who were once collaborators but are now cast aside. You are reading the fruits of this on Charlotte Fakes.
The only question is, while the rest of the world has a new-found appreciation of the value of whistle-blowers, are ‘all the president’s men’ still prepared to look the other way in Scotland?

It’s all guess work on our part.
I would be inclined towards the club not wanting to rock the boat.
For why I have no idea, I understand that football is like no other business, but when the club are cheated, have had millions of income deprived, and given to their biggest rival, their silence is quite astonishing.
I understand the criminal aspect, ffs, we are the ones who have been on the receiving of a crime.
If I were the club, I would spend a few bob on setting up a newspaper that tells the truth.

anyone think the undermining of sfa/ spl etc… might actually adversely effect the business of celtic fc with the potential disturbance of structured football, sponsor etc etc… which therefore places celtic in a dilemma whereby they must find a route of punishment etc… that identified the wrongs but allows for celtic to continue?

Rangers alone are to blame for their demise. I’d find it incredibly sad if a decision was made that Celtic needed ANY Rangers, and at the cost of sporting integrity.
Should I be worried about tickets for tomorrow? I haven’t got my ticket yet despite having paid for hostel and bus. Surely it isn’t close to selling out.
Congratulations to Morrisey.
Neganon, if you are about then I can send my email address to you.

caltontongues-cheers mate,looking at Jan/Feb Netflights cheapest by about £40 a head,direct flight too
lionsroar67 just a quick look on the celtic ticket page and click on map of stadium
p.s. celtic have already lost millions, would we potentially be looking at losing more millions via the loss of a creditable league via t.v. sponsorship, supporters etc..?
I honestly think celtic were stuck between a rock and a hard place and some of our more critical supporters are only to willing to point fingers of blame, while taking to simplistic a perspective in a deliberate ploy to undermine anything related to celtic
from me to you F&CK OF&

There is very little sponsorship money in scotland, would probably pay our cleaning staff for the year.
As for structured football, we already have that don’t we, all geared in one direction, why would we want to change that ???

As I posted yesterday, I am quite excited about us getting Biton on board. I have been keeping an eye on the guy for a wee while and he has all the attributes we need. If we can sign him and add some good coaching, we could have a player who the epl clubs (as well as some foreign sides) will be drooling over.
stephbhoy…
Don’t hold back, Man, tell ’em what you really think :-)
Bada Bing,
Just looked at the photo’s of the apartments there. It looks like it has been updated well although was fine before. Check the rates out, you used to get it cheaper if you went non- refundable.

Why would I try to undermine Celtic? My love for Celtic is clear for all to see.
Quantum and Elvis in the same sentence.
You’ve got to love CQN.
Maybe the blue knights should have offered Elvises (Or is it Elvii?) as a described quantum…
Missed there chance there the warmers…

I realize my post rather a sweeping generalization, as I’m hard I work here I find it difficult to follow the cut and thrust of the conversation adequately.
Champs League qualification every season is imperative for obvious reasons. In light of this, our season should run on a different timescale to most other clubs, hence our signing policy should be adjusted accordingly to allow signees to settle properly. It’s a conundrum certainly, but with the resources we do have, it should be manageable. One immediate solution would be to bolster the first team coaching operation. There has to be some excellent coaches out there, not necessarily just from the football fraternity that would jump at the chance to work with us. For example, I’m a very experienced yoga teacher and I’m sure that the right yoga teacher could help with our injuries, particularly when muscles are vunerable at the start of the season.
I’m very confident about tomorrow, however and think we can turn them over with Paradise willing us on.
Should we find ourselves in the Europa League, it wouldn’t neccassarily be a disaster and we can learn from this hopefully approaching subsequent seasons.
Popped in to say hail hail, currently downsouth, and will miss game tomorrow, (wife taking ma ticket)
So get behind the Bhoys, Bhoys.

Harry Gregg
I listened to his interview with Colin Murray – very moving references to John Thompson.
That led me to look at a Wikipedia article about players who died while playing:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_footballers_who_died_while_playing
Just above the reference to Phil O’Donnell, It includes a reference to a Shakhter Karagandy player, Nilton Pereira Mendes, who died after a collapse on the training ground in 2006.
Tomorrow night – Come on Glasgow Celtic, Stand up and Play the Game (and win by 3 goals)

Perhaps your assessment of where the team is, is a little harsh. I wouldn’t compare us to the bloated Sassenach Leagues anyway, we live in our own unique environment.

Send you an email letting you know my doctor friend is back home and consulting again.
She’ll be contacting you soon directly. Be prepared, her professional bedside manner would make a drill sergeant blush :-)
Been a bit dismayed to read some of the criticism of big Fraser. Think it is a confidence issue, caused partly by playing behind new/unsettled central defence. The goalie position is probably the most unforgiving in a team and easiest to blame. Hope FF’s international call up gives him a confidence boost. All eleven starting tomorrow will have my full support.
HH
Sod it, am just going to assume everyone is, er, ‘fit’:
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Forster :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Lustig :::::::::::::::: Ambrose ::::::::::::::::: Mulgrew ::::::::::::: Izaguirre
Commons :::::::::::: Brown :::::::::::::::::::: Ledley ::::::::::::: Boerrigter
::::::::::::::::::::::::: Samaras ::::::::::::::::::: Stokes ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
I’m not sure whether there are enough goals in that team; the major worry for is that Celtic haven’t scored many goals using 4-4-2 recently, but, while Commons may be more effective in the middle, I’m not sure if the rest of the squad (Samaras especially) are up to 4-3-1-2, and we saw how bad 4-3-3 was in the Astana stadium. Anything other than 4-4-2 would be a major gamble.
Attack down the flanks using Commons’ guile and Boerrigter’s pace. Desperately hope Stokes is fit, otherwise a 3 goal margin may prove to be beyond these players.
Cheers commons people..
KTF..
Btw I have family in burbank. Are you in that neck of the woods..
