Shakhter seem convinced they will eliminate Celtic tomorrow. Their friendly journalist explained why to Kazak readers today:
“Despite winning comfortably enough in the capital last Tuesday, Celtic remain confident of overturning the deficit in Albion (sic). Getting to the group stage is not a forbidden dream for Shakhter, it is their right as a result of recent domestic success.
“Shakhter have the mining spirit of resilience, respect and strict discipline. Glasgow also has a long mining tradition but Margaret Thatcher closed the mines in the 1980s (!). Since then, Glasgow people lost their previous spirit once and for all.
“Neil Lennon was unprepared and the Celtic defenders unable to do the job in Astana. Just like BATE Borisov, they think they will overcome the result in the second leg. Just like BATE they are still unprepared for Shakhter.
“Albion’s (sic) best managers are from Glasgow, Busby, Ferguson, Stein, Shankley, Dalglish, Moyes, but the current Celtic leadership chose a man from Ireland, Neil Lennon, who is permanently under fire from fans of the “Celts”.
“Celtic have an epidemic of injuries. Stokes, Commons, Forrest, Boerrigter, Kayal and Samaras.
“The referee is from Norway. Scandinavians appreciate a tough fight. The game is a very sensitive, contact, martial arts sport. Svein Moen will understand.
“Before the game in Astana Neil Lennon said Shakhter play a very British style. Why wasn’t he able to find an antidote to this? Maybe he got Shakhter completely wrong.
“Karagandy’s three central defenders are impenetrable. They close down space and do not interfere with each other.
“The “Catholics” refuse to acknowledge that Shakhter did not miss a ball against them in the first leg. They think that because they can from 0-2 down against Inverness they can do the same against Shakhter. This is unacceptable. It will seem more absurd if the Miners open their account in Glasgow.
“In defeating BATE, Shakhter have already eliminated a higher seed than Celtic.”
Leave nothing in the dressing room, Celtic.
Charlotte Fakes
When I started Celtic Quick News in 2004 I had neither contacts nor inside information. I started writing about the accounts, which was hugely consequential but, at the time, largely ignored public information. Soon after the blog gained some momentum this changed. People would come to me with information and views which were used to direct articles.
It only took a matter of weeks to go from zero contacts to having a network of people feeding into the blog.
I have no idea how Charlotte Fakes acquired some of her early information but, with doubts over the matter, it is understandable that the media was hesitant at touching it under the shadow of Leveson.
The Charlotte Fakes story has moved on, recent revelations have nothing whatsoever to do with Mr Whyte’s mailbox. We are now in the territory of cast iron whistle-blower information. She has her own network of people feeding legally acquired information, which the whistle-blower believes is in the public interest to reveal.
Some people in the game have had their snouts in the trough for so many decades a reservoir of resentment has built up against them among those who were once collaborators but are now cast aside. You are reading the fruits of this on Charlotte Fakes.
The only question is, while the rest of the world has a new-found appreciation of the value of whistle-blowers, are ‘all the president’s men’ still prepared to look the other way in Scotland?

Keen Morton fan apparently.

Don’t know the origin of the term ‘mineshafter’, but i seem to recall i first read the term in the Not the View Celtic fanzine in late 80’s.

Or you could say that our recruitmentent policy has failed.
Poor planning?
Those tasked with bringing in the players lack the ability to properly do the job?
Maybe Celtic can look at the failings of this window and bring in the proper personnel so we do not repeat in future?

Just saw the line-up for the Celtic XI for the Stan Petrov match…. some guys there that could still do a job for us tomorrow… Henrik, Lubo, Sutton, Cadete, PVH, to name a few … maybe NFL can ask if he can sign a few on loan for the evening!

Poor refereeing – the 6th goal was never offside (one man on the line and another in the back of the net)!
:-)

I remember that and another from 83 when we beat the Huns 4-2 at Ibrox after being 2 down as being another Montford masterclass
As you say happy days – the Sporting game is third on my all time list at Celtic Park matches

now I will not name the city centre hotel where I saw the Shaktar boys enjoying breakfast this morning, just in case some tosser decided a fire alarm is a good idea , there are many elderly American tourists stopping there and look like they need a good kip.
Point to be made is how confident they are at this juncture; maybe in my minds eye but the looked so relaxed and comfortable. They are a big old unit and look like they can mix it big time. My impression of them last week was of a side similar to The Hertz under Levein , big robust and happy to play for scraps, the type of side we struggle against.
At least all this pre fight hype will fuel our angst and set us off at a a pace. I will be 200 miles away tomorrow night , the lhad will be there with the brother in law. The brother in law suggested that we should sacrifice a shetland pony tonight and let Shaktar know that the pony is descended from Genghis Khans own herd…..I had no idea Genghis rode a shetland pony….however as the my brother in law is insane when it comes to football matters…I fear for my lhads safety in the LL stand.
Happy Birthday to LondonDave,
Gentleman and a scholar.
Completely agree with Operator. The ‘Bored’ is played oot… Henceforth all mineshafters should refer to ‘the Bhorde’ :0)
It is true things are not entirely perfect, but big game coming up could change everyone’s perspective, fans and agents…. Lets wait and see how things pan out.
Still think Scottish Football shamelessly lacks integrity, and, crucially, that our CEO hinted at this four five years ago when negotiating a proposed rearrangement of fixtures…. A negotiation which he won.
Bankiebhoy: hope rest of your trip was a success. The gift is blooming HH (hale and hearty).

I don’t like the look of that cartoon character logo these “Gate 22” Ultras from Sevilla have. He looks like he should be marching up the Shankhill Road on the 12th!

So any idea how the “talks” with the “player coming over on Monday” went?
No? Well then how about the Manager getting involved in a verbal joust with the Karagandy boss instead?
#whatshappening?
Boerrigter, Commons and Stokes were all at training today, although Anthony was wearing tracksuit bottoms, the traditional garb of those who have given up on making an impression.

What a way to spend 20 mins and what a Celtic team that was, how refreshing to hear a Scottish commentator enjoying a Celtic victory, oh for a Tommy Burns in this team, Mr Rogic yer name is Tom let’s hope yer half the player TB was…
What time’s kick off tomorrow Bourne? :))

I was too busy celebrating a victory over that lot,and bemoaning the last-minute winner from Narey against us which cost us the league to bother wi any fitba’ on the telly that weekend.
Or,more succinctly, canny mind that as drink had been taken.
Had to edit the above,my family read this!

well of course they are Paul. in fact our board are also remarkably quite and also seem to be looking the other way. what does this suggest?

Mr Z
If I may ask
Why would waving images of Che ( a Central/South American revolutionary) upset Polish football fans.
Hope you dont find this a stupid queation.
Its not like he was Russian.
I take it it’s honest question and I will give my honest answer.
Russian or not Russian does not matter. I have nothing against Russians. They are like the Poles, some are good people, some are bad people.
Che Guevarra was Central/South American revolutionary but he had blood of innocent people on his hand. Even his images on the mugs of those who work on Wall Street won’t change the facts and history. Everybody who is wise should go for facts, no big deal to google for them or read the books. It’s not the right wing writers who documented at least few tens killed by Che Guevarra, including 16 years boy who due to hunger has stolen bread.
Yes, I do think he is same sort like those Communists who were announcing people to death because they were richer, had different views.
Why waving Che images would upset the Poles?
My view on Margaret Thatcher might be, or might be not different from yours, but what would you think about Legia fans if you came to our stadium and our supporters would wave the flag with Margaret Thatcher image on it?
My answer (question ) is not provocation. I read what people think about her here, that’s why I try to explain that this way.

‘Perhaps Z was only highlighting the contradictory nature of some fans waving a flag with an iconic image of a revolutionary and yet some of the same support making light over the slaughter of thousands of unarmed men by a totalitarian regime.’

Mibaies aye, and mibaes naw.
I’m not sure the poster would differentiate between the ‘Bolsheviks’ who carried out the Katyn massacre, Che Guevara and any other ‘leftie’.

It’s all about the politics. FARE close Legia Ultras stand for play off against Steaua but I doubt they will report “Welcome to Katyn” . Don’t they work close to Antifa? There are good and better.
ernie lynch 14:18
It’s typical of you. Sorry to say this but I find your last sentence offensive. You better learn that others may have different views than yours, than give opinion on others, say what they think and who they are. You know everything for sure, right?
I find it was not exchange of the opinion from your side. Argument type – he is to stupid to find the difference between A and B.

Saw him this morning and off again shortly – looked better.
He’s bored and peed off that he won’t be able to see the game tomorrow – live on Sky Italia. Will record it for him.
(Fairly) confident it will have a happy ending!

Good news indeed. Long a cynic of devolution, but in this case it has come up trumps.
The relief her family must feel, well,I canny do it justice.
Quite simply a long-overdue good news story.
Watching the Man U v Chelsea borefest had me hoping that Pep Guardiola changes the mindset of the type of coaches being employed.
The money involved nowadays has the game fearful and many coaches are safety first types.
The Champion league final produced 2 very good teams playing fast forward moving football.
I was hoping many clubs would see this as the blueprint for success.
Unfortunately the defensive coaches seem to be the ones proliferating.
The money involved has football forgetting that it is an entertainment business.
Games like yesterday’s and tv viewing will have a direct affect on fan attendances.

Dexter in what way was NL involved in a verbal joust, all he said was they were disrespectful
——————-
Joust was simply my turn of phrase. The point being this;
the Manager remains silent about the board’s chronic failure to invest in replacements for our 2 best players and also fails to update the fans in relation to his comments last week about talks with a player yesterday
gherrybhoy57
Maharani on the 23rd if yer still up for it.
Might be more than a tableful of us. Bitta forward planning required. Like ordering in advance!
Letcha know the details nearer the day, hope you can make it.
Bring a train timetable….
Dexter,
NL said in his press conference today that they had tried to bring in players but it hadn’t worked out,he also said it wasn’t down to lack of support from the board,i do agree that we were led to believe there could be players in for talks today
