Kazaks disparage Neil, Celtic preparations. Charlotte Fakes

1247

Shakhter seem convinced they will eliminate Celtic tomorrow.  Their friendly journalist explained why to Kazak readers today:

“Despite winning comfortably enough in the capital last Tuesday, Celtic remain confident of overturning the deficit in Albion (sic).  Getting to the group stage is not a forbidden dream for Shakhter, it is their right as a result of recent domestic success.

“Shakhter have the mining spirit of resilience, respect and strict discipline.  Glasgow also has a long mining tradition but Margaret Thatcher closed the mines in the 1980s (!).  Since then, Glasgow people lost their previous spirit once and for all.

“Neil Lennon was unprepared and the Celtic defenders unable to do the job in Astana.  Just like BATE Borisov, they think they will overcome the result in the second leg.  Just like BATE they are still unprepared for Shakhter.

“Albion’s (sic) best managers are from Glasgow, Busby, Ferguson, Stein, Shankley, Dalglish, Moyes, but the current Celtic leadership chose a man from Ireland, Neil Lennon, who is permanently under fire from fans of the “Celts”.

“Celtic have an epidemic of injuries.  Stokes, Commons, Forrest, Boerrigter, Kayal and Samaras.

“The referee is from Norway.  Scandinavians appreciate a tough fight.  The game is a very sensitive, contact, martial arts sport.  Svein Moen will understand.

“Before the game in Astana Neil Lennon said Shakhter play a very British style.  Why wasn’t he able to find an antidote to this?  Maybe he got Shakhter completely wrong.

“Karagandy’s three central defenders are impenetrable.  They close down space and do not interfere with each other.

“The “Catholics” refuse to acknowledge that Shakhter did not miss a ball against them in the first leg.  They think that because they can from 0-2 down against Inverness they can do the same against Shakhter.  This is unacceptable.  It will seem more absurd if the Miners open their account in Glasgow.

“In defeating BATE, Shakhter have already eliminated a higher seed than Celtic.”

Leave nothing in the dressing room, Celtic.

Charlotte Fakes

When I started Celtic Quick News in 2004 I had neither contacts nor inside information.  I started writing about the accounts, which was hugely consequential but, at the time, largely ignored public information.  Soon after the blog gained some momentum this changed.  People would come to me with information and views which were used to direct articles.

It only took a matter of weeks to go from zero contacts to having a network of people feeding into the blog.

I have no idea how Charlotte Fakes acquired some of her early information but, with doubts over the matter, it is understandable that the media was hesitant at touching it under the shadow of Leveson.

The Charlotte Fakes story has moved on, recent revelations have nothing whatsoever to do with Mr Whyte’s mailbox.  We are now in the territory of cast iron whistle-blower information.  She has her own network of people feeding legally acquired information, which the whistle-blower believes is in the public interest to reveal.

Some people in the game have had their snouts in the trough for so many decades a reservoir of resentment has built up against them among those who were once collaborators but are now cast aside.  You are reading the fruits of this on Charlotte Fakes.

The only question is, while the rest of the world has a new-found appreciation of the value of whistle-blowers, are ‘all the president’s men’ still prepared to look the other way in Scotland?

    I’ve seen this on Sky;

    14.13 – Celtic manager Neil Lennon has confirmed that he is still trying to bolster his squad before the transfer window closes next week, and admits it has been a frustrating time trying to find reinforcements.

    So- fair play, I was wrong.

    Let’s look at this, however;

    Is the frustration with the board?

    Why do we appear so slow in concluding deals?

    Did many happy clappers previously predict we would have players in for the 1st leg? Then, the 2nd leg?

    Are we not embarrassed?

    The Celtic website is pushing ticket sales for tomorrow. Can they not see that the requirement to push sales is directly related to fans’ frustration at the club sitting on its hands?

    Strangely,if Neil Lennon says that,I believe him.

    If PL says it,I don’t.

    Maybe PL needs to improve his PR,maybe I just need to stop being suspicious of authority.

    I dunno.

    I do know,though,that hard-luck stories are not improving the squad.

    And frankly,my kid sister could improve that squad.

    Great interview going on with Harry Greig on Talksport by Colin Murray.

    Harry opened up the interview quoting the ‘Jonny Thomson’ song/ poem and how he carried a copy of it around in his wallet for years.

    BTW I was an NI fan back then as my da was as his da came fae the black north and they also had Bertie Peacock playing for them.

    He has stated that prior to the Munich crash young Liam Whelan who was sitting next to him allegedly said “if this is death then I’m ready for it” or words to that affect.

    Harry said that after that he saw the Catholic religion in a different light.

    He is known as the hero of Munich for helping pull out his Man U mates and others out of the burning plane, as George Best once said “Bravery is one thing but what Harry did was about more than bravery. It was about goodness.”

    The selling or loaning of strikers without replacements demonstrates either a tactical error by NFL and/or the fact he has been left with egg on his face by a recalcitrant board which probably promised him otherwise

    Reading the following,I hope Harry Gregg gets his reward in heaven,cos he shoooor was unlucky down here.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    During his United career he kept a total of 48 clean sheets. He is sometimes called ‘The Hero of Munich’ because he pulled some of his team mates from the burning plane during the Munich air disaster – including Bobby Charlton, Jackie Blanchflower and Dennis Viollet. Among others he helped were Vera Lukić, the pregnant wife of a Yugoslav diplomat and her daughter, Vesna, as well as his badly-injured manager Sir Matt Busby. George Best, who used to clean his boots, said, “Bravery is one thing but what Harry did was about more than bravery. It was about goodness.”[1]
    Gregg is rated by many as one of the best – if not the very best – goalkeepers Manchester United ever had, yet he achieved no medals to justify this claim – made all the more frustrating for him by the fact that he played for the club during one of their most successful periods. He was ruled out of the 1963 FA Cup victory due to a serious shoulder injury, and a succession of injuries meant that he could not play enough games to qualify for a league championship medal in the 1964–65 and 1966–67 title-winning campaigns. He was also on the losing side in the 1958 FA Cup Final and United’s decline in league form that season after losing so many players in the Munich tragedy meant that they finished ninth in a league that they had previously looked capable of winning. A year later United’s league form recovered but they finished runners-up to Wolverhampton Wanderers
    surely its as simpe as Gazlegions.
  12. I find myself in two camps ahead of the game tomorrow. A big part of me wants to see us progress in the CL proper and another part of me would be still be ok with a run in the EL.
    I say this because I’m not sure we are ready for the CL group stages this year. Whether its because of the first leg in Astana and the team seeming tired or uninterested in CL football, (I know a long way to travel jet lag and all the other stuff), or is it the number of changes that we have made, some call it losing the spine of the team and not replacing them, I don’t buy that btw. If players are brought in or promoted to replace players that have moved on you would think that they would seize their chance with gusto, I’m not sure we have seen that although I think that some are more than capable.
    I would have been quite pleased to see us going ahead this year with the team for the most part that beat the mighty “Pool” in Dublin. I thought young Hoops and new Hoops stepped up to the plate that day.
    I want us to win and progress tomorrow night, but part of me says, if we don’t, no big deal we are not ready for it. Blame it on the board, the shafters, clappers or me being tired of the transfer window and its hopes or a combination of all of them.
  14. We got disastrous result in Khazakstan. The performance was merely ordinary but the result was very poor. My only consolation is that we did not lose a third or fourth whilst chasing an away goal. We were beat fairly without ever being tactically out-thought.
    Having seen Shakhter perform in 3 rounds, I think it is hard to place them on a British football scale of ability. I suspect that they are better than most SPL sides but I do not believe they are yet a CL group stage team.
    They play a Stoke type football and they will play long balls to their striker who is good at holding the ball up. Their wingers are fast and tricky, a bit better than SPL standard but no big 5 leagues will be chasing any of these players.
    I am confident we can score against them but less confident that we will get the needed result. One goal for them and we will need 4 and I am not sure that we are anywhere near gelling as a team yet to feel that is likely.
    I am hoping for 2:0 and pens, or 3:0in 90 or 120 minutes, but we will need a fully focused Celtic to take care of them, especially in the second half.
    This will be a good win if we achieve it. I much prefer the CL achievement to EL participation and we now have a close to 50:50 chance. The bookies are putting short odds on a 1, 2, 3 or 4 to nil win for Celtic. They are giving longer odds on a 1:1, 2:1 or 3:1 result, therefore they think Shakhter are unlikely to score at CP- but I remain unconvinced that they have set those forecasts right. They are offering 18 to 1 against a 4:1 win and, reassuringly, are offering odds above 40 to 1 for Shakhter to score more than once.
    Overall, Celtic are set at evens to qualify but Shakhter are set at 8 to 11 on.
    Qualifying tomorrow will be a win against the odds it seems.
  16. Just a quick thought…
    The absurd distance to travel for a ‘European’ game was seen as playing a part in our downfall last week. However, it will even out as now Shakhter have to make the same trip,right?
    Only problem is, we have made the trip twice. We came back.
    By the time the Kazakhs make their second journey they could have their feet up waiting to see who they draw in the group stages.
    A timely boost For big Fraser Forster? In the England squad for the next two World Cup qualifiers, and still a Celtic player. Well done the big man!
  18. To be fair to Shaktar they should be confident as we didn’t show anyting in the first leg that they should be frightened of. We were very poor but we still should have scored. Couldn’t believe when my Greek Ghod started hobbling when Jamsie’s week header was parried by their keeper. If he had stood still he would have had a tap in. We could easily have come away form the game with a 2 all draw if not a win (which we did not deserve).
    They will come to defend deeply and hope for a goal on the counter attack, more or less what they did in the first leg. We need to get right behind the bhoys tomorrow night.
    Have a bit of sympathy with the predicament when it comes to some of the transfer targets I have to say.
    Its a cert that some players have said they will sign if we qualify for the CL only, and given the attitude of the modern player it would be no surprise if certain players didn’t want to come even if we DID qualify due to the possibility of another 3 qualifiers and early start same time next year.
  28. FF in the England squad – do you need to be throwing them in to get into the England squad as a goalkeeper?
    Like I’ve being saying from last Tuesday – this mob are lacking in talent but they have a tactician manager who has out-planned several teams and we were no exception. I wouldn’t place their players quality as even SPL standard but their organisation was far above anything we’ve witnessed in recent times. They played how we were capable of playing against the likes of Barcelona when we beat Barcelona. Nothing I’ve seen suggests they won’t be able to be that organised again or that we’ll be able to open them up.
    I’m sure we’ll win the match but almost as sure that we will not win the tie.
    They have a few good players, their strikers and Canas impressed; the rest are average but extremely organised and hard working as a unit.
    Not feeling good about this one and while PL takes responsibility for not being “able” to bring anyone in on time and selling players before they needed sold – Neil Lennon has to shoulder 90% of the blame – it’s up to him to force the issue with the board. MON’s ability waned in my eyes year after year, I thought and think he has great talents but his formations and tactics are one-dimensional; but do you think for a minute the board would have treated him the same way or he’d not have made sure signings were made?
