Kazim-Richards signs 2.5 year deal

357

24 hours after a lightweight-looking Celtic were dumped out of the League Cup, Colin Kazim-Richards (29) joined the club on a 2.5 year deal from Feyenoord.  Kazim-Richards is a centre forward who can also play in the wide-striker positions.  No one will call him light-weight, not to his face anyway

The player left Feyenoord under a considerable cloud, after being suspended for the last two weeks of January for threatening a journalist, not his first encounter with controversy.
After spending 2006-07 in the English Premier League with Sheffield United, Kazim-Richards moved to Turkey, where he has spent most of the intervening years, playing for Fenerbahce, Galatasaray and Bursaspor.  Feyenoord picked him up 18 months ago and he delivered 12 goals in 26 league starts but he’s been used sparingly this season.

What’s he going to give us?  Well, we can expect a more combative style when he’s on the field, which is perhaps what Ronny Deila is looking for.  No more being pushed around.  For Colin, it’s an opportunity to get his career back on track after a what, from the outside, looks like a series of mistakes.

  1. Will reserve judgement on our new signings until I have seen them.

I remember being underwhelmed when we signed Lubo. Although more info available on current signings gives some reservations.

Given Seivchenko is left sided as is Simunovic, do see them as a central defensive partnerships. Maybe Erik can also be defensive midfielder. Anyone know if he has played there.

  2. Kazim-Richards a player with attitude?

Just seen a clip of him scoring a penalty in Holland. He then rushes in to grab the ball and en-route deliberatly shoulder barges the goalie into the back of the net. The MIBs will be licking their lips.

Michael O’Halloran chose to play for a manager who seems to know what he’s doing.

Maybe, MO’H has inside information that, the rudderless ship that is Celtic FC / PLC….is heading for the rocks ?

Kev, I think you might be on to something here. I reckon when he was playing for a team that pumped Warburton’s mob 3-0 just a couple of months ago, he thought, “This guy is definitely on to something…”

You’re nothing if not good comedy Kev.

    Hail Hail fella.

Erik, going by the youtube stuff….seems to me as though he could be more of a, Michael Ballack type, rather than a CH….but, what do I know ?

I do not consider this as really breaking my curfew but a new article has been posted.

Welcome to Celtic all of our new signings and good luck to those who have left or are ‘gaining experience ‘ elsewhere. Although I have no knowledge of their capabilities it would be nice to see new signings actually ON the park right away. When did that last happen? No doubt they will make their debuts against the mighty EK on Sunday. It wasn’t always thus!!

  8. Ronny needs to actually make some decisions about letting players go

    Forrest, Mulgrew, Cole, Johansen, Rogic….

You cant keep signing players and expect to keep all the ones you have

  9. KevJ tell how this master plan you are ad voting would work in practice? What fans would make up the new board? Would it be a committee structure, one fan one vote? You may well be on to something here but you’d need to put more flesh on the bones, other just saying sack the board. Put your idea up for scrutiny and you might get somewhere. H H Hebcelt

    Kazim-Richards,Carlton Cole and O’Halloran.

Not for me any of them.Aidan Nesbitt, slayer of Sevco yesterday chased up the road to Maryhill.Astonishing

I’ll cut Kazim-Richards a bit of slack maybe as the lad hasn’t kicked a ball yet.

    We’ll see.

Nesbitt needs to play and Thistle will be great for him

Also he plays off the striker. We have Commons, Rogic, Armstrong, Johansen & Allen for that position
