Kazim-Richards signs 2.5 year deal

357

24 hours after a lightweight-looking Celtic were dumped out of the League Cup, Colin Kazim-Richards (29) joined the club on a 2.5 year deal from Feyenoord.  Kazim-Richards is a centre forward who can also play in the wide-striker positions.  No one will call him light-weight, not to his face anyway

The player left Feyenoord under a considerable cloud, after being suspended for the last two weeks of January for threatening a journalist, not his first encounter with controversy.
After spending 2006-07 in the English Premier League with Sheffield United, Kazim-Richards moved to Turkey, where he has spent most of the intervening years, playing for Fenerbahce, Galatasaray and Bursaspor.  Feyenoord picked him up 18 months ago and he delivered 12 goals in 26 league starts but he’s been used sparingly this season.

What’s he going to give us?  Well, we can expect a more combative style when he’s on the field, which is perhaps what Ronny Deila is looking for.  No more being pushed around.  For Colin, it’s an opportunity to get his career back on track after a what, from the outside, looks like a series of mistakes.

Auldheid, I work close to where the sevco news, sorry, Herald/Times office at the top of Renfield Street.

I passed by the entrance to their office today.

The two of the words on the wall at the entrance, two. courage and integrity, were not displayed in their their recent issue with sevco.

The exiled tim, Rayo Vallecano fans had a banner in support of the Green Brigade , a few years ago.

I tend to think of myself as more openly aggressive. I’ll argue vociferously. I put that down to my Irish heritage – my family loved to argue like madmen. All the while recognising that we’re all on the same side. Hence why I steer clear of ad hominem insults and name calling. We’re all here for one purpose ultimately

You don’t fool me. Ad hominem insults might be below your intellect but more damaging vindictive aggressive personal attacks aren’t. I remember well your m.o. and your malevolent affect on celticquicknews

  3. TINYTIM…

You have articulated exactly how I feel ,in a way that I never could.

    Acht… I just shout a lot. :)

I’m utterly disgusted at our dropping standards.

Likewise. I’m equally astonished that some profess to be happy with the ‘progress’ under Ronny. All I can see is increasing levels of failure. The team are adept at losing matches sadly.

I feel utter contempt for those allowing this to happen.

Yeah. There seem to be problems deeper than just the manager. Fundamentals are not being taken care of. I’m unsure what Peter Lawwell’s role is but in terms of almost every aspect of the club I’m unhappy. From the failure to stand up for fans (which I’m sure in no small part has bred the current culture of defiance amongst some), to the shameful refusal to be a living wage employer. Then add the woeful football ‘operation’ and all in, the club is a morass. I expect great things of Celtic. When one aspect is failing it’s hard enough, but when the club fails in every regard that you find important?

Dermot Desmond . Yet again I call you out.

Likewise – the man is a blight on our club and an unworthy custodian. That I regard him as worse than Chris White and James Kelly says a lot.

Put an end to this madness.

We’ll get rid of Ronny, because this level of play will hurt the balance sheet. And the loans plan will not provide the £10/15million in transfer fees we need coming into the club every year. But I fear Dermot is here to stay. His dividend is big and his risk small. I guess there are tax breaks too. Dermot is fond of avoiding any expenditure that might go to a common good instead of making his wallet bulge further.

Nesbitt sent out on loan to Partick whilst we loan in Roberts….truly baffling stuff. Our best young prospect sent away from the club while we develop Man City’s next generation for them. We really have lost all focus as a club.

  5. Tinytim,

Agree RD has lost the plot phasing out 40-50 goals a season Stokes and Commons for guys with hit rate of Sebo proportions.

That said I don’t believe the Feynoord player is a RD signing. It has John Park written all over it. As I note on other Celtic websites what is Parks incentive in bringing in a range of striking duds. Why is is Lawwell rubber stamping these signings. Transparency is required.

I am good D. Hope you and family are too. I just don’t get upset at a Celtic loss as much as some folk. I have been to every home game and a few away this season. I enjoy the fitba we are playing. :)

Aulheid., my last post should have said there are four words at the entrance of the Herald/Times office, two of which, courage and integrity, were not shown in their recent issue involving sevco.

The exiled tim, one of my work’s union reps, goes over at least once a year to a Vallecano game. He is pally with some of their fans.

Aiden Nesbitt is clearly not ready to play in the first team at Celtic so he gets development time

    at Partick.

Patrick Roberts isn’t ready to play in the EPL so he gets development time at Celtic.

    Hope that helps CSC

  10. BSR

    Succinctly put sir.

Canny wait to see Patrick in the Hoops in full flow.

Good luck to AN in Maryhill.

  11. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

Nesbitt off, whilst we develop another clubs players ! There has to be a fee involved, but are we paying or receiving it ?

Stokes away, not my favourite, but he with Commons in the side would have seen us canter the league.

Please tell me Deila hasnt jettisoned Commons.

We may just need him to get us back on track, like he did last season.

  12. P8DDY,

Bang on the mark with your earlier post, there is no coherent plan. When Ronny Deila arrived, one of his first statements referred to not wanting loan players, we have been inundated with loan garbage for the most part, Denayer excepted. He told us about faster, fitter, stronger, two tears later we’re slower, sluggish, heartless. He spoke about developing our younger players, KT apart, who has he developed?

A good coach would have picked up the rapid decline of Michael Lustig and acted to reinforce that position, not our coach, most of the part-time coaches on here have seen it. The middle of the defence has been shocking since VVD and JD left, our coach knew this was coming, did we get replacements in on time? Not on your life, we’re still tinkering with a central partnership that has changed more this season than any I can remember for years. The backdoor of the midfield has been wide open for a couple of years, has our coach looked at locking it up, well, there’s another transfer window about to close and the opposition horses will continue to bolt through the middle, pretty much like Dundee Utd and Ross County did over the past couple of weeks. Plan? If this is Celtic with a plan, good God help us if we never had one.

Anybody able to explain our plan to me?

I thought it was buy young potential sell it on as a profit. Get rid of troublemakers etc

Where does Kazim fit in to this plan?

    Bsr,

    My friend..,

Why does a young prospering Celt, firing on all cylinders be touted for a basket case like Partick Thistle instead of pulling the Hoops on?

Im confused are we selling or not selling

I’ve seen him live at Celtic Park in his brief debut and can see why Celtic don’t think he’s not developed enough.

Kieran Tierney on the other hand, is in.

    wits,

Stoke signing a guy for over 18 million.A stinking over hyped, over rated league full of mercanaries jumping from club to club and agents raking in a fortune and the English media lapping it up like over fed pups.Sickening.

As I said earlier tonight we’ll see where these English clubs are when the European prizes are being handed out..

    Bsr,

The upcoming game against East Kilbride is tailor made for Nesbitt. If he goes to Partick Thistle he’s still playing in the SPL so why not for us?

Yea Stoke City splash out 18 million

Mad stuff and it will only get worse, more and more TV money going to EPL next year.

Very difficult for celtic to attract quality players, but we gotta keep on dancing

  22. WITS,

Sky have created this monster, they finance it, they market it to the hilt and they are good at it.

Agree crazy money. Stoke sign a midfielder for 18.3m FFS. The EPL is now a global league, apart from players ,it seems that they can now capture the best managers when they wish. £200m just to stay in that league, the market is there and the craziness will only increase.

This bubble will not burst soon and this is the reality of what we are up against. We may never again be able to financially compete ( unless we eventually join the club ) but DD is correct we need players with commitment, heart, bottle as a minimum. This was not evident Yesterday . Again.
