ROBBIE KEANE has quit as manager of Ferencvaros to ramp up speculation he could be heading for Celtic in the summer.
The Republic of Ireland legend has left the Hungarian side after one and half years, according to a report in local media outlet Nemzeti Sport.
Keane, who had a brief loan spell at the Hoops in 2010, has been linked with a return to Parkhead as successor to Martin O’Neill who could end his second stint as caretaker boss after tomorrow’s Scottish Cup Final against Dunfermline.
Motherwell’s impressive Jens Berthel Askou was also mentioned as a possibility, but the Dane agreed to take over at French Ligue 1 side Toulouse earlier this week.

TWO OF A KIND…Martin O’Neill and Robbie Keane have a chat during the Celtic manager’s career in charge of the Republic of Ireland international squad.
Slovak champions Slovan Bratislava are reportedly checking out Keane’s situation. The former Liverpool ace won the title in his first season in Hungary, but had to accept the runners-up place this time around.
However, the 45-year-old coach was a winner in the national Cup competition and earned praise for guiding Ferencvaros into the last 16 of the Europa League. They overcame Ibrox opposition 2-1 in Budapest in December.
Speaking about his future last week, Keane said: “I ignore the rumours, only my two children read them. I feel good here, it’s an excellent club, with excellent people, an excellent president.
“After a few weeks off, I’m coming back even more determined.”
It looks as though the team chief has had a change of mind in recent days.
Celtic players outwith the World Cup squads are due back at training on June 26 and the club’s powerbrokers hope to have an answer to end the managerial guessing game.
