Keane the bogeyman

I often thought that Roy Keane was the bogeyman newspapers taunted us with when we are looking for a manager.  He is box office, for sure, but as a parting gift from Peter Lawwell to new chief exec, Dominic McKay, he would prove a ‘handful’.  Roy has not worked as a manager in a decade, his future in the game surely lies in front of the camera.

Still waiting on the Justice Secretary dropping his faux threat to cancel Sundays’ game.

  1. I might well be mistaken but I think the SNP suggested in 2014 that, in an independent Scotland, pensions would be averaged out. In other words everyone would get the same regardless of contributions. I’m unsure whether that would have applied to state or private pensions.

I definitely read it in one of their leaflets but am prepared to have my memory corrected as to the detail.

Leaving the footie to one side ….

Who knows if you’ll be better off , I’d guess folks with a few quid will pay more to support a transition and better future. Another 20 years of Tories putting the wind up folks about Scotland being too small , poor , stupid , incompetent, dependent perm any 8 from 10 is just too dreadful to contemplate… still 500 cabinet jobs to EK and a tunnel to Belfast …. what was the question again ?

  3. BGF thanks. I sent my views about the future to the Chairman….what’s his name again…last week. Not expecting to get a reply especially as I mentioned that I am in line with many Celtic Supporters who have been so since the day they were taken by their fathers to their first games and that we may have a different point view about our failure this season from some of the Board who would not had that experience.

I do hope our new CEO will bring a fresh view to the club and will be encouraged to help to lead us to greater heights in the future.

I think our new CEO will be amazed at our wonderful catering facilities in comparison to what you get at Murrayfield😵😱

    …the Chairman….what’s his name again…

That wasn’t sarcasm I detected there, was it? Shocking !!

I don’t expect the Chairman has the slightest notion about – or interest in – the views of most Celtic supporters.

    pensions jeez oh.

    You are just wrong

if you pay into a pension you will get it.wherever you are reside in the planet.

You paint a spiteful union(no wrong)

George kerevan is certainly a cad but citing him is a little akin to quoting Jeremy corbyn on nooo layburrr policy when the war criminal was harming socialist from the inside.

You don’t ‘pay in’ to the state pension as you do with a private pension.

Yes you’d get your state pension in an independent Scotland, at whatever level the pension is fixed at by the then Scottish government. But it would be paid by the Scottish state with money paid by the then current contributors, not by money paid in the past by current pensioners.

The idea that a newly fledged Scottish state, struggling to cope with one of the largest fiscal deficits in the developed world, and trying to meet the economic criteria required for joining the EU, would be able or prepared to increase the old age pension is utter nonsense.

The cult are lying through their teeth on this, and you are being conned.

Rant and rave as much as you want, it won’t change the reality.

Did he not say that one of his teacher was Celtic daft and he could tell how Celtic were getting on by how much homework he was given, or something like that?

It’s a pretty tenuous link to Celtic.

  12. prestonpans bhoys on

On of the Celtic websites, might have been here, did actually suggest that he had a corporate box at the bigot dome

  13. I’d be more interested in TGD’s Celtic supporting credentials, or lack thereof, than Bankier’s.

  14. You pay into a state pension via national insurance contributions, whilst working. The longer you work, the more you’ll build up. Another factor might be if your employer operated a contracted out scheme, in which case less NI would be paid and subsequently less state pension.

  15. More disinformation. Is this the fiscal deficit whereby 8.5% of the UK population are

“allocated ” 25% of the debt, whilst at the same time receiving only 40% of the tax take generated?

Sorry Connaire 12 – some things require a response.

The scottish people if they democratically vote to be independent i believe they will be better off. ___________________________________________

I read Orwell in the 1960s. He said that you could take a nationalist – any nationalist – step by step and prove that his or her assumptions were wrong. But they will never accept that. The SNP ‘s own Growth Commission predicted ten years of austerity following independence. There is not a single reputable economist endorsing independence.

Well-off Nats say the pain will be worth it. But that pain, in reality won’t affect them. It will translate into a sub-standard Health Service and shabby public services. In Scotland today, proportionately more children are in poverty than in the UK as a whole. Life expectancy is going down. Expect worse, far worse, if independence comes.

By the way, ‘Scottish’ is spelled with a capital.

nice to know you read Orwell.

fantastic author.probably on of my favourites

    ah demon on authorotarianism

what would he make of the war criminal you support? his murder of thousand and the knock on conflicts since they bombed the genie out the bottle.

wonder how those iraqi health stats are doin?

Could the monies spent then on scotlands health service have had a short/med/longterm effect?

What would he would have said of a party founded to redistribute income and resources

from rich to poor actually doin it from poor to rich by covering their debt as well as augmenting and liberalizing the offshore industry.

i think Orwell would have loved the privatizing of nhs by calling it marketization and then ‘spending’ and building hospitals by private finance initiative.neat little transfer from poor to rich

Yeh i wonder what George would make of the current palestinian peace envoy!

There are a few facts of your party,

    Stats are shocking Fritzsong.i agree.

Everyone is guessing , it’s technically called forecasting and economics …. if you don’t like the word guess , how about likelihood, prediction whatever you called it, it’s a guess educated or otherwise …. still Scotland’s relative decline is unlikely to be addressed by more of the same for the next 30 years or so ….. if there is a gear change in future ways of earning a buck off the back of the pandemic, best we shape our own future than leave it to a bunch of oxbridge PPE graduates

  20. Just popped in……………….just popping out.

Only Connect will be 10 times more interesting than this place the day!

  21. Dermot Desmond has been acting like Robert Kelly of old since HE signed Roy Keane back in the day. Robbie Keane was probably another of his and Paddy McCourt as well. I would bet he signed Shane Duffy and also Damien Duff. Those signings beef up our support in Ireland, fair enough, but it is not a manager or director of football choosing players. it is amateurish and Lennon getting the job in the shower sums up the corporate culture that ails our club so much at the moment ; chummy and shallow. So let’s be upfront about what surrounds Celtic and Roy Keane. Meanwhile, Celtic finally put us out of our collective misery by revamping the Celtic TV channel …..but the replacement commentator for the next match, at least , is someone who knows nothing about Scottish football. With all the brilliant young, enthusiastic Celtic supporters presenting their own podcasts and shows out there and we choose a cheekie chappy commentator again.

    A missed opportunity.

In these difficult times and with both Glasgow clubs’ supporters being villified by the Edinburgh media and the unscrupulous politicians of all clours, Celtic could steal a march with a display of sportsmanship and get the message out to both sets of fans to cool it!! T

Detractors accuse the football world of being irresponsible, Sturgeon and company see votes with this argument, let’s show how big we are. Barça and Real Madrid have been having this same debate for years but they end up doing it. Journalists ( again) make mischief with this. If it was Aberdeen we would do it for them so we need to put it to bed quick and focus on showing we still know how to play well.

  22. Weebobbycollins on

An Tearmann…yes, that’s why I say he only saw Celtic from hun corporate box. From the word go I didn’t like him and I still don’t know what he offers the club. He seems more of a taker than a giver and I think he has taken quite a lot. But who am I to criticise? A mere pleb in his eyes…

Just read you had written to our Mr.Bankier, but as yet not received a reply.

He has been busy, the Company he is the MD of,Burn Stewart, has just funded one of their Senior Managers to be an Associate Director at Sevco, all for a donation.of £1m.

Mr.Bankier MD stated they have had a long association with the Club, and have had a Box since 1989. and he approved the “investment”

    Have a look.

My opinion has always been that this guy is totally compromised and does nothing for Celtic which would jeopardise his other activities, why he is on our Board casts a huge question mark over DD’s judgement..

He should be nowhere near us.( opinion)
