CELTIC have agreed a fee of £400,000 plus add-ons to immediately release Daniel Kelly to Millwall.
The 18-year-old midfielder had signed a pre-contract with the London side and was poised to join them when his terms at the Hoops expired on January 1 2025.
Kelly knocked back a reported offer of £5,000-per-week to extend his deal with the champions, but the youngster, who made his first-team debut in the 5-0 Scottish Cup win over Buckie Thistle in January, was determined to move to the Championship side.
ON THE MOVE…Daniel Kelly is heading for Millwall.
The second-tier outfit had originally offered a derisory £270,000 for the Scotland Under-19 international, but that was rejected by the Parkhead men who were prepared to take a hardline stance on the transfer.
That would have meant Kelly remaining at the club for almost four and a half months without the propsect of first-team involvement.
Now the wrangling has been settled and Celtic have accepted an offer of £400,000 plus additional payments, according to a report in the Daily Record.
Kelly made eight appearances for the champions while claiming his first goal in the 7-1 rout of Dundee in February.
Rodgers had high hopes for Kelly, but the powerhouse middle-of-the-park performer rejected new terms in June and was left out of the squad that toured The States in the summer.
